your first date reminds me a lot of when I met my husband when I was in Senegal. for our first date he invited me to his family's house to drink tea and that date lasted 6 hours just talking in the living room. And there was this spot after we would go out at night or go to dinner we will sit on the water and it was so quiet and peaceful there was a river it was the most romantic thing and every time we go back there I always make him take me there cuz it's like it was just peaceful and quiet and serene

The way you described how wedding guests just stroll casually into your venue is the same way it happens in Nigeria.
Almost all the people would come around if they are chanced. That's part of the communal living that Africans practice.
My sister's wedding is in April, so we are expecting a lot of guests.

I remember your wedding videos from when you first released them. What a beautiful bride you were and it was a beautiful day! You were treated like the queen that you are. The ancestors themselves welcomed you home through your husband's family. As for your husband, that first date was his way of introducing the woman he had chosen to be his life partner to his community. You may not have realized it then, but that's what was happening. Here in America a woman feels special when a man introduces her to his mom. Well your husband introduced you to his entire extended family!

I had a wedding ceremony and reception in the States and there were local Senegalese people who just showed up to my parents' home for the reception and my husband had only been in the US for 7 months so we had no idea who they were lol...it was great though because it ended up being a beautiful party with both cultures inter mixing

I really like your story about your date, it resonates with me (I am originally from Europe). I have had several African American friends over the years, I feel that they are affected by growing up in broken families, by being disconnected from their roots/history - it is subtle, but it is important dimension of life. Humans need more than food and shelter to thrive. Maybe one day you will open a travel agency for people seeking such connection :).

Thanks 4 sharing experiences with me. Love y’all 1st date. Casual and earthy. Which I prefer as well since I am a no frills seasoned lady. Love to walk and talk and take in the scenery. Your wedding pics are beautiful! Glad to hear everything fell in place with the wedding planner. He did an awesome job for you. Ps. I love y’all door, I guess it’s the door to home. It is gorgeous!

Wish you all the very best in your married life. You are a total African Queen indeed and deserve the best. You obviously appreciate authenticity and natural things and not synthetic things that hold no meaning. A date under a tree is definitely superior to one in a restaurant because its RAW and brings out the real people. As you say, its ORGANIC. Loved your video.
