I don't think this dev set out to try and scam people, but through complete and sheer incompetence, he did fuck over a bunch of people. But... so many warning signs were on this kickstarter. FFS I am thinking about starting a youtube channel just to evaluate kickstarter games and warn people on which ones are bad and which look legitimate. How do people... not see these red flags?
the guy seems like he needs therapy........ it sucks cause i understand what he is going thro but is using lies to cover up faults, which will lead to more issues. people don't understand that these are people you can't treat people like shit when it's a video game. I remember when it first was talked about. Every time anyone had a question asking "is this going to be in the game?" every single time the answer was Yes. When I saw that I knew something was very fishy. The "yes" answers continued the entire time. Seemed way off.

This might sound cruel, and I really don’t mean it to be, but I’m not buying either the tumor or the dev team. The dev team seemed way to concerned about Matt’s PR than the game itself. Pulling all of their social seems like Matt removing the game from everyone’s mind. Slip into the shadows, never to be heard from again. If the tumor is real, that sucks. I know the feeling. I had cancer and I lost family to cancer too. He has my sympathy. But based on all of the information I’ve been given and the track record of both sides, I’m just not buying it

If you had more than 20°C equivalent of IQ you would understand what they meant when they said "combined experience". Its what small time teams do in order to attract potential customers. Combined experience literally means, for example, if you had 5 years exp in game dev and I had 2 years exp in game dev and a third guy had 1 year exp, together we would say "we are a team which has 8 years of combined veterancy / exp in game dev"
Its ok though if one guy does sound and the other only knows 3d modelling you kinda "round it off" to show yourself in the best light possible.
So true. The new team should've created a blog post or video introducing themselves with a list of games they have worked on prior to Police 1013. I remember being skeptical when Outlast first came out in 2013 thinking it would be some dumb cheap horror bullcrap but I was proven wrong after Red Barrels showed their credentials on their website; that they worked on Prince of Persia, Assassin’s Creed, Splinter Cell and Uncharted prior. That's all I needed to know and I effing love Outlast to this day.
A bland Facebook post like 6:27 means nothing if you have no proof that you have 30 years experience in the games industry. Same goes to Matt Norman. He claimed he had 5+ years experience but where's the evidence? If he had worked on Portal 2 or Rayman Origins, show us. I strongly feel they were way too ambitious with Police 1013; they should've made it into a simple 2D pixel art game instead.
I remember hearing about this game like waaaaay way back and thinking it was gonna be like the coolest game ever. Shame its been cancelled. Damned shame.

Definetely doesn't look like a "new developer" is the one to write such a message. I mean even if everything before it could be written by someone else, 12:04 part is VERY STRANGE for new dev to say. Never seen new employees say anything of this type about those who were before. Even in POLITICS. Even if they really hate team before them. And it says much. And in gamedev - did you EVEN see somebody post comments like that? Especially "experienced devs"?
All i've seen was in caliber of: "Well, we are a new team, hello, we will be making changes to what we came in. Team before us is gone. Farewell and good luck for them". Never seen any punches to teams before like that.

Glad this is finally over and Police 10-13 is done and clear off of your conscience BigFry. It's become clear through your videos, other content creators and Matt's own dev blogs that zero progress has been made with this game in the many years it has been "worked" on.
Matt just had to find a way to seperate himself from this "game" before the deadline of the playable Alpha/Demo for this game was reached that he announced. He knew he had nothing, he knew his years of lies were about to come to light.
If this new development team has decades of experience in the field, why would they come into a project with a horrible PR history, practically zero legitimate work completed and no funding? It makes no sense.
All in all Matt, if the tumor is real, get better. If it's all just a fabricated lie, you've been a great roll model for your family.
I'll only buy this game if they make a DLC where we get to arrest Bigfry, Sid Alpha, and a brain Tumor where all three are an evil super power working together to bring down the entire police force.

Benign Brain tumors aren't necessary death sentences these days if you get proper treatment, my dad has had a benign brain tumor for almost 15 years now, he had Gama knife surgery which is pretty much an operation where they place a strainer like helmet that is secured to your head and they shoot hundreds of Gama rays at the tumor in order to shrink it. My dad's tumor shrunk close to 90 percent. It's non invasive, no need for crippling surgery with long healing time. Try looking into it, hope it helps.
Edit: I'm not sure if the surgery is responsible for this, but I forgot to mention over the years his hearing has been impacted drastically, he still hears, but he needs a hearing aid now. Not saying the surgery is responsible but I thought I'd mention this just in case. Still a small price to pay.

Have you checked out Flashing Lights? I believe its a single indie dev working on it, but it has gotten a fair amount of updates in a more reasonable amount of time, compaired to some other police simulators we know.
I just feel bad for the backers cause theyll never get this game. I'm watching this years later and this sounds like a lot of kickstarter games where they promise a lot and 4 years later they still have nothing to show for it. To me it sounds like there was never a game to begin with. And this brain tumor real or not is just an excuse to take the money and run.
They make these life and death or really grim excuses all the time.
If the brain tumor is real, then I sincerely hope he somehow manages to recover. Even if his game and his reputation mostly went up in flames, nobody deserves to die so young. Also, not to be a bit of a kid here, but a similar game, Emergency Response Liberty County, on roblox, is so similar to this game. It was made by 2 dev's. It came out in less than a year and a half. And it is pretty detailed as well. They also were always talking to their fans and discussing what could be done to improve the game with the haters. So if that says anything about 1013, yeah. Its gonna be awhile.

It was never going to be a game. The guy had a great idea and no doubt worked really hard at it, but there was no chance he was going to finish it and no chance it would have been a commercial success. I feel really bad for the guy, he just didn't seem to have the means to execute his vision and if the health concerns are legit then he has made the right choice and backed out of this while he can so he can be with his family in the real world.

I was excited for this game at one time. I donated $100 a couple years ago to it. Now the website is gone, the discord is gone, the social media accounts haven't had updates in forever, r/pcgaming on Reddit says it's been officially cancelled, and there's barely any mention of Wingman Games anywhere on any of Matt Norman's stuff. Everything he's promoting is just his film projects now. I would say it's officially done.

Being a Cancer Patient myself, I now understand this Saga after seeing this last video on Matt's Police game and learning that Matt is a Cancer Patient, the Mental trauma can creep into other parts of our lives especially professionally. I think closure is the best course of action on your part as anything Matt has personally directed personally towards you could have been partly due to the cloudy reasoning brought on by his sickness. Cancer and the afflictions and mental symptoms induced by the treatments can cause reality to become quite distorted by many. In the End, Matt probably did try his best and, because of his physiological state was just not able to handle the normal thrashing that commonly occurs in the gaming industry.
I lost my father to cancer over a year ago and all I can tell to you, is I pray for you and wish you the best, good luck friend.

I am so disappointed that this is over. I have been looking forward to this game for a couple years now. But I agree with what you said. I do think it’s a big hoax and it’s over
You want to feel sorry for the guy. But then common sense kicks in and you think "He's lied before countless of times. What's changed this time?".
If i had a tumor, replying to a bigfry video conment section proving that i really do have it would probally never happen.. But i would instead be with my family and maybe reply to them?
With how narcissistic Matt is I HIGHLY doubt this will be the end.
I think at some point in the future he is going to “return” by saying his devotion to the game and love for the game and supporters is the reason to “return” to making the game and will give another date about a release months down the road.
And just note I put “return” in quotes because let’s be honest the way that message was typed out, how many times they patted him on that back, more than likely its just Matt himself as he has done before.

Matt is profesional?? Animations is bad, especialy left/right. No level desing. Camera work is bad. FPS is also bad and ect.... So where is profesionality? Incredible work?? When he have part of working game and gameplay is good, that is good work!!!

Is there a limit of time in which people can take legal action against the dev for any money invested and would this move perhaps be a way to get people to wait until that limit has expired? Anyone know?
