If those seat brackets are for your LandCruiser specifically, I would have returned it all, and everyone should also. This would force their hand to fix the QC issue. That's unacceptable.
Corbeau would like to inform everyone that the brackets for the 80 Series have been revised! Interestingly, we had the vehicle in our facility on the same day that Ricky's brackets were delivered. Ricky has received our updated version, which is now in production, and his installation was successful! If anyone has questions about the revisions made, please feel free to reach out to us directly.
i had the same issues with my brackets for my 1989 Toyota pickup....i even made sure i called and gave all my measurments over the phone because i heard everyone had fitment issues. Great job on all the videos! always enjoy them.
I was thinking the same exact thing man. I did talk to them and they said they were more than willing to figure it out, but it was quicker for to me to just modify them myself.
I’m buying an fzj80 next weeked, super stoked but I wanted to say that your videos are really informative and I will definitely be following you and your build! Keep up the great content!
That tailgate storage is probably one of the best mods ever. I think solvefunction has a strut mod that you can do also to have a slow opening hatch. Really helps with the weight.
Thanks for posting about the seat brackets, I have been going back and forth between them and the planted brackets. Looks like I am going planted. My question is it looks like you’re still pretty close to the wheel, have you looked into the 4” extension they offer to move the seat back?
First, the tailgate door does look better with the galvanized metal trim around the edges of the opening, and evens out the waffle edge of the factory tailgate. The steering wheel cover made me smile. I remember back in the 70's installing genuine simulated leather steering wheel covers on several of our cars. They stretched over the wheel like your did, but didn't require a needle to sew it up. The ones we could buy had a sorta plastic "thread" that was similar in color to the cover we were installing. Hey, for $2.99, how could you ask for more. 😅
for the brackets, I think you can just pull the tab towards the back or hammered down and pushed in and should have been ok. I did a friend's of mine fj and about to do mine. didn't have to cut or expand the holes
I put a center console from a 2001 Chevy Tahoe in my LX450. 2 cup holders front & rear, tons of storage & 12v outlet in the back. It took some tweaking, and the 2nd row of seats don't fold over all the way anymore..... but I absolutely needed the upgrade!
I’m probably going to do 4.88s. The 1FZ is not the engine that will be in this cruiser forever. I don’t wheel with a heavy foot so I may be able to scoot by with 5.29s but the weak pinion scares me.
BPFabricating aka bulletproof fabricating and you can use my discount code rm12% to get 12% off. I don’t receive any kickback. This is solely for the viewers benefit.
I wrapped my 98 4R's steering wheel with a light brown steering wheel cover from the same company. Agree it took some time and untangling and all that but it's a really great feel, looks great, and widens the OEM steering wheel just enough to be the right thickness IMO
Man, I think you were super kind to Corbeau, I looked up the prices and you mentioned the bracket prices specific to the LC, dang these guys have to do better than that. And I've seen enough of your videos, I know you install items to their specific requirements, shame on Cordeau. I would never buy from them after seeing your video unless you sent you, free of charge a new correct set. That thing is looking great though Ricky, it's been fun to watch this transformation take place.
@@RM_Garage Yeah they need to fix that for sure, but i am loving your build, also just stumbled upon your 1st gen 4Runner build too.😉 Looking forward to watching those videos as well.
Kind of. I am 205 lbs and my foot spans the tailgate lid opening so it doesn’t put direct stress on the center section which would be the weak point. I wouldn’t stand there but I’ve crawled over it getting into the back of the truck and it was fine. You can create a brace out of 2 pieces of angle iron like what Delta does, and wedge it into the inner middle part of the tailgate to provide strength.
Any thoughts on re-doing the seat upholstery instead of buying new seats? I have a 93 LC as well. I have to re-do the carpet as well, but that's another story.
Another good Video, great neutral color choice, very clean. curious why you didn't just cut the bolt tabs off the seat brackets and just re-weld correctly measured tabs (common issue w/ alot of after market seat brackets). still I love the quality and effort your putting into this, Its a different type of restore when you have a love for the vehicle your doing. Instead of just View's, and it shows can hear it (the excitement)when your talking about the next steps... keep it goin
If you don't like the color match on anything you did in the interior, use SEM color coat. I did my whole steering wheel after the one i bought from the UAE ended up the wrong color. Been holding up great for over a year now.
I did moab seats in my land rover, and the seat brackets were an absolute nightmare. They came in with those same cj/yj instructions, and were so far off from what I needed for my truck. Had to cut and weld my own brackets in the end.
Your solution for the seat bracket was to take the thing out and cut that tab off to make a new tab that fits over the hole, especially since you know how to weld.
I'm confused? The documentation said they are for cj/yj direct bolt in... Which would be a jeep. They're marketed for the 80 by the manufacturer? Crazy
They’re saying the seats are a direct bolt in without their brackets for a jeep. The company makes brackets for nearly every model of vehicle you’d put these in though.
I sound like a keyboard warrior i know but were the brackets side specific? Im personally just curious looking for options when it comes to purchasing seats myself vs keeping oem. And were the seats worth it in your opinion I will sleep on a couch over a bed at times looking for outside perspective
@@sethbooker3335 They were side specific and were installed on the right side, they just don't fit. I think they're a nice seat. Probably a lot of seat swaps you could do from the junkyard for cheaper. Or you could go more expensive and get Scheelmann seats. I think for the price, they're good.
A rip if your going to do a steering wheel, ,leave it on the column, jack the front wheels up in the air. Your sitting comfortable, the job stays relative.keep a beer nearby
That bracket issue is ridiculous, especially since it seems to happen for everyone that buys them. Corbeau must have a bad template that they are working with, or don't inspect them after welding. If it was me though, I would have tried to bend the bracket to get the holes to line up instead of making the hole larger.
@@RM_Garage good to know. You fill up the cab for sure. I like these, but I’m just a bit taller than you, and have been wondering if I would fit comfortably…I’m thinking not
Why you didn't go with a second hand bmw or lexus seats. it comes from wrecked cars or totalled cars. its very common here for rebuilding landcruisers in middle east. the only useful thing a bmw has is its memory seats.
If those seat brackets are for your LandCruiser specifically, I would have returned it all, and everyone should also. This would force their hand to fix the QC issue. That's unacceptable.
Yep, they are for my land cruiser and model year specifically. Agreed - ridiculous.

I’m not sure how they are continuing to make the brackets if everyone is having issues!
I was thinking the same exact thing man. I did talk to them and they said they were more than willing to figure it out, but it was quicker for to me to just modify them myself.

Congrats and thank you!
Hey Ethan..... How's your new buggy?!?!
Some exciting adventures are ahead.... 🍻🤙🏽
Loving the interior upgrades. Shop is coming along!
Congrats on the success with your last video and the channel overall.
Appreciate it!!!
Awesome videos thank you!!!

Definitely go planted. In the video I have the seat about 80% of the way back. It can go back more

Been thinking about doing something similar!
Beautiful work! Are you selling these customizations? 20:46
Nic How to..and the Nice shop!
I am running 4:88 with 315/75r16’s. Runs great with that setup (‘97 80 triple locked).
I wouldn’t run those with 38s however (IMO).

I got the Planted seat brackets and they fit perfect, didn't have to modify anything
Where is the tailgate access panel from? I would like to get one for my Tacoma.

Your LC looks great btw
Everything is looking so good man! I now wish I ordered that seat instead of reupholstering mine. Hopefully it won't be too tedious.
Thanks man! My dream seats are the Scheelmann, but they’re so expensive.
Hi ! Nice video, I really enjoyed it. What’s the 3M scotch that you used between your Amazon panel please ? I am looking for it. Thanks
Oh I found it. Just on video lmao 😅
3M 3350 for those who want it
The tape? Yeah you got it. I just used that instead of the “correct” tape since I already had it.
@@RM_Garage what would be the correct tape ?
I used the Planted brackets, they fit perfectly.
Yeah I should’ve done the same.

I put in E92 M3 seats. Sitting about 1.5 inches higher and I am 6’4”. Wanted to be a little higher but it’s a bit much. LOL

I agree I was too nice! The fitment of the brackets was ridiculous but maybe they’ll see this and help out or at least know they have an issue to fix!

Man, I made the same mistake with the same tailgate storage.
Easy to do!

Yikes. Sorry to hear you had the same experience but glad to know it’s not only a Land Cruiser issue.

Got a 1996 land cruiser
I feel like a hammer and a large adjustable wrench would have modified those rear brackets with no cutting. I could be wrong.
A rip if your going to do a steering wheel, ,leave it on the column, jack the front wheels up in the air. Your sitting comfortable, the job stays relative.keep a beer nearby
I'm probably over simplifying the seat brackets but couldn't you have simply bent the front brackets out to get the proper fitment?
No, because then they wouldn't meet the same angle as the seat mounting "rail"
@@RM_Garage I see. The build looks 👍

What a tacky steering wheel cover. Stitching looks like bigfoot did it. Also, rubber sound deadening goes first, then the insulating pads
