    Good video. I agree it’s a very capable budget piece. Glad you mentioned oiling the slide and barrel. That finish will rust if you look at it sideways.

    I bought one about two weeks ago just out of curiosity and because it was a good price, I bought it and it has been my EDC since then, it is very light, I put it in my pocket and I forget that I am carrying it, incredibly happy with my purchase.

    I’ve bought mine new in May 2019 for $329.99 and yes I overpaid but that was the going rate at the time. And it is by far the pistol I carry most often, in a DeSantis N38 V5 pocket holster.
    The first thing I did was order a spare 7 round mag. The 2nd thing I did was remove the mag disconnect plate (the shiny one that sits just above the trigger and has a small spring that comes out with it). Don’t throw these away because you will need to reinstall if you ever have to send the gun back to Ruger for repairs, or if you ever sell the gun.
    Anyway, with the mag disconnect removed, this became my favorite pocket pistol. This is my backup to my Security-9 Compact, loaded with the same ammo. But half the time I leave the Security-9 at home and only take the EC9s. There is also a aftermarket trigger for the EC9s that reduces the 5 lbs trigger pull to 3 lbs. It’s not just a spring kit but a whole new trigger. I’ve left mine stock but may upgrade at some point.
    I agree with you 100% about the rust issue. I rub the outside of the slide with clean 30 weight motor oil and wipe it down with an oil cloth. I do this monthly because it had a tiny spec of rust right out of the box when I bought it. As far as functionality, I’ve never had a problem. But I will say this gun likes some ammo better than others. With FMJ it doesn’t matter which brand or grain you choose, it will eat them all. But when it comes to hollow points, you may want to run 50 rounds thru it just to make sure it’s gonna feed alright before you trust your life to it.
    And that leads me to a final point, reliability. The EC9s is as reliable as any Ruger semiautomatic. Ruger might have cut corners with the fixed sights and mediocre finish and only giving you 1 mag, but the reliability is solid.

      Hey no sweat bro I bought a Canik TP9 Elite SC for 550.00 I believe in February of 2020 😂😂😂😂😂😂. Those were bad times don't feel bad 😂😂😂. I love everything you said. Especially at the end. These are acceptable corners to cut in my opinion. I would rather have a reliable firearm with lackluster features, than a feature-rich firearm that can't function worth a damn. The fixed sights do not bother me. It's a 3 yd and then firearm. Would it be cool if it came with some more capable sites? Absolutely it is an iwb 9mm after all. But at the end of the day, they get the job done. Especially if you paint the front sight. I've thought about replacing the trigger but it's already pretty darn decent. And when it comes to my concealed carry firearms I really do try to not mess with the internals if it's not necessary. The only trigger I ever replaced was on my glock 42. I can make a whole video and probably should make a whole video about the Glock 42 and why I hate it 😂😂😂 it's one of the poorest performers I've ever had not just from Glock. In fact it's the only Glock I've ever had that sucked 😂 I know that I've had some pretty rare bad experiences with firearms my Colt King Cobra being no exception. But the only reason I replaced the trigger on the Glock 42 was because it broke, so in my eyes I had a viable excuse "legally speaking" 😆. The extractor also blew out in the first box of ammo the first day I got it 😂 not only that I got ripped off on that gun. It was sold to me as new and it certainly looked like it could have been but when I got it home and I took out the foam and the manuals and the lock there was a receipt at the bottom of the box with someone else's name in a date on it from about 6 months ago 😂 they sold me a used Glock 42 for 440.00 😡

    I have the EC9s, ran great for the last 3 years then all of a sudden it started having issues. Ruger sent me a new slide lock and replaced my old mags and it's running great again! The old slide lock had a tiny bit of rust underneath it. That's my fault, it was carried a lot during the summer and I never took the frame apart for cleaning. I plan on upgrading it at some point soon but it's not bad at all. Carried mine the last couple days.

    Excellent video! I have literally owned all the popular micro compact pistols (except the ruger max 9 and the fn reflex). Ended up having to sell them, long story. I was just so deep in the rabbithole of trading and selling lol. So anyway, i'm picking up the ec9s next week, as my new edc. Had one years ago, loved it.

    I recently bought one. Got a good deal on a former rental at a local shop/range. It seems to be a solid, no-frills carry gun. I've put a few hundred rounds through it so far, with no glitches.

    • @brokeboytactical4397
      @brokeboytactical4397  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Very nice! Yeah you can find crazy deals on these. That's why I thought it was still a very relevant gun to make a video on. We are talking Hi-Point prices here. I don't think I've put nearly that many through this particular one. Probably somewhere in the realm of 150-200. Again like you no problems. None of my pins are walking out, no failures to feed or eject, the magazine stays put and it's relatively accurate it's self-defense distances. If you ask me, I think everybody should buy one of these for the hell of it like I did. It's really at a "why the hell not?" price.

    EC9S is one of the guns I just stop in at academy and buy if I forgot my carry gat. So affordable! Only gun I would get if I was hard up on cash and had forgotten my carry it would be a hi point c9 for under a hundo. With that said I did score an EC9S for 90 bucks today! And got some banger tacos!!!! Same gun store!

    Good video, There is a lot to be said for a reliable budget gun. We all have to lock our guns up in our cars from time to time because you just can't carry in some places. Even in a good hidden lockbox guns do get stolen. I've been carrying for over 40 years and have been lucky but I also drive boring cars nobody would steal or break into. My solution to reloading under pressure, and with arthritis, is a second gun. For me that means two j-frame .38 special Airweights, one in each pocket, but I would consider two LC9Ss. Or 1 j-frame and 1 LC9S or two LCP Maxs. Heck, If I knew I was headed to a gunfight I'd bring a Glock 17 and a 12 gauge (or a platoon of marines) but the reality is a 7+1 EC9S is enough gun for 99.99% of conflicts we will ever encounter.

    • @brokeboytactical4397
      @brokeboytactical4397  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Good old-fashioned New York reload is definitely efficient. If you can carry them I don't see the harm and carrying too firearms. I find it hard enough to commit to one 😂😂😂. I'm an honest carrier I wish I could say I was Mister tactical all the time 😂😂😂. But you're absolutely right A j frame or an ec9s like this is going to be plenty sufficient for 99.99% of self-defense scenarios that an average civilian would find themselves in. Sounds like a good Carry bro and I appreciate your input

    • @johnelder4273
      @johnelder4273 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Carrying two Airweights is easier than you think. When they first came out I carried two LCPs that was really easy. I may go to two LCP Max's or EC9Ss at some point. I'm a big old guy so I have big pockets. Stay safe.

      It's called CYA. I'm not really sure about the company or the country of origin. But I do know that it is of equal quality of a We the people holster if not maybe a little better but about half the price. It's not a bad budget holster. I wish it didn't have foamy clip but for 32 bucks I seriously can't complain. It's an adequate holster. Thank you for watching bro I really appreciate it

    LC9 - LC9s since 2013. Doesn't jam, accurate, easy to conceal and with Hi-Viz sights my older eyes can pick them up quick... it's the Toyota Camry of the EDC world and I don't see myself getting anything else anytime soon.

    My gunsmith turned me on to this gun, I picked mine up for just over $200 and love this gun to death. Great trigger, great shooter and descent capacity especially with the extended mag. Mag Shack has the OEM 9 rnd mag for $31.99. If properly cleaned and lubed this gun will last forever. Great gun for a steal of a price. Thanks for sharing.

    Got mine after it was shot one time by the original owner. Paid $80 for it. It's exactly what he's stating. It's not a SIG, not a Glock, your options are limited for mods (a handful of lasers if you're about that, a few trigger swaps. There may be more. Idk. I typically carry a Glock or SIG. But this is a great backup. And this opinion is coming from an individual who's got beef with Ruger. The LCP was shit. Bnib the while slide broke free and went downrange on its second magazine. Since the I swore off Ruger. But this ec9s is an OK standby, or loaner. I personally hate the sights, but with its size, it's designed for instinctive draw and pew in CQ. I like my Glock better. And my SIG more than either of the latter

      That's actually really good to hear. I've dealt with them twice in both times they forgot about me like a fart in the wind. When they did get in touch with me they were super polite but it was just a very very very long process and when I got my firearm back it wasn't even my firearm it was a completely new model. And a lot of ways I guess that can be okay but I stand by what I said. I'd rather it be repaired. So it's really good to hear that they actually fixed your firearm and got it back to you. I want all firearms companies to succeed. Your door?!... I'm no lawyer but isn't it supposed to go to an FFL?

    Who in the world calls it obsolete garbage? Weird title

    • @brokeboytactical4397
      @brokeboytactical4397  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      We'll think about it. In today's market like I said you're probably going to spend close to $250 or $300 on this gun. You can get into a shield Plus for $340 bucks. Comes with two magazines instead of one, much higher capacity, better build quality, actual sights and a better trigger. With all the great micros under $400 it's going to be really hard to justify choosing this firearm unless you absolutely can't afford anything else. It's a pretty unjustifiable option if you have the spare cash. I do a lot of trading and selling on the secondary market and I'm going to tell you right now that the main reason why it's obsolete garbage is because you're going to have a hell of a time selling a single stack. They don't move anymore. That's the only reason why I titled it that. Because regardless of all those variables for this gun's price it's still hangs in there with the big boys
