African Americans folks (Blacks) coming to AFRICA are not necessarily foreigners. Although, they're not absolutely conversant with the continent, taking the time to realistically research and study the ins and outs of the situation; is a great step to pursue.
I am in agreement with you. Wishing you and family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New year!! PEACE......
    Africa is indeed the future.

Thanks for the valuable information. An AA (African American) friend of mine told me that some friends were trying to visit the continent but they could not decide which country to visit because there are too many countries (54) in Africa.
After looking at several TH-cam videos , one done by Wode Maya (Africa To The World) of Zanzibar, Tanzania and the beautiful modernized capital city of Dar El Salam, and relative political stability, they visited that country. Since then, they make periodic visits to Tanzania.
Namibia is a young independent African country with lots of natural mineral resources, with some of the diamonds in the world. It is very peaceful with a small population. Thanks.

It will be difficult to mingle with the upper class when you get there. Like she said make the connection while you are in the US. For example, I have many African friends in my gym that are willing to help me, should I decide to retire to their country.

What I would add is that you probably want to talk with people who have grown up in America and their family is from the country you are going to. Such individuals are a good "middle ground". They will have an American perspective but some real practical experience in their particular country. You do not want to talk to "national cheerleaders". You want people who will be objective with you since they know both sides.

Living in Johannesburg, South Africa... I'd say using online dating apps to meet ppl is great too. I find that Tinder in the States is mostly for hooking up, but in other countries ppl use it to meet people and make friends.
Also, InterNations (I think that's the name), was a great way to meet locals and expats with different interests you may like

African Americans are not foreigner in Africa. Find a country you want to stay in and move there. African do not look at African Americans as foreigner. Just like an African americans will move from state to state in the United States that's how Africans move about Africa. Every country is like a state in the United States. Visit first and decide where you want to live. The authorities in these countries (states) will allow you a dual citizenship if that's what you want. Africa is for Africans.
