- In this video I talk about some of my favourite David Gilmour guitar tones, show the guitars and pedals he used to get them, and suggest some modern day alternatives that should suit a range of budgets.

I had the old video open in a tab and was shocked when I saw it private, glad that it's not deleted :D Thanks for the great work!
No worries mate, had a couple of things I wanted to update. Glad you enjoyed!
I like how you perfectly timed transitions with SOYCD, great work!
In the animal's album era you said no flanger but the flanger is a great deal of the animal's album especially during dogs And the middle section of pigs.
Loved it. Can't get enough of DG and his tones. You put a nice collection together here.
Super helpful video, just wanted to point out that the tc vibraclone has a huge signal suck and I find it really ruins the tone. I’ve started using my phaser and a flanger both set slow and low in the mix to emulate rotary effects. But the is video is fantastic and I really wish I had this a few years ago when I began my Gilmour playing. Thanks 😊
Very nice work! Comprehensive.
Great video man!
Great informative video! Thanks for the options and settings. Subbed and notified. I use a Keeley Dark Side to cover most of these tones.
Amazing info, thank you so much!
Great work, huge thanks
Excellent!...as a classically trained musician (piano), trying to learn a rock song on a e guitar, I am overwhelmed, at trying to decipher all the tones, modulations, distortions to actually reproduce the original sound. great video
Very good job. Big thank you from all David Gilmour fans....
Thanks. Very useful! Keep doing
Wooow! Incredible research! Thanks a Lot!
Great info
Some other ideas for alternative pedals (that I personally personally like to use) -
- JHS Morning Glory for drive/boost
- Keeley Compressor
- Lester G (or smaller K) Leslie simulator
- The Depths V2 Optical Vibe Machine
-Boss DD8 Digital Delay
Very good guide, thank you. I will search if I can emulate a rotary with the pedals I already own. Maybe my tremolo mixed with something else. I was thinking in tremolo plus vibrato, as rotary has both things. I have a chorus where I can let ring just the vibrato sound.
Gear on budget, this one makes a lot of sense. It’s rare.
most helpful video ever! even more than a how to fix your car vid
2 very good and pretty unexpensive clones of the Colorsound Powerboost is the PastFX 18V Power Booster, or the BLAMMO Voltage Booster. I recommend getting them if you want to get that exact Colorsound tone.
YOU FORGOT THE MXR PHASE 90…A SUPER CLASSIC 70 EFFECT EVERYBODY USE AND I CAN ASSURE DAVID HAVE ONE AT THE AGES….LOL😢😢😢😢
Mosky p90 with script and block switch 30$.cheap availability option
Nice video, I've got the hiwatt T40 tube series and the boss rt-20, this should help get closer, does anyone have any input on using a attenuator with a tube combo?
Nice vidéo ! How Can i get the live AT knebworth sorrow / money tone?
Very good. I miss the keeley dark side. What s the reason?
Can you give us a hint of how to get that tone he uses in the intro of TIME on the PULSE concert? Thanks, mate!
Just get a Keeley Dark Side. It does most of Gilmour's tones perfectly.
do you think the mooer black secret pedal can replace boss's blues driver or any of the overdrives used by gilmour? Or does boss's blues driver really give you an advantage
The EMG DG20 loaded pick guard is well worth the price and, I get absolutely zero hum out of them.
i tought this video has 1M views, its literally what everybody is searching for, thanks you
shine on has a delay at 310 ms and a rotary speaker mixed low as well as the phaser, but thats only during the 4 notes part
during most of the solos it is run DI except for the last part of the second solo which I think is the bridge pickup through a hiwatt with a clean boost on the powerbooster, and on the third solo is on the neck pickup with a phaser into a powerboost
and the phase 95 is 100% the best budget option and the best option in general, it has the phase 90, phase 45, AND you can turn on the script mode for each to get the original 74/75 phaser sound, it will sound much closer than the small stone
comfortably numb also has a powerbooster, I'm not sure if he did use it life to boost the muff, but I'm pretty sure he did
also, for fun, on time I add a univibe, it just adds something there, I have it between the fuzz and the boost so to warm it up, but also to have it noticable
also, the past fx powerbooster and elastic matress are pretty good, maybe that would be better for the NON budget version
and I hate to say it, but the pinwheel is bad, and the vibraclone lacks the mix control, the vibraclone would actually be pretty good if it weren't for that
and the pigs solo does just use the muff, it's not overdrive, and has no rotary
Dayum! You really put a lot into it! LOL!
Can you analyze ALex Lifeson sound setting as well?
Demeter Opto Compulator.
You can cheat and use flange and delay on a lot of it. (You didn’t hear it from me though)

You forgot the most important part i.e. the amplifiers used ....
Your idea of budget isn't budget. Cheap good quality clones only cost 20 to 40 £°Mosky audio, eno, hsv, movall, Caline etc make fantastic versatile pedals
