The game developers did a good job with not holding your hand forever. They show you the basics and then let you go. I'm amazed how some players complain about having to explore the environment. Some want everything to be given to them. Discovery is the reward here. No guts, no glory. Also, some of the best tools are the smallest ones like Creature Decoys. You don't have to use power for shields when you send the Leviathans on a wild goose chase with the decoys. Think smarter in using the environment to your benefit. You figure things out after a while. Some players are just stubborn and suffer for it. I'm playing the game again, but modded. It's really fun now. Enjoy many of the things you wish you had during the standard play-through. I recommend doing this strictly for the fun of it. I enjoy your journey through this game.

Very entertaining episode. Really enjoyed the trip to the depths with the cyclops. Wasnt boring!
You said we can go willd so:
    1. Ez way to have enough food and water would be growing some lantern trees you found on one island. They give a bunch of water and food and they are a lot of them on 1 tree. if you are fast enough you can completely live of the nutrient blocks while outside of your base.
    2. To solve the game the seamoth with 900 depths is enough. You only need a second air tank to swim to the giant generator from the giant tree
    3. Outside grow bedths. You never used them. Very useful for growing the blood oil plants and different mushrooms. i think 3 seeds and 1 plant per planted seed
    4. Your power problems would be solved building a thermal plant at the nearby thermal vents combined with a power transmitter which covers a huge distance

Now that there are no spoilers, there are 4 entrances to the Lost River. The Deep Grand Reef (Deep Degasi Habitat), The Blood Kelp Trench (Near the Sea Treaders, specifically under that wreck you explored in the first part of the episode. The Northern Blood Kelp Zone, which is where Lifepod 2 is, and finally the entrance you first located, between the Bulb Zone and Mountains.
I prefer to use the Mountains/Bulb Zone entrance with the Cyclops, because getting down the other 3 entrances is a little tight and there's lots of stuff to get hung up on. But there is no "right" or "wrong" way. The only problem with the Bulb Zone area is you can't explore it before repairing the Aurora because it's in the radiation zone, and you don't get the radiation suit until after the Aurora explodes.
Also, I think the farming episodes are fine. That's just how part of the game goes. I think you're making great progress. Hopefully there's 2 eps left and not just 1.

Got my beer and my burgers, I'm ready to watch 😁 cant wait for below zero.
Also it never gets old to watch people put power cell chargers inside the cyclops thinking it will charge the cell, when in reality all it does is siphon power from the cell installed into the cyclops power system and transfer it to the cell in the charger. Also you dont need the decoys If you know how the cyclops stealth system works.
Theres a small faint bubble around your cyclops on the radar. That's your sound signature, potential threats swimming around you will appear as a red dot. If that red dot enters the the faint bubble. It will detect you and possibly attack. If it does, activate the shield generator and try to get away from it and regain stealth. You can make sound bubble smaller by activating Silent Running and lowering your speed. I just stay normal speed and it's mostly fine for me when dodging the ghost leviathan. Using sonar doesnt increase your sound signature. But uses more power, shield generator takes a lot more power. Having thermal recharge is nice for when you take the cyclops to lost river, since theres thermal vents everywhere.

If only they'd let you build a nuclear or bio reactor inside. It makes plenty of sense in the game's logic, and there's plenty of room for either or both, . Add some growbeds, and voilà: infinite energy autonomy, just like at home base. Waste time steadily removing leeches from the 'clops? Nah, it's no longer a bother.

@@normalgamergal Yes, it did! There used to be a "Power efficiency module" for the cyclops, which basically made everything that took power from the cyclops take half as much, including power cell chargers, letting you infinitely recharge power cells. Because that's obviously too powerful (and silly :P) to be left in the game, they replaced the upgrade with the "Engine Efficiency Module" so that the power bonus only effects the engine, and not other things like chargers, removing the exploit.

The power cell charger in cyclops loophole was a thing early in the development of the game, but they fixed it.
Not sure if you ever found it, but there is a thermal charging module for the cylcops so it will help if you bring it deep. But in general I just tend to bring an extra set of cells in a locker.
Driving the cyclops without using the 3 cameras is not fun for sure. And you can sneak past every leviathan by going slow and/or using "silent running". Just keep in mind using SR also drains battery faster. Going slow also use far less energy per distance traveled. You can go quite far using slow speed.
By your comments you seem to think in the traditional way of using force to kill what you don't want instead of avoiding it or incapacitating. Subnautica is different in this aspect.
You can easily kill even a leviathan with enough patience using the Prawn as its punch and drill arm do quite a bit of damage. Takes maybe like a minute to kill a baby ghost leviathan with constant drilling and punching.

I'm so glad you realised that you can't make infinite magic energy by having a power cell charger in your Cyclops 😂
I made a ton of power cells, and made a locker for them aboard the Cyclops. Then I had multiple power cell chargers at my stationary habitats. I also always kept at least one backup power cell in my other vehicles. I figured if I used a power cell to get somewhere, then another would almost certainly take me back home. Same with food, water and medkits; I always had emergency supplies stashed in all vehicles and habitats.
Then game really appealed to the squirrel in me, I suppose 😂❤
I could never be bothered to bring the Cyclops down into the caverns past the Ghosts, I was too chicken to get near them in something as cumbersome as the Cyclops. Instesd, I loaded the Cyclops up with everything I needed to make a fully functioning base, including supplies for agriculture and multiple power sources. I dropped the Cyclops outside the entrance to the cave containing the second Degasi habitat, then did runs in my storage-packed Seamoth back and forth until I had myself a fully equipped habitat, with an additional Prawn suit called Deep Fried, on account of the habitat it was to explore 😂

Treader rhymes with redder. :) Tread is a synonym for 'walk', or travel. Treads are also the grooves on car tires and, sometimes, boots
Finally, a resource gathering episode! I spend a lot of time doing this, I keep one large locker full of each resource type. Lead is the most difficult thing to find. Other than nickel, but the whole game you barely use any of it. I think I find more random stuff like wrecks on my resource runs, than by following the game's clues. There are a few biomes that you may never see if you only go by lifepod radio signals. But resource hunting is necessary for me, because I like having a second, larger base that gets decorated. Sometimes a small outpost down around the 800 meter mark, between Disease Research and the Cove Tree. It's just nice to get out of the Cyclops to be honest, despite how large that sub is, it just feels claustrophobic. Zipping around in the Sea Moth is much more enjoyable. The game sets you up in such a way that you can do everything needed with just your starter base. But some people who put 100 hours in build in every biome! I get bored of playing before I would go that far

Those are for the shuttlebug (item jumperegg) and, believe it or not, the reefback leviathan (item reefbackegg). The reefback egg actually shares a model with the egg for the spadefish... which is interesting because the spadefish is the only fish in the game that has eggs but also can just be picked up by hand. But yeah, the shuttlebug and the reefbacks will hatch and breed just like any other fish if you spawn them in. Fully functional, just not implemented in the game. Very strange.
