I am on an intermittent fasting way of eating starting at 11:00 a.m. and ending at 5:00 p.m. I also have a high-protein/low-carb diet with no sugar. I went from 145 lbs. to 130 lbs. I am a 79-year-old woman, and I am 5'8". Time-restricted eating works. In addition, I work out four days a week, including walking and weight-lifting from 5:30 a.m. to 7:15 a.m. I walk 10,000 steps a day.
@medawson01 this is fantastic to read. My mum is 77 and she’s done something similar and is now the weight she was as a teenager. She just doesn’t get the strength training part though; she’s a work in progress! So good to read this works so well for you. It’s similar to my own eating pattern, except that I fast 24-36 hours once a week to take advantage of autophagy. I lost all My excess body fat (internal and subcutaneous) and now my skin is too big! Im working now on shrinking it tight again with longer fasting periods. And it’s working a treat! Im 56 in Jan; no meds, 5’8, 130lbs, hill walking 90 mins min each day, plus body weight resistance training, rucking and daily yoga! 😅
Intermittent fasting works for me. I keep dropping pounds without trying. I find that 17 hours is the magic number of fasting hours for me. I aim to end eating by 6pm (7pm). I also do my best to follow the principles of the Glucose Goddess. Thank you,Dr.Rupy!
Isn't this intermittent fasting, yes just heard you mention it. I don't have a breakfast and have a main meal mid afternoon. I combined this with carnivore elimination diet and lost 23 pounds. I still do it but I've added other foods now and have maintained weight for 9 months now. I have more energy and healed much inflammation. It really works. I prefer it to fasting. There's a lot of healing goes on. Feel better than I've felt for many years. I'm 68.
I pray to God that everyone who is reading this gets better and stays healthy. What helped me is using the herbs from the book the hidden herbs by anette ray
When my dad retired my mother started cooking their main meal in the middle of the day still having breakfast and a small meal at tea time. She didn’t change anything else about their diet and she lost all her excess weight.
I've been doing time restricted eating for past 6 months. My eating window is 11am-7pm roughly. I prioritize 3 balanced meals high in protein and fibre in this eating window as I am cognisant of getting the right amount of nutrients (I'm a Dietitian :)). I feel full and satisfied and have reduced cravings for sugary/ultra processed foods. Coupled with lifting heavier weights 3 days/week I have managed to lose 10-12 lbs, reduced waist size and hopefully has improved by blood TG levels and improve my insulin sensitivity as I am in Perimenopause age.
I’ve been doing this for the past six years following a 32 pound weight loss. I’m 57 postmenopausal and this has really worked for me to maintain the weight loss within a 2 to 3 pound marker. I try to do all my eating between 6 AM and 3 o’clock in the afternoon. Now, of course there will be events or restaurant invites that may get in the way, but never go to these places or events starving. You will wind up, chewing the leg off of a piece of furniture lol Always have a protein dense snack before you go and then you can nibble lightly and still be social. I have found that this does work and I feel much better on many physical levels with sleep inflammation control and overall physical function. Once you get into the habit of it, it’s not difficult. You just have to get through the adjustment phase but once you see that scale holding steady, it will be a good incentive to stick within your time window.
Intermittent fasting and Time restricted eating are the same thing. You just restrict the the time window in which you eat, and eat only in the feeding window. TRE is synonymous with IF.
Why aren't people discussing why are books like "Health and Beauty Mastery" by Julian Bannett being censored for exposing lies health industry and pharma are pushing?
Intermittent fasting (15/9) has been my routine since retiring. Evening meal by 18.30 breakfast no earlier than 09.30 following my 3-5 mile morning walk with our dog. Now 69 and feel great. Of course this is most days but occasionally flexible ie eating out with friends in the evening etc. would flex the times by an hour or two. After all life is for living. 🤗🤗
Thank you for information Aujla. I do not want to take drugs lose poundage. I will follow this and walk or exercise each day. Also what is best drink besides water?
I started time restricted eating 6 years ago. 12 - 7 pm. 2 meals and one small snack in between, circa 1500 calories a day, lowish carb moderate protein and fat, green veg and salads. The only benefit ever since was to stop getting fatter. In fact I have put on weight when on holidays or over Christmas etc, maybe 2kgs after a week eating 3x a day and deserts etc and maybe some beer. Each of these weight gains takes 3 months of very careful eating to get rid of. And yes, I do exercise a lot.
I have a question…if I’m trying to squeeze 3 meals into a shorter space, how long do I have to leave between meals for good digestion? I’m not trying to lose weight, in fact the opposite, so don’t want to skip a meal, need to maintain a decent amount of calories and nutrition. Many thanks
Dr Rupi Aujli, Great video and explained in a simple matter that is understood! So much complication over diet and nutrition so easily explained video is much appreciated. Accurate and to the point! I’m a new subscriber.
Balanced opinion. He has weighed in all scientific information out there. I am impressed when he says that the long-term effect of time restricted eating has not been studied, despite advocating time restricted eating.
Time-restricted eating falls under the fasting umbrella. When I first started fasting, fasting practitioners spoke about this and intermittent fasting as two distinct, different things, both being a part of fasting. Then everyone started calling time-restricted eating intermittent fasting.
Thanks for putting this video together. I am retired and like to ride my mountain bike on a harder trail for 2 hrs 4 days a week. I noticed you mention trying smaller rides to try it out before breakfast. What if I just waited until after breakfast and then rode? (I drive to the trail appox half hour each way)… I am retired , so I can ride mid day. What would be your recommendation?
My understanding of what he said the difference between IF - eg. 5:2 and an eating window is that there is no counting calories. I would imagine if practising IF without calorie restriction/counting then that would be the same as an eating window.
A 12 hr eating window is very long and one can pack a lot of food in that period of time …..u need to watch ur calories and eat healthy..no sugar , limited processed food if any at all ….best cycle is 20/4 if u want to lose weight or 16/8 if ur at optimum weight but want to do autophagy
I lost 15 kilos in one year thru intermittent fasting. I started with 12-12 until I managed to fast for 13, 14, 15 and 16hrs. I did yoga to manage my stress and lately, added brisk walk for 30 mins to 1 hr everyday.
We have stuck to 5 pm dinner for a year and I do not miss snacking after and go to bed usually 8-9 with no problems sleeping lost 15 lbs also pay attention to eating balanced meals and do not have bad cravings intermittent fasting is a very healthy solution for my husband and I.
Help doctor Rupy, I’m trying to fast the hell out of Morton’s neuroma (inflammation around a nerve). Why o why does it not work for me? I’m missing out on walking, running LIFE, fit and healthy otherwise. Love yr work. Don’t expect an ansa, just venting 😢
My husband had a terrible time with Morton's neuroma and our chiropractor was able to 'fix it' with treatment and orthotics. He's 100% better now!! I know everyone's different but I hope this suggestion helps. Cheers from Oz!!
Terribly sad to read of your plight, your angst and frustration came across palpably. I hope someone here can come up with a good solutions or workable suggestion. My very best regards to you. Empathy.
What about having alcohol in the evening? I eat between 11-6 usually, no sugar at all .......but I do like a wine or brandy in the evening- just one. I seem to be stacking on a bit of belly fat lately. 🤔
While the Mediterranean diet is highlighted as being the best to follow, I'm certain that it doesn't just mean the actual food in isolation. Think about the lifestyle, the social aspect of sitting down with people when eating and taking time over the meal. They don't just eat and run. The whole ritual of preparation, socialising and digesting is part of the 'diet'. However, it is curious that fasting is encouraged, on several online information sites, ZOE included, that eating late in the evening is not a great idea for your body, yet most dinners in Mediterranean countries are never started before 8pm :-)
EARLY DINNER or SKIP BREAKFAST? The only TR studies I found that question whether TR eating works had participants eat early dinner rather than skipping breakfast. The reason skipping breakfast is likely better than early dinner is because the therapeutic hours are at the end of the fasting period (low insulin and ketosis) and burning more calories during this time demands more fat burning. When skipping breakfast .. the therapeutic time are the few hours before lunch when we are active and likely burning calories With early dinner (and breakfast) .. the therapeutic hours are the hours before breakfast when people may be sleeping and may fewer calories. Also ... when we wake up our blood glucose naturally rises (along with cortisol) so DROPPING insulin may be more difficult right when we wake up. This guy's routine works because he doesn't eat for a few hours after he wakes AND he exercises fasted in the morning before breakfast. As such ...he has burned many calories in his therapeutic window demanding an enhanced.fat burning. If he woke up and ate breakfast .. I doubt he would find any benefits from TR eating.
You're young and I'm not sure if you had to overcome a chronic disease, such as Diabetes. What's your clientele like? Maybe you can write a book about them if they are elderly. Clinical experience is my test of any recommendation who since moving to the US has had a diet where the animals are kept in an unhygenic way with corn being their main source of nutrition. Heart attacks are our cause of death and the others who don't have problem of controlling A1C die from Cancer from the food supply.
My father is 72. He is diabetic, has BP and COPD. He still smokes and sits the whole day and eats regularly. Often goes without having a bath. Gets angry if I remind him. Difficult to deal.😢
The word "Potential" crops up a lot....not concrete though. Isnt 'Time Restricting Eating' just the same as Intermitting Fasting....there's no difference.
Omg I cant believe you said brush your teeth to stop you eating...you do know that's a really old dieting habit. Most of your mid afternoon snacks are fluid but if someone else is actually hungry and their body is requiring nourishment then eat food! Dont demonize snacks 🙄
You always fast when you do not eat! Avoid snacking! Time restricted eating is intermittent fasting, it is just an other name. Yes, fasting is healthy - snacking makes just profit for the industries (food+healthcare). If you want more benefits, you can prolong your fasting. Over 16-17 hours starts the autophagy (healing of the body). Fasting is difficult is you eat much carbs or you snack. So the first step is to go on a low carb no snack diet. (Don't eat if you are not hungry, don't drink fruit juuces they are just sugar). Then you will not have problems not to eat for longer periods (16-17 hours). If you cause a spike in your blood sugar eating carbs or other snacks then it will fall rapidly and you will feel hungry! Go keto and you will have no problems with fasting.
Well if I want to eat 2 hours I wake up I wed to wake up at 5am 😂😂 we all need to work for ourselves and quit this shitty office jobs then, when you have to stick to the office hours
It's just the same old stuff but given a shiny new name. If this way of eating was any good then; why arent we all doing it now...there's a reason why not.

ideal heath regimen. you got everything covered. Fasting, low carb high protein resistance training and 10 k steps. Keep going.
@@drsakshisargamShe means loose skin
That's fantastic.

I eat once a day only.
Real Food only.
Drink once a day only Distilled Water Celtic Salt.
