It needs some intelligent software to make it drive more easier, but even without that it is an engneering marvel. I think this is a breakthrough in offroad industry. Hope to see a production version of this offroader one day.
I have been throwing around an idea similar to this but instead of chain drive just go full hydraulic gear motors at each wheel 1k foot pounds of torque at each wheel with a 750 rpm working load, this will allow the wheels to be on legs such as 4 rear arms from backhoes this will let you literally step over anything in your way 4 more gear motors and you can spin the tires 360 degrees at any angle
chris Build it. Find an experienced designer, engineer, and fabricator. Draw up a business plan and find investors. Seek sponsorship. Do whatever, but build it, man.
Thats an amazing piece of machinery. Great build it truly has no limit it goes where you want it to and with no struggle it just crawls easily and smooth. Well great job again
I always start a project with a good cup holder and then build around it so as to always have my beer handy. This guy took that to a whole new level and built a cooler holder with a 4x4 attached to it. I guess it would be useless if it was outa reach huh? not exactly certain about the mechanisms at work here but the builder has creamed the opposition with this creation . I cant even see if two drivers are reqd. I am sure of this one thing however , that is the most capable terrain tackling vehicle with two people aboard EVER I have seen. And make no mistake as, I've witnessed some very incredible clambering,swimming,sliding,articulating feats of vehicular engineering and the usual power grit and brute ignorance smash 'n' bash the road into defeat brutes as well. THE BEST of this attack mode ever ,RIGHT HERE ! Wow!
Ze IC engine spins one, or more, hydraulic pumps that provide power to ze drive & suspension mechanisms. I just do be curious as to whether the suspension automatically adjusts itself. BTW, I DO like that cooler, aside him (NOT in the bloody-back), filled with chilled '8 Wired iStout'. Yummy!
that is awesome...but i think walking through those rocks would get you there faster...still it is an awesome view watching those machine stretches its wheels..

I'm an automation eng and its seems to me that controlling tire contact and the attitude (to the vertical) of the cab could be automated. All that's left for the pilot is pointing it and throttle/brakes. After that we could replace the pilot with a computer and enter it into the DARPA off road robotics challenge. And so tomorrow Pinky, WE TAKE ON THE WORLD...............

I've always said that if your going to go off roading it's always best to bring a cooler and have it handy.
