I honestly found it easier in some ways not having to worry about finding schematics for the depth modules and vehicle upgrades. The scariest part is getting past the sea dragons without the prawn suit, but it's very doable.
My cyclops was fully self sufficient. I had those fruit trees for food and water i had a bed, chips and coffee maker, fish tank, and other food plants. I had 12 ion power cells and 24 power cells, plenty of water bottles and salt, i had enough materials stored on board to make a moonpool and scanner room, bio reactor, thermal reactor and water maker. I could build a base anywhere in the game with the resources on board and i could recharge my batteries by thermal vents or in the lava zone i also had 14 regular batteries for my tools. I could survive anywhere!
I've actually done a playthrough like this, though not as strict as 'never build anything except cyclops'. I did basically completely ignore base building and vehicles to speed through getting a cyclops up and running and then basically used it for the rest of the run as my main base, even getting rid of the original small base I'd made that was a single space wide
If reapers scare you too much or your not willing to take the risk, there are 2 locations that give you the three engine fragments needed! The first is the crag spires/spikes, the most you'll ever have to worry about is a few bone sharks, though they are as easy to avoid and outmaneuver as stalkers. Here you'll find 2 engine fragments. (Your also bound to find the life pod there too, be sure to use your SCANNER on the markiplier doll!) The other location is the UNDER WATER floating islands, NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH THE FLOATING ABOVE WATER ISLAND, again, its just a few bone sharks you'll be dealing with! Here you can find the final fragment after searching around the outside of wreck the, there's no need to go searching in the deep water below, remember, almost all the cyclops engine fragments look cylindrical in shape! Swim Safely!
even if thi challenge is outdated: the Floating islands has Lantern Fruit, each fruit is 10 water and 3 food. they come in a tree producing never ending amounts, and on my cyclops I had 2 interior growbeds which each hold 4 trees. Each tree has like 10 plants, so that's a free infinite food supply. You can also fit a bed in the area that has the Pilot wheel, meaning sleep and time skips, and then by rotating the lockers 90 degrees you can fit 2 in the same area as 1, doubling the total storage space. This wasn't a challenge for me, it's my main save file lol
Yo, I might give this a shot. I've done 3 hardcore runs, and honestly hardcore hardly feels like the stakes are raised. This looks like an interesting way to squeeze a few more hours out of Subnautica.
@@Budijux hardcore doesn't really make a difference, you're hardly ever going to die in the game anyway, the only thing about hardcore is it's literally JUST, that you have one life, that's all it does.
i really love this game and i played and watched it from the alpha versions and before the ghost leviathan was added and it has evoleved so much its so cool to watch its like a little child watching it grow up
i like the idea of calling this the "mobile home challenge" lol. interested to see how this works out, and if it can be applied to the other subnautica game(s)???
Yes, indeed, i think it's more interesting to know if you could beat the secons game without base, bc the end is 1000m deep and you can't build the modificator, maybe you could swim there yourself with some oxygen tanks, idk
This is basically how I play the game usually, but with a starter base. With the no base limitation, the only difficult part is storage until you get the cyclops, and then having to make tons of power cells constantly.
Here good spots for future plays. Cyclops engine fragments: Rear of Aurora * severe danger of Reapers.* wreck leaning on the quarantine enforment platform island *Low chance risk of reaper and oxygen* Underwayer floating islands* oxygen risk and bone sharks.* Inside the Aurora Hull: mushroom, edge of blood kelp, *can't recall rest: potentially at the wreck at the weapon.* Bridge: Edge of blood kelp, mushroom, maybe around the deep grand reef. Most of this was from memory I haven't touched subnautica for like 5 months. So some maybe false.
I like the fact that everybody goes to Crash Zone for engine fragments while there are lots of them at the underwater islands (only bone sharks there, no reapers)
On my complete Subnautica run, I turned my Cyclops into a moving Base. I used Plant Pots and put all the food plants in the Cockpit. And filled the lower level with lockers, as well as many on the upper level.
why, it's literally the first thing I try to build lol, I've never really dove into base building, as the cyclops is literally the only base I need, completely fill it with storage lockers and you'll never need to worry about not having the materials to craft something and having to go all the way back home just to craft something
@@slimyfish You know saving is a feature right? Also at that point if you somehow manage to get the cyclops destroyed you have bigger issues than losing progress, it's honestly one of the easiest things to protect, warpers ignore it, sandsharks seem to ignore it. Reapers won't bother you unless their inside the sound bubble, silent running fixes that completely. Shield generator exists, and if something is attacking you, jump out, half charge on a stasis rife to freeze it, then full charge shoot it to get it stuck there for a while, then it's completely out of range by the time it's unstuck. Don't even get me started on creature decoys that completely make all the other things I mentioned pointless. Crabsquids are attracted to light, just turn the lights off. Or better yet, stasis rifle, and just go kill it
i'm posting this now, i'm not halfway through the video yet. Part of the dream of using a Cyclops is the utility of also having the seaglide OR the Prawn suit with you. And you need the Moon pool to create upgrades for the Cyclops and those two other vehicles. Would be completely understandable if you built a moon pool as your only "base build" structure only because of these reasons. Also, i wouldn't blame you if you decided to go into the Aurora to repair it's reactor so it stopped leaking radiation into the surrounding area. Thankfully you did at 19:46.
cyclops has it's own upgrade fabricator, you don't need a moonpool for it. You can put the materials to make a moonpool and whatever you want to power it in a locker, so you can plop one down whenever you want to make upgrades or something
Why are u such a scaredy cat Hes going straight for me Hes going straight for me Hes going straight for me he barely does any damage and u can tank many of his hits like its not that deep pall no pun intended
Pro tip: if you need lots of lithium, head to the enforcement platform island and follow the path up the mountain which leads to a cave containing LOTS of lithium I am not even joking. There are also some shale outcrops if you are looking for diamonds etc.
In case anyone doesn't know, you can plant and harvest 4 marblemelons in a single pot. Eat 3, replant the last. Strike it and get 4 seeds. Regrow. It's by far the most efficient way to farm and feed your bioreactor too. Marblemelons have the highest power stat of all plants.
I think I did this run by accident lmao, I've always just been a fan of mobile bases, so for my entire first playthrough i never built a permanent base (only built the moonpool for the upgrades) and only used the cyclops for literally everything
a tip for stalker teeth is to bring a stalker out of its habitat by making it chase you and drop it near a safe area and near the surface. a good place would be your spawn base. floaty thingy i forgot the name but yea, in an hour i got 2 full boxes and make sure to put a Beacon so they dont despawn.
In any of my play-throughs I never make a cyclops until the end of the game because you need one to make the shields for the escape rocket. The actual sub itself never gets used. Prawn suits never get made or used, never needed them unless I ran out of ion-cubes for story purposes. I do make seamoths though for quick travelling and portable air pockets. Never needed the cyclops or sub for getting to the lava castle or containment facility either, just use a seaglide and med kits.
Making a cyclops is actually easy stock your teeth and lithium are very easy to get. I don’t know how to make a advanced wiring kit, but I’m pretty sure for memory. It was pretty easy then lead in lubricant are also super easy. It’s weird though cause you think it’d be way harder than like the prawn, but it’s not I would qualify as harder because you need to get aerogel.
Btw the best way to get stalker teeth (from my understanding) is to make a grav trap and place it near some stalkers, then you drop like 1 meter scrap per stalker, then u just wait for them to drop their teeth (keep in mind that the stalkers can sometimes drag the grav trap away from the original location)
never seen you before but i love subnautica and you seem chill, thanks algorithm for showing me this video also why cant you use a beacon? that's not really base building it's just to mark locations on ur hud, right?
I was using the cyclops as a museum. I had finangled like 50 bookshelves into it. One day I was entering the cyclops and it instead yeeted me across the map, yeeted my cyclops to the other corner of the map, killed me. And when I fished my cyclops back out of the void EVERYTHING was gone inside.
The only creatures this man should really be afraid of are the leviathan predators and probably crayfish (Don’t judge me if I spelt it wrong or something) And I’m watching this man soil himself after a biter
In the late game you need lots of kyanite and there isnt much floating around, you'll have to mine it from outcrops and that requires not only a PRAWN but the drill arm upgrade.
When you said "titanium hunt" I shook my head. That's why you should have at least scanned the other fragments. Sure you can't build them but extra pieces give you titanium for scanning them.
You can just collect metal salvage and then put then all in one place where the stalkers are. They will be busy chewing on the metal salvage and will not touch you. Plus its a lot easier to see the teeth when you’re so close to them (there is also a sound when a tooth has spawned)
If you have the thermal upgrade you can use the cell recharge station. That way if you have a set of depleted cells, you can charge those and the cyclops in one go instead of having to come back to change cells after the first set installed on the engine fills up. I generally kept a second set of cells as back ups and parked on thermal vents to fill everything up as I hunted down sulfur and kyanite.
You should try to get charge fins which will be one of the very few ways you can actually charge your supplies. (The cyclops heat generator will be extremely useful)
Late to the party, but I just leave my thoughts here. Haven't even seen you get into the Cyclops as of writing this, but my prediction is that the hardest part of this challenge will be lack of the P.R.A.W.N drill arm. That let's you get a lot of goodies.
This is gonna be a significant issues in the Lost River. I believe nickel only spawns in large deposits outside the brine, which requires the prawn suit to get, and small nodes only inside it, so you'll have to dive for that as well as for the crystalline sulfur, though I believe only the nickel is required for depth modules while the sulfur is.. hopefully not a component of the shield module for the rocket, but I can't remember. Also, you can actually get growbed blueprints from some of the Aurora wrecks, though I'm not certain on which ones. I think somewhere between the mushroom forest and the spawn area there's one with that in the red grass or something.

even if thi challenge is outdated: the Floating islands has Lantern Fruit, each fruit is 10 water and 3 food. they come in a tree producing never ending amounts, and on my cyclops I had 2 interior growbeds which each hold 4 trees.
This looks like an interesting way to squeeze a few more hours out of Subnautica.
i tried hardcore, failed, tried again, succeded, never playing hardcore again
@@Budijux hardcore doesn't really make a difference, you're hardly ever going to die in the game anyway, the only thing about hardcore is it's literally JUST, that you have one life, that's all it does.
Based upon this video alone I totally want to see more from you. Good idea what the concept and the very smooth gameplay. Keep up the great work🎉
i really love this game and i played and watched it from the alpha versions and before the ghost leviathan was added and it has evoleved so much its so cool to watch its like a little child watching it grow up
wait Biggie... my cousin... IS THAT YOU????!!!!
i like the idea of calling this the "mobile home challenge" lol. interested to see how this works out, and if it can be applied to the other subnautica game(s)???
Yes, indeed, i think it's more interesting to know if you could beat the secons game without base, bc the end is 1000m deep and you can't build the modificator, maybe you could swim there yourself with some oxygen tanks, idk
All our playthroughs have come
Here but now they're gone
Seasons don't fear the Reaper
Nor do the wind, the sun or the rain
You can be like they are
Nive poem.
This is actually such a sick idea. Gonna try this myself
Seaglide is a vehicle.
it never occurred to me that i could carry more than one oxygen tank. I just.. never thought of it. Thank you.
This is basically how I play the game usually, but with a starter base. With the no base limitation, the only difficult part is storage until you get the cyclops, and then having to make tons of power cells constantly.
Here good spots for future plays.
Cyclops engine fragments: Rear of Aurora * severe danger of Reapers.*
wreck leaning on the quarantine enforment platform island *Low chance risk of reaper and oxygen*
Underwayer floating islands* oxygen risk and bone sharks.*
Inside the Aurora
Hull: mushroom, edge of blood kelp, *can't recall rest: potentially at the wreck at the weapon.*
Bridge: Edge of blood kelp, mushroom, maybe around the deep grand reef.
Most of this was from memory I haven't touched subnautica for like 5 months. So some maybe false.
I like the fact that everybody goes to Crash Zone for engine fragments while there are lots of them at the underwater islands (only bone sharks there, no reapers)
POV you've played so much Subnautica that leviathans don't scare you.
On my complete Subnautica run, I turned my Cyclops into a moving Base. I used Plant Pots and put all the food plants in the Cockpit. And filled the lower level with lockers, as well as many on the upper level.
I’ve never had a cyclops before having the rocket complete so I’ve never truly used it
why, it's literally the first thing I try to build lol, I've never really dove into base building, as the cyclops is literally the only base I need, completely fill it with storage lockers and you'll never need to worry about not having the materials to craft something and having to go all the way back home just to craft something
@@Just_a_Piano_ idk I just stress that if it breaks I’ll lose tons of progress
Or better yet, stasis rifle, and just go kill it
@@Just_a_Piano_ It’s kinda stupid but I think it’s scummy to reload a save. Like I cheated or something
@@slimyfish Even then like the rest of my comment said, you genuinely have to be trying to get your cyclops destroyed
I love this game. Excited for Subnautica 2. Glad it’ll have co-op.
Sub nautica below 0 is out
@@CarsonDepa yeah, I’m not talking about the DLC.
@@gwstreamsthe dlc????
huh?
@@exoskeleton3865 Below Zero is considered a stand-alone DLC for Submautica.
6:27 man I wish that's what a reaper sounded like, I would shit my pants a whole lot less often if they sounded that friendly.
i'm posting this now, i'm not halfway through the video yet.
"No vehicles" "seaglide as fast as possible"... 😂
It's fucking hilarious how dumb he is!
I was also annoyed by this
Why are u such a scaredy cat
Hes going straight for me Hes going straight for me Hes going straight for me he barely does any damage and u can tank many of his hits like its not that deep pall no pun intended
Pro tip: if you need lots of lithium, head to the enforcement platform island and follow the path up the mountain which leads to a cave containing LOTS of lithium I am not even joking. There are also some shale outcrops if you are looking for diamonds etc.
Hey Man, just started watching you and this video was.You have really high potentils, keep it up!
Is this Spamton?
Nah@@Artoriandaraisin
ah yes was.You is my favorite website
In case anyone doesn't know, you can plant and harvest 4 marblemelons in a single pot. Eat 3, replant the last. Strike it and get 4 seeds. Regrow. It's by far the most efficient way to farm and feed your bioreactor too. Marblemelons have the highest power stat of all plants.
Gon' be up a creek when you need an exosuit to drill levs' faces in with.
The Five stages of grief can be explained in this episode.
@@shinmalphur2734 Okay, but like how do you deal with the crush depth of the lava zone and lost river with just a seamoth?
The first encounter with a reaper 💀 I fucking screamed and had to change myself
Having played subnautica since it came out on Xbox, it is really funny realizing how desensitized I am to it seeing people panic while playing it
Making a cyclops is actually easy stock your teeth and lithium are very easy to get. I don’t know how to make a advanced wiring kit, but I’m pretty sure for memory. It was pretty easy then lead in lubricant are also super easy. It’s weird though cause you think it’d be way harder than like the prawn, but it’s not I would qualify as harder because you need to get aerogel.
15:04 watching bro talk about reducing consuming energy while he leaves his lights on 💀
You can't leave the planet using cyclops, you need to drive the neptune escape rocket which is a vehicle 💀
You should not be scared of stalkers they should be affraid of you
never seen you before but i love subnautica and you seem chill, thanks algorithm for showing me this video
also why cant you use a beacon? that's not really base building it's just to mark locations on ur hud, right?
Thanks you for the upload this game needs more interesting content like this 🔥
16:54 “creepy noises of the deep”
Literally not even 50m down
Awesome Video!
yoooo love your content bro
Yoooo
I was using the cyclops as a museum. I had finangled like 50 bookshelves into it. One day I was entering the cyclops and it instead yeeted me across the map, yeeted my cyclops to the other corner of the map, killed me. And when I fished my cyclops back out of the void EVERYTHING was gone inside.
The only creatures this man should really be afraid of are the leviathan predators and probably crayfish (Don’t judge me if I spelt it wrong or something)
And I’m watching this man soil himself after a biter
In the late game you need lots of kyanite and there isnt much floating around, you'll have to mine it from outcrops and that requires not only a PRAWN but the drill arm upgrade.
For stalker teeth te scanner romm helps me every playthrough(with hud chip so you can swimm around)
As soon as you decided to get the seaglide, you failed the challenge.
It's a tool he says he clasifies it as a tool even the game does its listed under tool in game lol
And don't be like"um no I've played pc🤓🥸🤓🥸" I've played all 3 versions swich xbox and pc
It’s a tool, it doesn’t have anything in common with any of the vehicles
Tip: there’s a second mushroom forest if you go northwest
12:00 we’re going back to mushroom forest 7:31 goodbye mushroom forest never coming back
the cyclops does charge power cells faster than it drains... just very slowly, like 10% more battery
I find it so funny how scared of the danger noodle levitation I tend to base in the mountains because I love the reapers they’re so cool.
You’re welcome for the stasis rifle.
I remember a time when the cyclops was quite literally indestructible
Idk if you already know this, but there's an engine fragment on the Aurora in the storage bay thing. It's in one of the big storage containers
Weeeeell the seaglide is a DPV Diver Propulsion VEHICLE
It's hilarious that he failed his own challenge.
Just get the fish into your hands and don't scary of stalkers anymore. Until you'll ended all the fish you caught.
Not even 5 minutes in, think I'll try this myself.
He also failed as soon as he made a seaglide.
