Edison is bringing back the old school business plan of being honest, open, and having integrity. It also shows how venture capitalists have changed. It used to be watching a business grow and succeeded. Now it’s about control, profit, and then flipping it to a larger company. Edison is doing everything right. It may be a long term investment with slow growth, but like some of the timber in BC, it’s going to be solid wood with deep roots.
A little saying I like a lot is 'mutualism outcompetes parasitism in nature'. Working together is far more sustainable than trying to squeeze everyone of everything they've got. Edison is an excellent choice because they understand this.
Way I put it is "you climb the mountain by helping each other up, not by pulling each other down" - shame the incoming US Presidential Parasite never learned that!
I was telling my old boss I was going to retrofit my truck with the Edison kit he liked the idea and gave me a truck to do it with an upgrade to mine now I'm waiting retro kit for my truck to come out for my 2015 Ford f-350 and looking forward to buy shares in this company I love the idea and the company great people are working here to make a better product
I remember the first call for support. I got 100 bucks worth. I thought, damn they are doing far and beyond what I was told was crazy in the 80s. I have to support them.
I am 20 years old, in my second year of Mechanical Engineering. I was honestly discouraged the more I learned, when I realized how everything seems to be manufactured with money over everything. My passion for cars was guilt-ridden to the state of the environment, especially as the promised solution of electric cars turned out not to be the promised absolution. It is refreshing to see a company with these ethics and values, and has refreshed me with the hope that more companies follow in your path to revitalize the auto industry to serve consumers and protect the environment at the same time. I applaud you guys for all you are doing, and I even tried to invest in your company with the little money I had lol. I hope that in the coming years, I am able to join your mission and provide anything I can offer for such advances in technology as you are doing. Cheers boys

News of the pending Golden facility is extremely exciting the local and surrounding areas have a huge very talented workforce. I'll be looking for your next posting.
Its like a breath of fresh air in todays world listening to a small business owner and the companies old school core values that have long dissappeared in todays share holder driven demands,CEO salary,Customer last mentality.Hold your line!
The world is turning on this - very slowly - the more ludicrous AI run companies get the more people want to talk to a real person with Honesty, integrity, and self built experiential knowledge. AI has none of this so companies like Edison who trade with these values and structure will continue to gain ground because in the end - and i do this all the time - I will go to and stick with companies that care about their customers FIRST - and i will happily pay a bit more to do that - its not about the money - its about communication and experience, which in the end, will save you time and money. THATS a FACT
@@SandcastleAndy Quite, you might remember a few years back when "help" numbers for businesses had complicated, convoluted, options you had to select that never quite met what you wanted to know? Many companies droipped them because people would take the "don't know" options and hav to be dealt with personally - the ones that didn't end up dropping that company's services, of course. As an aside, even as an older man, I'll often grab some "fast food" from McD's, Wendy's, etc, and it's always amusing when people ahead of me will walk in then use the ordering app's to the side, allowing me to just walk to the pointer, order and pay, and even often getting my "meal", before they're finished with their orders...
This video just pulled more investors to your cause. I predict that Edison Motors will be one of those names where people say “An Edison truck is the last truck you’ll ever buy”

Excellent guys, this is what I love to see. I hope you can find a way to ensure these goals will not change even after you step down as company lead eventually. Also, I reiterate, I love to see you showing how the big investors operate behind the scenes, the the things we don't get to see. I would love a dedicated video on that topic.
That's all very nice to hear. I believe your first couple of core beliefs will make your truck worth at least 20% more eventually. I hope you're able to stick to them. The larger shareholders have a way of pushing their own agendas after they get in. If you keep 50%+1, it can stay your game. Otherwise, you might have to have a second class of shares to push your vision long term. I'm wishing you much success.
Love it. That's why I am waiting patiently on the pickup conversion. I want something to last and not be where I have to replace it before it has paid for itself.
Yes, keep your back straight ! With these foundations, you're basically introducing the Rhineland Economical Model in an Anglo-Saxon Economy, which is like rowing up stream a mountain river; Respect to you, for having these principles and living according to those principles !
I can't even imagine the short sightedness it would take to say "don't show your customers the places where the prototype failed and you intend to improve" like how many people saw how you didn't have that lip under the door and said to themselves "that's gonna be a problem" and if you hadn't mentioned it wouldn't have trusted you because they saw an obvious to them problem.

Regarding the enviromentally friendly philosophy, I would point out to folks that may have missed, or forgotten, is that they're using Diesel charging plants because that makes sense for them, now. There are other options - convert the diesels for vegetable oil for some markets, convert them to spark ignition and run them on alcohol (may be compression limited) or CNG/LPG. There are some small, efficient gas turbine generators in development which may, in time, be viable. PLUS, there is the option to fully electric, with additional battery packs replacing the engine-generator unit, for those who prefer to use their own, or public, charging stations. I would also be interested in how deeply EDISON will go in assisting the repair of their trucks when they're damaged in, say, a low speed roll-over on soft ground, that's basically a new cab and wíng [fender for you chaps, I think], maybe rack frame? There are a lot of vehicles written off that 'should' have been repairable in an affordable manner? Maybe a relatively minor crash that's bent the chassis rails - EDISON uses a bolt-together chassis structure, and if the client can just buy the chassis parts he needs, it's a relatively easy swap over of parts, rather than writing an otherwise perfectly good truck off. [editted for typo's]
I agree on all points. :) If I know Chace, like I think I do, then the trucks are like his kids. They get names and are expected to live long productive lives. And if an Edison truck ends up upside down, then I hope Edison drags it back to the shop and gives it the attention it needs to get back on its feet again. Reduce, re-use, recycle, recover, reclaim, restore, reprocess, redeem, regenerate, recondition.
VERRY GOOD I wish I could invest with you. I have for years sad that what you are doing is the way to go. I am 75 and have been bilding and fixing things my entire lifetime . I even converted my recombinant trick to electric assist and built my own 30 ahp. battery. I would love to convert my 2007 Duramax after it gets 500000 miles on it 320000 right now. Any way I love what your doing dont ever give up.
Its a shame, how a simple person from germany cant drop some coins to support. Canada says "you are not allowed to". More power to Edison Motors!!! Even the canadian government is agains you on this one, or at least it seems that way.
You should own every thing that you have including the way it was made thank you. It used to be this way in America until about nineteen seventy ish. Early. Been going downhill since. lol.
Good for you guys! Stand for what you believe in and if others don't like it that's fine, they can go elsewhere. On the lifespan of the trucks tho, while 15 years sounds like a lot to most people nowadays that's not hardly anything. If Carl's lifespan was 15 years it would have been scrapped in what? The late 1970s? The bones of a truck should be built to last 50+ years. Shure in maybe 10 years the electronics and e-axles I'm sure will be well due for an upgrade with how fast everything is changing. But like with how your offering a retrofit for pickups it would be nice if things were planned into the trucks for periodic upgrades as technology improves. I'm sure that is more complex than it sounds, involving factors I haven't considered. But the way your trucks are built they should be good for several million miles and it would be cool to see one of your trucks last like carl has. All that being said tho keep up the good work and we're all very excited to see where the future takes Edison!
Thing that might be the biggest killer of the trucks is rust - but I expect they're well experienced in taking care of that. They also are going to be MUCH easier to repair, if ever needed, with the bolt, rather than rivet, frame/chassis construction! With the rest, because of the modular design, it should be relatively easy to upgrade a generation or two, but I would expect significant upgrades may require rather more work - kinda like upgrading a personal computer, while there are some big generational jumps that require multiple upgrades, there are also significant incremental upgrades that may require only a single component to be replaced.
I like your content, truck driver by trade, while Im not into electric stuff what you are doing is pretty awome. But I also drive classic vehicles by choice for the exact reason, right to repair and built to last, it's pretty awsome you are building a product designed to last unlike the other junk build now! I would personally enjoy seeing a video about your fuel economy roughly of your trucks vs a regular pre emissions semi getting 5-8mpg. Mostly the upfront cost is higher but what kind of fuel economy savings would a buyer see to pay for the extra truck in fuel savings over time.
Fuel economy could be fantastic for Edison heavy duty logging trucks that go up the mountain empty , and then fill up with 100,000 lbs of trees, and use electric regen on the way down to refill the batteries. In this situation, an Edison truck might NEVER turn in its engine, or plug in over night. It just moves for free. Giant electric mining trucks already do this. The next best situation is city less than load LTL stop/go dreyage last mile around town. In this case, every time you accelerate the battery does the work and the engine idles. And everytime you stop, instead of making heat in the brakes, or making noise with the jake brakes, it puts energy back into the batteries. Edison is hoping to see a 30% improved fuel economy. Furthermore, filling up the batteries overnight is about 4 times cheaper than filling up the tank and running the diesel engine. So if you fill up at night, and drive a portion of the day on batteries, then there is savings there. Fuel economy for long haul, over the road, OTR, long distance, highway, high speed driving with no stops/starts, then the Edison system probably wont show fuel improvements, but it should show full torque at zero RPM and higher horsepower.
@Sah-o5m thank you sir, I am from Ontario so relatively flat compaired to your mountains, so we are more OTR style or short haul but you could be loaded eather way not the free coast down hill like you said, that would make alot of sence in your senerio. Eather way you are making something really cool and in a market no one else could ever touch, no tesla semi is going logging period. Keep up the good work!
@@off_grid_life You should still see significant fuel savings, as a convential diesel truck isn't that efficient at part throttle running - they tend to have a "sweet spot" aroung maximum torque and load. Remember, a LOT of the energy in the fuel goes right out the exhaust and into the cooling sytem as waste energy. With the diesel generator, it can be run permanently, when used, in it's "sweet spot" - this means much better fuel efficiency while topping up the batteries, and drastically reduced running time. Trick is to get the balance right - if the truck, as it's run, NEEDS 200 hp at loaded cruising, and the genny only produces 150hp (electrical power), it's a net loss for the battery - but if the generator is good for 400 hp (electrical generation) it will runn approximately half the time, and at peak efficiency.
@@gordowg1wg145 thank you, yes that part I totally understand and efficienty part. I was just curious what kinda of milage they would expect to see in a real world application, obviously going up a mountain empty and coming down loaded is an ideal situation that very few but the bc loggers experience. I would be curious what they see for milage in say between OTR truck to local delivery trucks. The thing 90% of potential buyers would actualy use their truck for. And how long of a pay back period it would take for fuel savings to pay the extra 25% roughly cost of a truck. Especially what OTR guys can burn close to 1000L in a day of driving but even local delivery can burn a couple hundred Litres depending what you do.
@@off_grid_life Ah, yes, and there are other aspects that may be overlooked - engines left idling for hours because for a few minutes they may need to run hydraulics - with electric pumps, they just use the power when it's actually needed, even engines idling at stop lights chews up a LOT of fuel over a week, etc. The more one looks into the potential, especially if re-powering a truck that was especially built for a purpose that is still perfectly sounbd, but had an engine failure, there's potential to save some very big numbers where the bottom line is generated. Plus, being Scottish, I always remember that a penny saved is better than a penny earned, because you're not paying tax on it 😉
Europe has just approved JCB's hydrogen ICE engine for use and sale commercially I would LOVE to see Edison use one of those one these as an alternative to the diesel power plants on their generators. (JCB's hydrogen engine is power and torque equivalent to their diesel engines
Chace, you guys already sold me with right to repair and making the trucks last. Now to figure out how to invest being a regular schmuck and not a multi-millionaire...frickin US laws.
Right? I can afford $1000 to buy shares in a company I believe in. Let me do it! This is all tied to the shady companies that stole people's money in the 1920's and the reason for the crash. Now, it's all about keeping the "little guy" down, so the multi-millionaires can get all the benefits.
"It doesn't look good, it doesn't drive confidence" CLASSIC white collar boardroom PR opinion. Zero negativity allowed What could possibly drive more confidence in a startup than showing your customers that not only are you aware of any issues, but you are actively investigating for more and FIXING THEM as they come up? It's a frigging prototype!! Who submits the very first draft of the paper/report/anything? I wouldn't buy your product if the production line was spitting out the exact same thing as the first R&D product
“Don’t show the bad things, it doesn’t show confidence” That is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. Company’s who hide their mistakes and problems are shady. We all have issues we’re working through
But “line must always go up” and showing setbacks and mistakes makes line not go up. It’s all about maximizing the stock price over the product and customer
I doubt Edison will be able to finance. Each retrofit is unique so pricing varies. The minimum kit will be 10s of thousands for parts. Then more for labor.
3:20, i dont understand how NOT telling your future customers the problems, and how youre fixing them drives the confidence. If a company is telling me "this is what is wrong with our prototype, and this is how were fixing it" im gonna believe them when they tell me about the reliability and much more. The investors got it all wrong man
I have been following your company for years and I really want to invest/buy stocks in your company. But I read your pre qualifie terms and I don't meet the yearly income requirements. I have a few grand, I would love to be small crumb in the big piece of your pie of your company. Will still following and chear on your company but just disappointed I don't have that option
good for you - as well as owning "a F*ck ton of power - your views on auto industry is worldwide - I was told today they want to charge me $70 for an air filter for a chevy spark FFS - holy crap
I agree. If an investor wants a quick return on money, then invest in Apple where they make an iPhone for $13 and sell it for $700. If you want to make the world a better place for our kids, then invest in Edison.
People ask why you show what's wrong with your trucks... First off it's honest! Second off it puts the problem out there... Who knows you might get a nobody like me... Posting a possible solution to the problem. I understand most of you rich riches out there lie to always get what you want... And I understand something as simple as truth and honesty goes along way! And what goes even further... Doing stuff just to benefit the human race. Sometimes its building a multi billion dollar space program... Often times it's just providing simple ideas to problems that are not even yours. I think most information should be freely shared... Especially when it benefits the mass majority.
those investors who think showing flaws doesn't boost confidence are WRONG and SLIMY! there is no such thing as a perfect product, especially during prototyping. if someone trys to tell me there are no downsides to their product or service I'm not trusting them!
@3:39 the trucks you are running so far have no exhaust aftertreatment system on them so they are fundamentally 'dirtier' for the environment than a modern pure ICE truck with latest generation of aftertreatment system.
True* The prototype Topsy doesn't need to meet standards and doesn't need to. The Scania engines going into the 5 production trucks will meet tier 4 standards. They have an alternative to DPF, but I think they still use DEF.

I believe Rich wants the black dodge ram and the white toyota mine truck running/testing by june/july.
Right to repair needs to happen in cars to
Hell yeah brother, cheers from NS
So Wise , Thank You
Good for you guys!
@gordowg1wg145 that's a good point I forget how bad the salt is. Thankfully where I live that's not a issue and rigs can last for many decades.
California Air Resources Board wants Electric Tractors.
The environmental bit I couldn’t give a crap about but all the rest of it is good.

You should still see significant fuel savings, as a convential diesel truck isn't that efficient at part throttle running - they tend to have a "sweet spot" aroung maximum torque and load.

Ah, yes, and there are other aspects that may be overlooked - engines left idling for hours because for a few minutes they may need to run hydraulics - with electric pumps, they just use the power when it's actually needed, even engines idling at stop lights chews up a LOT of fuel over a week, etc.
The more one looks into the potential, especially if re-powering a truck that was especially built for a purpose that is still perfectly sounbd, but had an engine failure, there's potential to save some very big numbers where the bottom line is generated.
Plus, being Scottish, I always remember that a penny saved is better than a penny earned, because you're not paying tax on it 😉
This is what it takes to save the world when venture capitalists want to destroy it all.
We need way more businesses like this in order to start fixing things again
I agree with everything you are saying and believe in
Europe has just approved JCB's hydrogen ICE engine for use and sale commercially I would LOVE to see Edison use one of those one these as an alternative to the diesel power plants on their generators. (JCB's hydrogen engine is power and torque equivalent to their diesel engines
I think a variety of different ICE engines like this will make their way into Edison trucks in the future.
I'm feeling REALLY good about my 90 shares.
I would like to do the same kind of thing but with a mini skid steer.
"It doesn't look good, it doesn't drive confidence"
CLASSIC white collar boardroom PR opinion. Zero negativity allowed
What could possibly drive more confidence in a startup than showing your customers that not only are you aware of any issues, but you are actively investigating for more and FIXING THEM as they come up? It's a frigging prototype!!
Who submits the very first draft of the paper/report/anything? I wouldn't buy your product if the production line was spitting out the exact same thing as the first R&D product
“Don’t show the bad things, it doesn’t show confidence”
That is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. Company’s who hide their mistakes and problems are shady. We all have issues we’re working through
But “line must always go up” and showing setbacks and mistakes makes line not go up.
It’s all about maximizing the stock price over the product and customer
@ don’t change good sir. You’ll be hated by corporations but loved by the ones who actually matter
You should try making a deal with Alaska Marine lines
I may have missed it, but what is the cost for a pickup? Will there be a finance company involved
I doubt Edison will be able to finance. Each retrofit is unique so pricing varies. The minimum kit will be 10s of thousands for parts. Then more for labor.
Fantastic. Will you be breaking into the over the road market or strictly vocational truck only?
He touched on this topic in a previous video. He is doing strictly vocational for now. No plan as for now for road market
@Biohazarus Thank you. I must have missed that video. I've only been subscribed for a week.
3:20, i dont understand how NOT telling your future customers the problems, and how youre fixing them drives the confidence. If a company is telling me "this is what is wrong with our prototype, and this is how were fixing it" im gonna believe them when they tell me about the reliability and much more. The investors got it all wrong man
I still, even after hearing this, would still invest if I had money.
I’d invest every cent I have if I could.
Luv it...It infinity and beyond
Hi, i would like to invest in your company. But i am out of europe. When will i ve able to get a share? Thanks
Is it possible to be an investor and an employee?
Visit the website for investing. As for employee-ing, I think there is a line :)
Wish I had millions to invest.
You're so Canadian, build stuff to last, make it fixable, don't bs the customer because they're probably one of your neighbors.
They could buy an Edison Truck ... and they could 'Upgrade' an Edison Truck down the line possibly
It would be cool if you use a hydrogen or propane generator as options on the trucks just a thought.
What do you think about the us ban of tiktok (not really a full ban)?
good for you - as well as owning "a F*ck ton of power - your views on auto industry is worldwide - I was told today they want to charge me $70 for an air filter for a chevy spark FFS - holy crap
Has Edison got a legual binding constitution upon the company?
Hmm. Company legal binding constitution? I was today years old when I learned about this. Hmm. Interesting.
Can you make a Transformers version of Topsy
Take my life savings…. Here you go. 😅
have you shown your truck to the department of national defense? we could use canadian made products instead of foreign one.
so sad i wanted to invest but i guess no more little guys. found out about edison to late i guess
AMEN!!! to every item. Baptize me and tell me where to start paying my tithing.
Lol. :) wrong forum ;) go see your Bishop ;)
Chace for Governor-General (when Mary Simon decides to quit)
Invested coz Edison ethos. Not for money. I'd rather loose money than this core ethos.
I just don't have the 1million in assets
I have 1 million doll - hairs
Hi Chase why are your HR department not replying in LinkedIn?
@3:39 the trucks you are running so far have no exhaust aftertreatment system on them so they are fundamentally 'dirtier' for the environment than a modern pure ICE truck with latest generation of aftertreatment system.
True* The prototype Topsy doesn't need to meet standards and doesn't need to.
The Scania engines going into the 5 production trucks will meet tier 4 standards. They have an alternative to DPF, but I think they still use DEF.
Seems to me less time on social media and more time building trucks would be a good move.
Nah. Lack of funding is holding Edison up, not too much time producing social. It's only through social media that Edison has made contacts and raised money and gotten this far. Its quite savvy.
@@Sah-o5m Well I agree social media is an effective way to promote their business and raise money but at some point you have to just get on with it.
