Hello, as this is your latest video at the moment, I will comment on this one.
I am not a sim racer. I don’t own a sim, I will probably never own a sim nor be a sim racer. Yet here I am.
I stumbled upon your channel after watching the F1 sprint qualifier in Austin. Since that time I binge watched your channel from old to new videos. Hence I am here and wanting to leave a word.
You tell your story on your channel to the world. Not just to people who are interested in sim racing. You connect old (look at the mitter saw) and new (wow a 3D printer). The nostalgia of your “previous” life with your new set goals ik this modern era.
I listen when you talk. You have that radio voice, (so pirating a radio station wasn’t such a weird idea back in the day) and clear articulation for everyone to enjoy.
I understand that being in front of the camera is something anxious. It is your channel and your time you have put into it. Let me tell you that as a viewer I can see how much time you have put in preparation, execution and editing these videos and it is much much appreciated.
I see you are a perfectionist (OCD as you call it yourself) in life and in what you have put online so far. Don’t lose yourself in the smallest detail (or you might need that lose button in your cockpit after all) and keep enjoying the process of sharing every bit of knowledge you own.
That is why I subbed your channel.

My little channel connecting with people outside of my niche isn't something i thought of.
i am also glad you see the detail and time i put into my content. i can happily report what you see isn't OCD driven. Well, for the most part.
Being trapped in the thought process and spending a lot of time is but, my flavor of OCD is different than being orderly or sweating details to battle anxiety. i am actually a little messy. lol
With anything i work on, I always just try to do a good job like my Father taught me. I try not to think too much about the creative side of the channel. If I have an idea and it feels good or makes me laugh i tend to do it. in the end I think this little project is a great mix of everything i have done over the years and I am quite pleased with how it's turning out. I mean... Even my wife likes it and watches everything so it can't stink too bad!
Being that you aren't part of this niche, my content is a little different than the norm but, it's not really by design. it just kind of grew into what it is. I wasn't sure how it would be received but I always believe if you produce something as well as your abilities allow and it is genuine in creation, it will attract the right audience. As time passes it will be interesting to see how it evolves. I still have plenty of ideas to explore and i am so glad you found me.
Dealing with mental issues causes a lot of self doubt and questing one self. Your words are greatly inspiring to me as well as showing me I am on a good path.

Thank you so much for this video! I knew the angle would be too tight but all I had at the time was the template in the bezel free kit and eyeballing it. After spending quite some time lining up my monitors and found the angle too tight, I was too lazy and excited to get on the sim and never fixed it for quite some time. Your video explains it perfectly and now that I'm doing "renovations" on my rig, I got it just right much faster and the angle is perfect!
If people watching have a 3D printer, I recommend printing an angle finder. It works great for this video and also works for other things you might need it for. Its also nice to see the angle I had and doing fine tunning adjustments is much easier knowing I have to move + or - a degree.
Awesome. I did end up offering triangle STL files for people who want to lock it at 60 or 65. Thanks for watching.

I have been trying to get mine setup over the past few days using the Sim-lab standalone mount with the zero-play pivots and the Vario vesa mounts. My monitors are the AOC 32" 1500R curved and they have very thin bezels so I think we may have the same or very similar screens. I'm hoping this video will finally get me on the right path!

@@sense-of-speed Yeah they've been a life saver as far as getting the monitors level. The arms sag a bit on my stand due to me not tightening them down before I had the monitors on them. My eyes are approximately 25" from the center screen and I currently have them at 65 degrees.
@DSaw78 good stuff. 25 to 25.5 inches is the best eye distance for 32's through my testing.
@@sense-of-speed trickiest part is setting the in-game angle of the side monitors in the sims and trying to get them looking perfect. Almost impossible lol.

Hey Sense of Speed, thanks so much for this. Quick question on your opinion. I have 1 57” G9 Ultra Wide, and 2 G8 32” side screens. SO equivalent of 15360x2160. Curious how you think that would impact the sweet spot for the angle for best FOV. I am not hugely concerned with bezel free as the 57” has such a wide FOV that the bezels really are less impactful to the view. Any thoughts would be appreciated, and if there is a correct measurement for Bezel free, thats a plus!

would like to know as well.. im undecided between flat or 1000R cuved monitors..
I guess the bezel free kit would work better on flat screens, but it's nice to have a little bit of a curve as well.. idk

@@pawieplays I actually returned my 1000R curve Samsung G5s now. And I got Asus 1500R screens instead.
It's soooo much easier to use with the Bezel free kit. WIth the 1000R monitors, I had to have them at insane angles, which made me feel uncomfortalbe and the vision unnatural. The 1500R curved ones I have now, are totally fine though!
I'd recommend 1500R or flat ones if you want to use Bezel free kit.

Great video. A little tip to people Who are running wider angle and have the problem you mentioned 2:40 (bezel free kit dont hide the bezel)
You may be able to sandpaper the edges of the bezel on the monitor... just a Lil bit to get an angle so you can get the screens closer to each other
Thanks. I did file the edges for a tight fit, but 6mm bezels are a touch too big.

It depends on the bezel width and your radius. Most people have to experiment but I haven't used them myself.

Very good tutorial, exactly what I need, but I have a 31.5-inch monitor on a Samsung R1000. What should the angle be? 1500R is at 65°. Is this angle suitable for a 1000R monitor?
Thank you. I think 65 would be a good stating point and you may wat to give it a try. The main idea is setting the angle of the monitors at a more natural angle than the tool supplied with the kit provides. it should provide good results regardless of radius.
Great channel and once again great information. What did you use to create those diagrams showing the various angles with the monitors on? I’m trying to work out how much room a triple 42” setup would require and what angles I’d need to run them at.

Where do we measure the angle from ? The aluminum extrusion arm bar or the monitor mount and monitor angle itself ?
I am new to all this so my rig Trak Racer T80 with Triple monitor add on arms + triple 32" Tuf 1440p 1500 radius monitors.
So I am sitting 28" away and what angle should my monitors be?
I am going to move monitors 4 or 5 inches closer to the DD base/wheel so say 23 1/2 inches to 24 inches away from the center monitors.
What should my angle be for side monitors.
32" screen 0.16mm bezel monitors Asus VG32VQ1B. HELP
Ideal eye distance based on our vision and minimum natural depth perception is 630 to 650 mm. Personally, I like 635 or 25 inches. At that eye distance, 65 degrees at the monitor arm like mine works very well. Especially in Iracing.
@sense-of-speed I have my triple monitors integrated into the rig all as one so at the moment I am at 55° and it kinda hard to go much further angle wise.
I have a Trak Racer T80 w/ integrated monitor, 32" 1500 curved monitors and I sit exactly at 25" away from center monitor, I am vertically sitting right in the middle of the monitors and that is perfect.
My biggest quest is do I measure the angles off the actual connecting monitor arms?
Inside triple monitor arms or the back side of the rig? Both should give the same result I assume.
Or do I basicly angle the monitors that 60° or what ever the mathematically correct number is?
I know this is a lot but ATM it dosen't feel correct especially the right monitor.
I find myself driving off my Center monitor in my left peripheral naturally but I have to break focus to notice the right monitor.
I have scrapped more walls with the Triples than I have prior with just a single monitor.
@@sense-of-speedinitially when I upgraded to 3 32" triples I made sure all 3 monitors were exactly 25" away from my eyes.
So basicly at the center of all 3 monitors they were positioned exactly 25" from my eyes.
That felt too flat and wide.
I just never considered the reason behind the correct math and a legit FOV.

Geat insight. I have 3x 32inch 1500r gigabyte 165hz monitors that have 9mm bezels. I found i had to keep increasing the angle to 69 deg before the bezel would disappear. Im 635mm away from the center screen and running 174 FOV or 880 radius setting for iracing and 1205mm between the 2 side monitors at the rear. The other odd thing is it ends up being extremely close to the asus protractor at 130deg. What are your thoughts.
Thanks. That actually makes sense. With the Asus tool on paper works out to 68 degrees when I draw it out in CAD. An extra degree to make up for the 9mm bezel would still make the tool look relatively close.

This is gold information ❤ do you mind helping me to setup the wheel and screen height while doing POV ? Your gopro seems to be on your forehead but it look like its on the chin which looks even better
Thank you. My overall seating position is as close to real life as I can get. When turning the wheel my knuckles are just below my nose at 12 o'clock. My eyes are about 2 inches below center of the screen and 635mm distance. My Gopro is head mounted and I just angle it down to capture the bottom of the wheel. Pretty simple.

I am now in the process of switching from a simple odissey 49 to 3x34 alienware oled screens....and I had no idea of what I was about to walk on 😅 Purchase is made now, and I'll try to mount them tonight...is there any recommendation you'd give for those monitors? I assume the bezel kit is probably not going to help that much?
Bezel sizes are 0.3 and curvature 1800r, so perhaps that will reduce the need of the bezel kit?
Welcome to triples! I like the bezel kit, especially for open wheel. Without it, I recommend 60 degrees and an eye distance of 635. It may take some testing for your best results though.
It may, but that will be up to you if they don't bother you. Mine are wide and bug me. Lol

I have the profile bars at 60 degrees but in the games I have to configure them as if they were 50 degrees... 🤨🤔

Thank you. Yes. You will have to set a different angle in game because the screens are still curved. 50 degrees sounds about right.

I'm struggling with the decision between curved and flat 32 inch monitors. I like the idea of greater immersion, but the distortion on the sides is off-putting for me. I'm currently leaning towards the flat ones.
Over the past 2 years I've gone from regretting curved to liking what I can do in Iracing so I understand your struggle. I won't try to steer you one way or the other but the distortion is very manageable on my end although I would like larger screens and perhaps an 1800 radius.

I also set my three screens (32inch 1500R) to 65 degrees a few days ago. I have a question. When I set the three screens in ACC to a screen angle of 65 degrees, they will feel more retracted. It feels more natural to set it to 60-62 degrees. Is this normal?
It's totally normal. It is because the monitors are curved, and ACC doesn't have curved monitor settings.

Ive been trying to work it out on my own and I've watched your "what I use" video but I still have no clue what steering wheel that is. it looks like an audi r8 gt3 wheel of some kind but the top corners look different to anything on the market

What would you say the angle should be using the BFK on 32in triples at 58cm eye distance? Ive never been able to get them where i felt they were perfect.

I’ve been looking for a bezel free kit but haven’t been able to find them for anything but 27”. Where can I buy a 32” set?
A 32 inch kit isn't available. They do work but need a different method to mount them. Some use adapters that can be found on Etsy to use the supplied brackets. For mine, I cut sticky back Alcantara to stick them to the monitors because the brackets interfered with my dash.

If you can still see the bezel, the only way is to increase the angle until it's not visible. Perhaps 66, 67, or 68

What would be the correct angle for 3x1000R Monitors (3x Samsung odyssey g5)?
It will depend on what your bezel thickness is and you viewing distance. If your bezels are 6mm like mine I would start at 65 degrees. That was the max I can run to hide the bezels. Personally I like to be 25 inches from my monitor and have no issue with my angle at 65.

Depending on eye distance, I think ideal would be 60 degrees if you can still hide the bezels with the kit.

I have flat 32inch monitor(LG 32GP850)
Can you recommend the angle? Asus ROG says they recommend 50(130)degree, but is it really good? I saw many guys using 60 degree.
(I will install bezel free kit, but its from racebear, which can install up to 55inches)
For sim racing, I suggest 60 degrees for flat monitors.

@pkbum-nj3ec it shouldn't cause a problem. 60 would hide them better than 50 if they are really big. I also say 60 because It is better for fov.
Where can I find the STL file for the triangle?
I drew it in Fusion 360 really quick. I'd have to look to see if I still have it.

That was for 1500 at 1000, you may have to go closer to 60 due to the tightness of the curve.

@@BigfoxN-A-chiccenhouse it's less immersive than you'd think. The bezel really breaks that 4th wall no matter how flat/curved your screen is. You can 100% play without these.. but with them, you do achieve 'extra' realism
