  • I decided to buy some rock sliders instead of building them to save time. Unfortunately the installation was much harder than I anticipated, and multiple modification were necessary. But at least it gave me a good platform to start from.

After 6.5 months I received the same sliders you bought. I can tell you that I had all the same issues you had. On top of that, they forgot to give me the extensions to work around the rear trailing arm mount. I was glad I saw your video before doing the install as it gave me a good idea as to what I was in for. Still, I think they look really good and should stand up to a lot of abuse I throw at my 91 driving around the highways in Dallas.

Thanks for this post, I’ll scratch that company off my list. What a joke, those 1” tunes are going to taco right up.

The sliders are well built, as far as toughness goes. Thick walls. The fitment is the main problem.

I was a bit disappointed by the tubes as well, should be at least 2", but they are thick. I Jacked up the side of my 80 on the sliders so they are pretty tough.

I know what brand those are. I am not happy with them the legs to the frame are way to small. Had similar fitment issues on the install. Would not recommend. I plan on replacing them with custom units down the road.

I purchased these from a guy that was selling them. They had not been unwrapped. I have tried to install them on my 97 80 series and can not see how these will fit. I can see how these can be extremely frustrating if you have to cut, bend, and drill, etc. The directions do say some bending may need to be done but dang.

Anther nice video, thanks. It seems odd to bolt the body, which is rubber mount to the frame, to the slider which are hard mount to the frame, Is that typical to most sliders? Thanks again for the videos, I'm going through your library now, they're all good.

I agree, a weird way to mount these rock sliders. I'm hoping to modify them again soon, to eliminate the body mount, and give some clearance from the rocker panels. Currently they rattle against the body because they're so close.

What brand sliders did you get? Lots of choices out there.

Hey, PM me on Instagram at learn.do.overcome
I would communicate the brand privately. There are not many options for the 91-91 Land Cruiser unfortunately. If you have the means to weld up your own it may be a better option in the end.

For those wondering, the sliders are rocky road sliders. Stick to white knuckle off-road sliders if you want quality for your 80 series.
Btw, nothing wrong with saying who makes these. It’s called being honest as a consumer. They’ll have to listen and fix their mistake!
