Confidence is the key - but yes, we have to start by taking the courage to begin somewhere.
I am a small time investor but I focus only on local hospitality businesses. I invest time and again whenever I have some extra money. I must say it feels really good to know that your money is working for you whilst also building the local community.

Totally agree with Pearl Lam and Maki about feminism - stop treating women as victims who need extra help and special treatment, just get out of their way and let women do their thing.
I started building my portfolio ten years ago. Of course I have had my ups and downs, and learnt many lessons. But looking back, yes I am much more confident than I was then. It really is about the courage to take the first step.
The amount of incredible things people do. I mean who would have thought of a women led investment group. That’s amazing.
Considering the investment market speaks of terms like bull, it is ofcourse assumed the investment market is for men. Cheers to women like Maaike in challenging the bulls.
The courage to invest. That is really the key. May be start small, and then see how it is working out. You will also need to assess the risk and everything at all. But yes, have to start somewhere.
Angel investing is super high risk. I’d love to know more about how the risks of angel investing compares to buying and investing in art. Perhaps a future video @Pearl-Lam?

I had always thought where to start. There is so much uncertainty around investing which is very discouraging.
Surely the more valuable lesson for women watching this video would be how to become one of those women with a half million dollar salary. Count me in for that video.

I wish this video went further into the courage and confidence theme. I still don’t understand why they say women have less courage to invest or how they get confidence from the angel network.
I think it was Elon Musk who said that they should teach school kids how to raise funding for their businesses in the future. I think he is right. Someone should start an education programme teaching young all young kids how to raise funding for their future business ventures.
It would have been nice to learn a bit more about why women are more cautious investors in the first place and/or why it is that men (apparently) naturally have more courage to invest.

That incident where women entrepreneurs in Pakistan still have to take permission was wild.
I think people are always looking for safety and not encouraged to take risks. Hence so less female investors.
Surely the better way to solve the problem would be to get more men to invest in female founded businesses, given men are already dominating the investment space?
Someone had to speak about it. The gap is ridiculous.
How can I start investing?
I am a female entrepreneur, and finding funding is very difficult. But I don’t think it’s a female thing, I think unless you have family connections, funding is very hard to come by.
I know a few women who have started investing with their money. They tell me it’s one of the best things in the world.
The disparity of men-women ratio in investing is ridiculous. We need more female investors now.
I am curious as to why women aren’t investing as men?
I commend Epic Angels, but it all feels a bit small. That many high earning women should be more of a force of nature in the size of the investment that they make. In the US a minimum ticket of just a few thousand dollars wouldn’t be treated as a credible investor.
I don’t want to be cruel but if the biggest network of female angel investors in Asia asks only 2500 dollars as a minimum investment, doesn’t that suggest an absence of courage from the network - its such an insignificant amount.
My god women making above half a million pounds, and still afraid to invest?
