- Che (Cudrania tricuspidata) remains a fairly obscure fruit originating from China, where many people I've asked are entirely unfamiliar with it. This fruit can taste quite good when ripened in warm weather. While not a favorite fruit, it tastes pretty good and adds some interest to our fruit choices late in the year.

fantástic info thanks
Do you know which cultivar it is?
I just acquired 6 specimens : Darrow / Seedless / Norris & male. However I'm looking for a JF Female I read about. It would be great to know any forum or else where owners exchange about their findings 🙂
Sorry, I don't know of a variety name but got cuttings from a friend who had got it from the now defunct Oregon Exotics Nursery. I haven't tasted very many but this is the best I've tasted.
@@Figaholics did you tasted different seedless?
Yes, I've tasted two others, though no variety names were shown for those either. I've asked friends in China about this fruit and nobody I've talked to is familiar with it.
As I understand it, any che can be seedless if a male is not nearby.
@@Figaholics damn I bought two male for nothing lol... Well I'll keep them in pots and do some trial and errors 😅
I found some Korean videos on TH-cam with recipes but need to find a translator hehe...
@@Figaholics any advice for growing it? (not much info out there...)
it is actually zhe not che not qi
I mention that name in my newer video at th-cam.com/video/mjgXfVKJEnQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=MpoeL5Ab8z6XZJNd but nobody that I know of that grows this fruit in the U.S. uses the "zhe" name.

Do you grow this fruit? Where are you located? My friends in China are not familiar with this fruit and it does not appear to be widely cultivated.
@@Figaholics I am from shandong province. we do have it. but it is not cultured widely. and it is not known for its fruit but for its wood.
