Phenomenal playing in all gilmourish type of playing! So inspiring. If it's about Big Muff. First i hated it and Smashing Pumpkins too 😊. Then came my obsession with fuzz pedals, and Green russian reissue, which technically is not a fuzz pedal, but who cares? And now, it's one of my two must haves (Mojomojo is the first one, also very cheap yet amazing). And Smashing Pumpkins are great too 😅
Idk if you tried a Mini Fuzz Face but I’ve been using it for pre Wish You Were Here and it perfectly captures the psychedelia of Pink Floyd, especially with an overdrive and a tape echo (great video btw)
Congratulations for the touch, the sounds produced and the guitar style with which you play. A curiosity, if I may ask: what is the usefulness of the bracelet on the right hand?
Keeps the focus on the tempo and helps apply the right amount of force when he plucks the strings with a rare and expensive hard to find made in Uruguay pick. Hope this helpsl
What other pedals are turned on on the first segment? Just fuzz and delay? If so, what delay pedal, and settings? Thank you, I really dig the tone you captured here
Thanks for your great work here! Sweet tones! Takes a bit of time effort and blood sweat n tears to get the high quality floyd tones if you've not got all the gear, I was wondering of you could offer some advice, I have a boss od-200 pedal it's got fuzz and blues driver brown sound and the centaur clone, great thing about this pedal is the 3band eq and ability to switch from stacked in series or parallel with any of the overdrives and distortions as well as any of those with either high mid or clean boost in series or parallel with whatever drive is selected, gate and decay parameters adjustable too- My query is if you know if a way to manipulate the Fuzz to get what i hear on you vid here, they're some of the closest if not the best I've heard of fellow musicians getting the tones well love on pink Floyd's history if greatest music ever. I'll stand to that, because it's just bloody true! Mucho gracious amigo
I hear you, and thank you for your kind words! I've tried od-200 a couple of times, I think it's a killer pedal if you're looking for a variety of tones for it's price. As a big fan of blues driver, i loved it's blues mode, with 3 band eq you can shape it perfectly! It's got an okay fuzz, I kinda heard an untamed vintage silicon fuzz, much like in live at pompeii 1972 fuzz (of course it sounds a little digital like a software plug-in fuzz). it's dynamics were not the best, and I couldn't get the clean tones I wanted when I lowered the guitar volume. still for a pedal thats 260 bucks, that's pretty good. So, like i've said, i had little experience, but it's actually decent to use the fuzz for 1972-1974 kinda era. I would approach the fuzz with increasing the mids, lowering the bass and treble. and slowly add or take some frequencies, you need to pick your each string and hear them one by one, if you're hearing too much mud, lower the bass and add just a little mid, but don't add a frequency when there is already too much of it. I hope i made myself clear. it's never easy to use fuzz pedals, especially on bedroom level volumes...
@@MustafaCanKaya_ yeah mids up cut the mud and bass boom, presence ctrl on amp helps mix the high n mud after getting close on the pedal, but you're right it's a bit too digital on the Fuzz, but it's a nice tone with the tube screamer going into the centaur in series nice and smoth. Thanks for the advice 🙏
@@MustafaCanKaya_ Yeah, fuzz sounds best at venue volumes defo, with quality compression, Gilmour has it nailed! He has always progressed towards a better tone he's the legend of tone, and Jeff beck. I'll look into the 1972-74 fuzz tones ans see if I can get a decent match, good thing about the catalyst amp is the attenuator switch to half a watt for practice and when attenuated up to 100 watt the tone stays the same depending on the space your in and the competing noise.
Do you only use ACTUAL peddles ever play with Boss Katana? Being more of a learn the katana is very versatile however I stuggle to get really good or replica sounds.. would be nice to have a DG expert like you to guide the way 😉
Honestly, I used the Boss Katana Mini, I still do sometimes, but I haven't tried the bigger versions of it anywhere except the store, which sounded awesome. But with pedals? I don't have any experience. If Boss wants to sponsor me, I'd be glad to try it.
@mustyguitar Might be a worthwhile addition to the patreon. A lot of folks use the katana I have the 50w, for intermediates its a really quick way to switch between effects without a lot of peddles.
I've been trying for days to reach that kind of tone with my big muff Pi but if i crank the sustain there is too noise and i can't succeed in finding a good tone position.. it's Always too scopped or too muddy... Any advice ?
@@mustyguitar hmmm… I was always thinking that this trick Gilmour made with volume knob on his guitar. I mean that switch between clean and distorted sound.
@@Sea_Dove i'm not sure about that trick, can you share it with me? all transistor based overdrives and germanium fuzzes can be used cleaner by lowering the volume knob on guitar but silicon based fuzzes and big muffs in general is going to sound a little muddy when you lower the guitar volume knob. hope i understood you correctly.
@@Sea_Dove Gilmour uses a loop switching system, so one press of a button can change multiple pedals. One button to turn on fuzz and delay and another button to easily access his clean sound 👍🏻
rolling off guitar volume with a pedal like big muff doesn't clean up the sound, it just darkens and muddies it. you can maybe roll of to 9 or maybe 8 for rhythm stuff, but for lead, I always go for 10
I’m using a laney cub 12r in my bedroom because I can scale it to 1w It makes the whole difference because my amp is a fat amp, rather than a mid scooped vox or fender
the big muff looses its sense when you pair with an overdrive with it to sound good, i know David did it himself, but idk, if it sounds bad on its own id rather but another pedal, maybe a rat
@@mustyguitar yeah just thinking on a budget lol but it does sound amazing here, maybe it has to do with the amp, mine is kinda mid scooped on the clean channel and thats a nono for the big muff

Very useful, I've often left my tone knob alone so thanks for explaining what you can achieve by changing it

Excellent demo. fantastic tone and playing!
Whoa that's some sick playing.
Absolute beauty 🙌
Excellent playing in all gilmourish type of playing. Wonder if you could do similar for Santana's tone with a Big Muff.
Man ..its absoluty beatiful this video.. thanks bro keep rocking
Very useful and inspiring as always man. 👍 I bought an Ehx hotwax few weeks back and placed it after the big muff Ram's head... It's a killer
nice!
I’m here for the listen
your work is AMAZING, thank you!
Would it be possible for you to make a video on how to get close to the sound of gilmour when using humbuckers?
rotary was very dominant in the first and harmony solos of dogs. and also the rhythm part of pigs. thought id mention that
Wow!!! Very good job !!! Congratulations!!!! 🤩🤩
The "Big Muff" tone is really really good
That on an island segment was awesome playing!
Fantastic tone from the muffs
You make really good material, great to watch 😁
excellent work my friend!! Many Thanks 👍

wow, smooth tones man, been following your channel quite a while now and you covers awesome but you need to play more live versions xD
thank you! I'm working on it, in the studio, extracting guitar parts and making backing tracks.
Was is rotary.
Very nice playing by the way 👌
Rotary is a cabinet that the speakers inside rotates to create a liquid sound. I use a simulator pedal for it. those cabinets are HUGE and LOUD

I like the sound of a rat pedal before the fuzz, it brightens the tone and gives the notes more clarity.
