In the original manga, Zoro actually killed the wild dog Helmeppo was walking.
You guys should start doing 2-3 episodes per reaction that's the best way to go about this series. But yea Helmeppo is just living off his father's power and his father's an power hungry asshole that's all.
The first 53 episodes is like a prologue to the series, it’s called East Blue Saga. After you reach 53, next would be nice to see 55 and 61 as they explain a little more about the next Saga which starts from 62 till 130.

I love Monster Trio (Luffy, Zoro, Sanji) the most. There is some animosity between Zoro and Sanji fans, but I love both characters. And I grew fond of Luffy more than any other anime protagonist, although I didn't like him so much at the beginning of the story.
Apart from the Strawhats, I adore Trafalgar Law - he is generally really liked among the fans and there is a good reason for it. There was a time when he was even more popular than Zoro among Japanase fans who once voted him to be their second favourite character (now he is ranked lower, but he is always in the top 5). His debut is just before 400 episode, so you are going to meet him next year.
And there are a lot of amazing characters that only appear in a smaller number of episodes - Koby, Smoker, Corazon, Mihawk, Mr 2, Bartolomeo - and more and more. One Piece has so unique characters designs that you remember them and easily recognize the characters that you haven't seen for a few hundreds episodes.

The pirate hunters hunt pirates with bounties and give them to the navy, so there's no reason to recruit a pirate hunter, specifically because pirate hunters are just after the money. Zoro was arrested because he punched helmeppo, it didn't matter who he was.

Appreciate that you guys are watching one piece despite it being more than 1000+ episodes. The few episodes are not that great but things starts to catch after episode 20. I assure you that you guys are in for a wild ride.
For the devil fruits, they're rare in the weaker seas. In the stronger seas though, far more common.

Love how you're like 'wait, but aren't the navy supposed to be the good guys?' Yeah, One Piece will show you more and more of that kind of stuff. The people that should be there to protect (navy, government, etc), aren't always the good guys you hoped they would be (some are though). I love that about One Piece. There are good and bad guys in all places, it isn't so black and white that the pirates are bad and the navy is good, there is nuance and corruption, and kind hearted and evil people in both places.
Also, I loved your theory about how Luffy ate the devil fruit 🤭
To help understand one thing, note this: The marines are a GLOBAL organization. And the sea that Luffy is in? Weakest. With such a huge organization, the simplicity of corruption slipping in is ridiculous.

The Navy is a very large organization, with both heroic and corrupt individuals. But the one constant is that they're all enemies of pirates.

There are going to be some more boring (IMHO) episodes before you, but I advise you to continue watching at least to 40. episode - there is one of the most epic moments of OP in one of the preceding episodes and that's the time when people realize that they utterly love OP or that the show isn't for them.

Is Luffy smart or dumb? IMO he is more like carefree and I don't give a damn type person, he always speaks his mind no matter what the situation is, and it won't be right to call him only dumb either cuz he is a battle genius and he knows and understands people more than anyone. So it's like he is smart when he wants to be and other times he just enjoys life.
And Zoro is the ultimate badass, he is my sec most fav ckt.

@@rahl163 he can't be only dumb, being creative doesn't make him knock sense into vivi, momo and Udon prisoners. He knows how to go through people's minds and for that he needs to understand the situation which he does, probably more than anyone. it's just he doesn't give an f about complicated things and things that don't involve him, that's why I called him carefree.

it will take you more than 4 years to finish One Piece at this pace, just saying. The best One Piece Reactor Ive seen does 3 episodes per video and he made it to episode 700 in 2 years, so I would recommend you to do the same if you want to keep your audience. One Piece isnt like the stuff you normally watch, it needs the viewer to adapt but the payoff is bigger than the brain can comprehend and thats coming from someone who generally dosnt like anime.
