The nurse/doctor was doing CPR on a character that was moving and perfectly alive. WTF?

Probably forgot to make a still animation and turn that flag on, it does look kinda funny the guy on the bed just doing normal idle animation cycles like other NPCs.

better yet, their "lying on the bed animation" looks like a standing idle animation just rotated 90°

Was also insanely easy to find most of the packs. The most laziest one was the downtown west modular pack, which they didn't even bother to change the scene. It's literally the same pictures/previews. At least the gas station they added a random NPC. Otherwise even that is 1:1
I understand people using said packs to lay out the design of how they want their game to look like, but this is just nonsense. There is no game here, they haven't shown anything on how they want the game to look like. Like you put in 40, 60$ into these packs and just copy pasta the preview build from the fucking website to sell your "game" screams scam to me.
Again... I think asset packs like this is fine, if you actually fucking transform it into your own design and world you want your game to look like. But instead here They simply put together these packs with no effort using the pre-made build, throw together a script and shit out this video in 3 hours in hopes to just drive up pointless hype to bait idiots into thinking there is a game here.
(Also the stolen Half life 2 destroyed car asset is funny as well, whether the devs did that or someone uploading their pack to the store did that)
So they didn't even pay for the assets, they just used the free demo? All I can see its scam, honestly, I don't buy it AT ALL. LOL
"Why Australia?"
Australia has a very big Arma 3 RP scene, every time I've played in the last few years 3/4 of the populated servers were running Arma Life. I guarantee all of these projects are guys who think they will make the next big thing as an Arma Life X GTA crossover by pasting marketplace assets into unity/unreal.
Also it's pretty cheap to get an ABN for a new company. And it's not America/EU but English speaking so American/EU laws don't necessarily apply causing legal issues, that is if you're willing to hire a lawyer remotely should there be issues. Plus there's government grants available for games companies. Basically it's a bit of a perfect storm for "maybe we'll make a good game, but, if we don't we don't care".

people who still see game devs the way they did when they were little are the same people falling for this. as if the devs were some magical game maker wizard, not realizing every single item and interaction is a designed and coded event and that "doing whatever you imagine" implies someone coded the entire damn world.

someone put it best when they said the world's most realistic RP game ( I think at the time they were talking about identity) is impossible to make. the technology isn't there yet and even if it was you can't simply design the worlds most realistic RPG in a year. RDR2 took something like 8 years if I'm remembering right, and you can't even pick things up like in skyrim or fallout. imagine that but even more complicated and it starts to make sense. you can have that game but at the expense of your entire drive (assuming you have a terabyte to spare because there's no way this is gonna be smaller than COD) and you would need like 1.5 terabytes of ram with an AMD thread ripper CPU. GPU doesn't matter too much as you're not looking for 4K graphics... just a game that can do everything... I'd recommend a 2070 at minimum because grass and other textures but your main issues will be with the game having to store all of the little things you decided to change in random access, and having to store the game itself as a game that can do everything is expected to be large enough to match that in terms of file size... you would also need an SSD as you would be looking at load times longer than your lifetime if it's loading the entire world plus all the shit you decided to change (some of this can be fixed via optimization however it's not bloody magic and there's only so much that can be done without a loading screen ever 20 minutes.
Every single roleplaying game promised by an indie dev is going to be a scam and underwhelming, because they have nowhere near the funds, resources, and skills to create such a game. We're going to have to see if Leslie Benzie's "Everywher3" really is a roleplaying game, because only someone with the funds and skills of a Rockstar can create a good roleplaying experience that isn't just a UE4 asset flip with Brazilian servers and The Culling 2 graphics.
Right Rockstar is sitting on a gold mind makes me wounder if gta6 will be more role-playing online this go around only time will tell not gona hold my breath tho but ya they could make the best damn rp game if they listened to the community (not the kids that want easy gameplay crap)
Replacing assets is like saying "yeah, we will make your entire house out of cardboard and then, at a later date, just swap in the bricks"... Huge red flag. Speaking as a dev, you will either make your own and improve them along the way, or you will buy 'em and stick with them.
Exactly. There's usually no point in wasting money on store assets if you will swap them out anyway. When prototyping, simple geometry or built-in assets are usually just fine. And why not wait with the trailer until you have made some assets yourself? I think most people would be more forgiving of poor quality homemade assets (that you will improve on) instead of store assets.
Yup. The process is pretty tedious too. You model ( often retopologise and bake it), UV unwrap, apply pbr textures. This stuff takes a while and there are so many things in between these steps that can go wrong. You often have to go back and fourth. Especially to begin with.
Most of these scammers (often exclusively) use assets made by actual 3D modellers. Makes me think that a lot of these have little to no experience creating original assets themselves.
But there is nothing wrong with using assets from the marketplace if they don't have the resources to hire artists and environments etc. How do you create a game with a budget that often comes from the pockets of developers who are mostly working as volunteers at the beginning ?
@@astronotics531 No issue with using them, no, the problem is saying they will replace them. As others mentioned as well, when you start a project the most sane thing to do is to keep to "programmer art", which is to say simple shapes and textures and slowly either buy or create production level models. But buying production level models and planning to swap them for another set later means you are damn near doubling your workload and is a horrible idea. I don't think a single project that made such claims got anywhere because people who make claims like that are either so inexperienced that they will fail even with best intentions or are doing a scam from the start.

It just looks lazy and unprofessional. We've seen these assets so many times by now.
Visuals are a large part of games and if you want to be taken seriously you should have a 3D modeller or two on your team.
The successful small indie companies usually include them and it shows. People can tell the difference..
A 3D modeller can do more than create assets aswell. They can light the scenes, plan the themes and mood, they can even 3D scan objects.
Coders are usually not artists and artists are usually not coders. Both are invaluable imo.

The low Kickstarter goal is always a red flag to me. It says "Hey, we're gonna turn and burn but we need to thit the goal to get a pay out, so lets just low ball it"

Almost every single one of these roleplaying games that have been announced and cancelled these past few years have all been scams because the devs have no clue how to make a game from scratch. Why don't they just rent a server to Gmod and start a DarkRP server. DarkRP's formula is pretty much tried and true by now and it's probably cheaper just to rent a server for this than actually trying to build a game from scratch.

GTA online and the older GTA community-created projects and Second life combined into a single game would be fun, and it seems to be what these odd life RP MMOs are trying to create.
Developing such a game seems to be way past the resources and talent these projects have, though.

Being from Melbourne, I think the reason you see so many of these "projects" coming out of Australia - the state of Victoria specifically - is that we have a very generous arts grant scheme down here. You only need to put together a very basic outline of what you intend to do and the potential outcomes and the state government will throw money at you...
No wonder this reminds you so much of RAW, the plane shot (like you pointed out) and the room with the weed growing under the blacklight are practically carbon copies of the ones from the RAW trailer, just with different assets!!!

This looks almost exactly like Identity all over again, that's what's coming to mind for me because of the prison and town center scenes. I am BEGGING these developers to actually prototype this kind of game first before they start coming to Kickstarter trying to make GTA 6... at least that's hoping they aren't just trying to scam us from the get go.

the "golden" gas station, dog remembers from New Life teasers...it's basically an exact copy of New Life just from a different angle.
I think there's definitely room on the market for a GTA Online-like standalone experience, one with actual depth and meaningful content from day 1, (something GTA Online still struggles with after almost a decade,) but that would require an enormous amount of resources and at least a medium-sized team with decades of combined experience. My gut instinct says this obviously won't be that game.

@@DoomingPlays I did some digging into both and yeah it's the same model. It's just the dumb bright lights because these devs don't know what they're doing drown out the textures. I'm not sure if it's just stolen or ported legally?
The other hilarious part is the entire gas station with the car there and guy standing next to it.... 100% is all UE4 bought asset. Infact the devs are so lazy they just used the gas station 1:1 unchanged from the preview pictures of the gas station pack. The car is in the same place, the cones are in the same place... The only difference is they stuck 1 NPC randomly beside the car.
If you're gunna buy a fucking asset, then USE IT and CHANGE it to how you want your game to look. This is absolute nonsense and a waste of time and shows nothing of how the game is to look because the devs did NOT design this gas station configuration.

any realistic open world rp game would cost at least 200m that lowballing you have to make a large map, have extensive gameplay features in at least 4 professions criminals, cop, firefighter and surgeon.

Why do these indie game companies always launch these projects that are just super massive in scope. A game idea like this would cost 100 million+ dollars easily. I could see a company like rockstar making something like this , but not some unheard of indie company.
this is 1000% a scam. there was a couple games that look EXACTLY like this before that turned out to be scams.

"Be anything! Go anywhere!" There was another game that claimed that recently...from certain studio that had hundreds of developers CDPR I believe. If they couldn't do it in 7 years ( and longer) what makes them think they can?

I really do hope one day a competent company does try and make a game like this. GTA RP is pretty fun but the game itself is fairly limiting since it wasnt built for the kinda stuff people would want from this kinda game.
Leg clipping thru pants and sh*t animations - this really is like RAW and could be a second scam attempt from them.
Why is it that when it comes to these RPs the only option is Criminal or cop? That's a very limited scope of roleplay. FiveM has the same issue.
I don’t think there will ever be a massive RP game that doesn’t just boil down to cops vs robbers. No one wants to play as a shopkeeper in a city where helicopters are crashing everywhere and everyone is just blowing shit up. The best proper RP games are mods for games like Arma3, where the mod community is small enough to avoid clusterfuck gameplay, and the mod creators can just focus on providing good gameplay.
