Quinn reviews the new Apple Beats by Dre Studio Pro headphones. Competing against the best wireless headphones on price, these really have quite a bit of strong competition. Do they measure up? Spoiler alert: no. Sure, they're cheaper than the AirPods Max, but did you know that a feather is lighter than a rock? Is anyone surprised by this novel piece of information? - วิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี
Could have just been a 5 second video pointing out the earpads being non-replaceable. That's all I need to know these aren't a good buy.
Such inspiring technological progress. It makes me wonder what other futuristic innovations we might be overlooking. Perhaps pillows without replaceable covers? Shavers without replaceable blades? Shoes without replaceable laces? Cars without replaceable tyres? Hopefully one day we can reach the Adhesive Singularity where everything is glued to everything else.
@@andybrice2711 Adhesive singularity 🤣
Sorry, you are late to the game@@andybrice2711 Shavers without replaceable blades are already invented.
I had the previous gen, also with non replaceable ear cups. The earcup plush material started disintegrating after about 4 years of use. Price of “repair” according to Apple? $300, might as well by new ones at that point
Especially when they start crack on you after 6 months!
Thank you very much ! It is super rare to have honest feedbacks with all the reviewers praising every single product they receive !
Please keep it real !
Quinn ragging on Beats... a tale as old as time itself.
Hahaha. In fairness, Apple has actually released some legitimately decent Beats models. These, however, ain't it.
@@snazzy disagree, but you’re an audiophile so it’s not worth an argument.
@@snazzy Which ones would you consider good?
@@snazzy I think the earbuds have unquestionably been more consistently good since Apple bought them.
@@snazzy nothing from this brand is decent.
This is a great example of a review that heavily used the product for a long period of time before making the review. Though I never considered buying this, thank you for taking the time to review these right. This content truly sets your channel apart from others. Spot on. Who cares about gimmicks when basic ergonomy is hopeless? With headphones, there's 3 main priorities - make sure they only produce sound out of their speakers, make sure they fit well, and make sure they sound good according to the budget. Everything else is just a bonus. I don't care if the best headphones in the world are held down by an anvil, I won't use them because it's an ergonomic nightmare
it all depends, for me these over the head headphones are the best, I don't have headache with 'em and they are very lite + I love how they sound. So its all depends. And yes I've tried different headphones in this price range (Sony, Bose and Senheiser) - non of the mentioned above suit for me. Same with air pods - some people like them - others don't. The price for beats is bad tho.
battery life?
@@wrth 20-40 hours, depends on how you listen to music.
@@geekgamingnetwork958 lol nah I know that. im just saying that he missed battery life from his "3 main priorities" since the subject is wireless headphones
@@wrth true, I just don't get it, when he don't make an accent that they are "bad" because its his own opinion, not because they really bad. He mentions it one time, but overall mood in the video is not objective, but subjective.
The pads are replaceable…usb c is a major sound improvement…Beats Studio are notoriously durable and the buttons last…. Excellent gym headphones great transparency and anc and good on calls
I usually watch a lot of reviews, but this really made me reconsider paying attention to other reviewers. The people that didn't even test find my suck.
I’m wondering if the Studio buds deserved the almost universal praise they received from most all reviewers I saw.
@@erikhernandez737 I had those and returned them not soon after, for many of the same criticisms as in this video. Far too sibilant for my liking.
I work at a pawn shop and somebody brought these in. I thought for sure they were fake because they just felt so incredibly cheap and sounded horrible.
But nope. they were real.
It blows my mind that these are so popular. It actually makes me mad
😅😂 🤣
The Beats headphones are terrible. Your just paying that much for the Beats Logo on them. Build quality is shit and the sound is bad. They do not go very loud either. I tried the beats headphones in Currys PC World and they are terrible. I have the Apple Airpods pro 2 and they are amazing. Sound quality is good, Noise cancelling is good and battery is good. Build quality is good. Other good headphone brands are Sony, Bose, Skullcandy, and Apple headphones. DO NOT BUY the beats headphones AT ALL!!!
@@jamieradford8069how is it bad
the power beats pro are phenomenal, which makes me mad bc all the other beats products are sh1t, i swapped from airpods pro's to beats bc theyre better in every way minus noise cancelling. @@jamieradford8069
Somebody bought them a month ago and then had to immediately pawn them? Sounds like they're great with money lmao.
Only 1:30 in but these are exactly what my complaints were and why I returned them after 2 days. I was amazed that they were getting such great reviews from everyone else
Problem with most big tech channels is that they are too afraid of losing access to be actually critical of these company’s products (similar issue occurs often in political media). Thank you for being honest and thorough.
Very thorough, informative, and entertaining! Please make more audio content!
Thanks so much!!
Best review I've watched in a long time ❤
There is no way that should be $350. It creaks worse than my desk chair 🤣
I have bought the beats studio pro and I just have to say that all of her comments on this amazing pair of headphones are simply not true. They are the pair of extraordinarily amazing, outstanding pair of headphones. And all this heat is unnecessary and not true
Appreciate that you actually test the product 👍🏻 Seems like many others just read the data sheet
This man was made to review audio products. Please, keep the audio videos coming!
Video so good, it should be in audio only,
Finally someone talks about the creaking!
No other reviewer talks about the crappy build quality while you can even hear it when they handle them.
Thank god for this review. My store got a demo unit of these headphones at launch and for the past month I've been wondering if I'm crazy since to me they felt like cheap junk while all of the reviews were overwhelmingly positive
I actually thought Apple buying Beats would be a good thing, they could put some neat tech capabilities in there, but it seems it's just the name they wanted. Not surprised that they are so-so, it's about the name anyways.
Straight to the point review this one.
To be fair I do think they were more concerned with buying the tech for the sake of having a jump-start on developing the 1st Generation Airpods, and also the foundations of the ANC technology found in the Airpod Pro's and Max.
Nowadays I think we're gonna see less beats products sharing the Apple chips (like here) because I think theyve got all they need to out of that purchase and now it really is just a brand.
Why beats and not anyone else? I think that just comes down to the fact Beats and Apple already had quite the working relationship, and I think Apple wanted Beats Music as the foundation for what became Apple Music too.
Just my 2c
No, they bought Beats to get Jimmy Iovine and his connections to the music industry to help spearhead Apple Music.
I did mention that at the end of my comment but, yeah @@tronam I think thats a big part of it.
I was mainly taking issue with the idea that apple only bought Beats for the sake of having the brand under their belt when I think Beats had a lot more value in their tech and business model than the weight of the brand truly does.
Apple didn’t want the headphones, they wanted Jimmy Iovine and Beats Music which was rebranded Apple Music.
The headphones business came as a bonus, but I think they would rather not have had to keep that brand alive.
@@kaijuchomps4411Apple didn’t need the brand Beats. Their own brand is worth so much more. They also got rid of the Beats brand for the music service which was renamed to Apple Music.
My $170 Anker Soundcore Q45 have LDAP support, BT Multipoint, no plastic crunching, good enough ANC for an office at a sawmill (120dB outside office), a much better soundstage, and left my wallet feeling might better.
The earcups and batteries on beats are actually pretty easy to replace. They aren't quick swap, but I replaced them a couple of times back in the day on the solo3 and it was easy enough.
Not all models are the same…
@@uchihasasuke7436 I'm just pointing out that he made a comment about repairability that actually isn't necessarily true. The beat I repaired had glued on earpads and you had to pop open the plastic to get at the battery, but it was still pretty easy.
Yeaahhhhhhh. Finally a video from quinn.❤❤
More headphones and audio reviews in generally please. Would love to get your thoughts on Sonos for home theatre and maybe other good options
You always have such a fair view on your reviews. I thought I was crazy when everyone was praising these headphones when some glaring issues were apparent when they first released
This was a fantastic review! I love how you just don’t give a crap and just spit the truth
Had them for a week. I agree in every point with Quinn. I may add the following complaints: the ear-cups pressed in a bizarre way into my jaw-bone under my ear after one hour (also mentioned by macaddress) and their rattling build-quality was a real problem on the plane. I tried to sleep and so I leant my head against the side wall and the slight vibrations of the plane got amplified as hell. never had such a problem with my Bose QC35. Unusable!
are you getting paid to dids these, as every point he makes is kinda wack? juss sayin
I received a pair of Beats Solo 3 a few years back, and I’ll just say that this informative review describes an experience very much like the one I had with the Solo W for 1yr until the ear-cup lining all disintegrated and completely fell off.
And, although deeply annoyed by the clear push to upgrade by the headache-inducing ear-cups being non replaceable, & despite the rest of the cans still being functional, I would never want to replace the ear-cups for my ears to once again be greeted by such terrible sounding headphones.
Needless to say, I didn’t upgrade to another pair of Beats. Well, I don’t think anyone really does, even if they purchase another pair. Rather, they continue the experience, and who would purposefully and intentionally do that to themselves?
Awesome video, enjoyed it a lot, thank you!
the ear cups are replaceable just like they are on the studio 3's, the process of replacing them took me about 10 minutes and only cost £10 for replacement ear cups
Wow. Thanks Quinn for doing this review. How did SO many “reviewers” miss all these bad things about this product. Keep up the good work !
Because they're too scared to be honest. Apple has been known to blacklist outlets for criticizing they're products
This video is incredible. Thank you Quinn for really working hard on this review.
I sold beats for years in the airport when they first came out… pre apple. It’s always been crappy. Lol. I’ll never forget unboxing for a customer and the ear cup fell off coming out of the package.
Somehow, this is one of the best product reviews I’ve watched on TH-cam. ❤️❤️❤️
Love the brutal honesty with comedic tidbits.
I am sooo glad you got that review out. I am yet to go buy any new Bluetooth headphones as they are costly. I want some decent headphones that I can rely on when not being used in Bluetooth mode and sound just as good via a 3.5mm connection even after the battery has completely died in several years. I won’t buy Bluetooth headphones knowing they become useless when the battery is dead in a few years and becomes e-waste
5:20 "Their absence is a pain, when you pine to prattle in a pinch" Utter brilliance 🤣
Thanks Quinn for always providing the more exhaustive reviews out there. Other reviewers’ reviews mostly comprise of first impressions, not long term use.
Very much agree with this.
Unboxing = Not even worth my time
Impression = 1 day (don't really care as a person who is spending money on it....)
Experience = 1-7 days (interesting for buyer remorse)
User = 1 Month+ (You will know what it is like to take it out of your bag, connect, etc. What are the annoying bits, decerning details, daily use, etc)
Agree about other reviewers but I don’t agree with this review.
This is why I wait for the long (one month reviews) before buying any audio product. I don’t care who makes it and who says it’s good.
Marques.....
@@crashn2me105 I watch Marques’ reviews all the time, and his review of the Beats is what made me decide to buy them.
I got the Solo Pro around the time they got discounted (which wasn't that much time after they released) and it was miles improved from the previous solo lines of both Apple and especially Monster so I thought the Studio would follow but to my suprise, the Solo Pro got discontinued a year or so after its release and we get this thing.
Maybe it was a cost cutting tactic for Apple since the Solo Pro was actually pretty well built and a noticeable upgrade from its predessor, unlike what we have right here. As far as I remember, the Solo Pro, Powerbeats Pro, Beats Flex, and Beats Studio Buds were the only ones that got decent and favorable reviews from people like MKBHD, UrAvgConsumer, CNET, and even audiophiles like JimsReviewRoom.
Sad to see Apple take one step back with this one.
I was shocked when I saw the price. You can buy a pretty good pair of headphones/earphones for this price.
Lets be honest, you can buy better headphones for half the price easily
I'm still rocking the same pair of Sony MDR-7506 cans, purchased 23 years ago. Outside of replacing a broken earpiece clip and the cups (for $25 total) , they continue to work beautifully. Hard pass at any Apple headphone due to the fact that the batteries are not replaceable.
The only guy I trust with apple products reviews.
Bro says it like it is, not like all the other fanboys.
God bless you sir.
edit: stay snazzy.
Brand loyalty is quite common these days in reviewers. Not just with Apple, but pretty much any brand. Rarer to find people who speak the truth.
Thank you for mentioning the build quality. I used to own beats and they fell apart after no time
At 7:15 I was expecting to see a cat walk into the shot to investigate the headphones, now that something new was on the floor. 😄
This country is plagued by dishonesty in every walk of life. There is little integrity left. Almost everyone can be bought, which is why this channel is special, because it is that rare gem of honesty that we all so very much need.
Dramatic. It is just another review. Just because it is inline with your views it is somehow more honest? Please.
“As long as you don’t admit to yourself that they look crappy, sound crappy, and are crappy, you’ll be happy. Stay Snazzy.” Why did this make me laugh so hard??
Thx for this honest review.🙏🏻
I hate how 90% of reviewers are just mindlessly positive. They trick you into buying garbage you end up instantly returning. Appreciate reviews like this
Brand loyalty.
I was really pleased to hear you commenting of the heat inside the ear cups. I’d be interested to know what you think is the best is for comfort in terms of temperature.
I recently sold my AirPods Max because of this. After 30-60 minutes my ears were red hot and uncomfortable. That’s not to mention the skin irritation I had to the ear cup fabric. Washing the ear cups with water did resolve the skin irritation.
At the moment I’m using a family members QC45’s when they’re aren’t travelling. They’re decent, still quite hot and warm after 1-2 hours.
How does the mesh headband hold up on your pair of Airpods Max?
Spot on review! I got these Beats headset free with my purchase of a new 2021 iMac (student discount). I’ve wondered how the reviews on Apple and Amazon were way off on this Beats headset. Quinn sums it all up perfectly. Now my Beats headset plastic is cracked by the adjustment right ear cup and is unserviceable due to Apple warranty expired. I find it unacceptable to sell these over $99
Exactly how I felt about my previous gen Beats Studio Pros: uncomfortable, cheaply built (and they broke in just over a year), crap sound, and the damn ear pads fell apart and were hell to replace. Not even worth half the current price.
Great review! I like your style.
I returned the predecessor the same day I bought it. I don’t expect the new model will get any better.
I purchased these and returned them 20 minutes after I left the store. The old beats were WAY louder, I think apple cut back on the production on purpose. These were essentially oversized regular airpods (in regard to sound quality)
Rekt, thanks for the laughs. Also thanks for the review of the APP2, love mine.
I assume they need to be on whenever the 3.5mm is in because they may do some active EQing to make it sound better than it is.
a sneaky way to make the audio better for cheap.
$249 is astronomically too expensive for headphones like the beats since you can get earbuds for $20-30 that have a really close Harman target.
You're correct, but Psychoacoustics (the thing youre referring to with the EQ while powered on) is common in almost every single wireless headphone at this point, especially Apple's Airpods Pro and the like. It isnt nessecarily a bad thing, it just turns out you can skimp a lot on driver development by tuning the signal perfectly enough to get the same effect.
@@kaijuchomps4411 I'm not saying it's a bad thing, it's just sneaky they would do it even when the 3.5 is connected
Hmm I just checked the price on the website and they are 349 usd.
Pretty authentic review. I’ve tried it and totally agree about the sound parts
How many different units did you test?
Another pair of headphones I would recommend over these are the Sennheiser PXC 550 2s. Unfortunately, more recently Sennheiser has picked up the very bad habit of discontinuing all their good products. So availability on these will become limited in the near future.
My main issue is with the name "Studio Pro". They don't belong in a studio...unless you need a fancy paperweight.
I could not agree more, I’m genuinely walking to UPS right now to return these headphones to Amazon as I listen to this video 😅
Can these run without battery on usb c mode? And I’m assuming the battery is not replaceable
My Hot Take: The modus operandi of Western tech companies is to make their budget products deliberately worse, so they don't compete with their own premium products. And that's why they're losing to Chinese manufacturers, who just pack in as much functionality as possible (albeit sometimes too much).
Yeah, except this is every company in the world - car companies sell lesser cars or have entire lesser brands. Clothes companies have cheaper brands. Shoe companies. Kitchen appliance companies. This isn't limited to tech, and I am not sure what Chinese companies you are referring to that tech companies are losing to.
@@3serioussSamsung, Apple both has lost tons of share in China due to budget-friendly mobile devices with good specs. To be updated with sources
@@3seriouss Sure, all companies make cheaper versions of their products with fewer features and cheaper components. But increasingly I'm convinced that brands are deliberately engineering their cheaper products to make them worse.
I felt like this when HDTV came out. Yeah maybe we've gotten used to it so much that SD looks horrendous now, but I swear they've pulled bandwidth from SD, making it look terrible, so they can save Bandwidth making the HD look good
I love your videos so much. Awesome presentation, accept, b-roll and delivery!
DMS was critical of these too. Thank god for tech reviewers who actually listen to audio products.
Something that continues to bother me about the tech review community is occasionally a review consensus will spread rapidly around and pretty soon everything is saying the exact same thing in their reviews. Clearly this happened here.
I love you for these reviews :D
Great video! You just earned a like and sub. I bought these a few weeks ago due to the praise they were getting, and returned them a day later over how bad they sounded to me. My sol republic master tracks XC sounded better than them and they are 10 year old headphones lol. Will be getting the momentum 4s soon so hopefully those will impress me.
Probably the best sounding consumer grade NC headphones were Sony WH-H900n (with NC off that is). They are as cheap as dirt nowadays and its odd how much they were slept on.

I liked the last version and could still find them on sale at Walmart. My previous pair started to fall apart after a few years. I bought the new ones and returned them when the sound was too low but now realized maybe I shoulda realized one of the cups had the volume buttons built in.
How did Phillips get the 50 dollar shp9500 so right?
Snazzy my Savior. Just yesterday I thought about getting these over the AirPods Max since they were praised so much and work in the Apple Ecosystem. But now I am back to the Question of I really can’t wait for the next gen AirPods Max (or maybe get the 2nd gen Pro)
For full retail price no I wouldn’t get them. I only got them because I do like them and they were only $169 on Black Friday.
Hi Quinn, I really appreciate the review. My son just started college and has a roommate which makes comfortable Apple compatible headphones a must. He currently has the AirPods Pro 2 but he’s been complaining about how they hurt his ears after wearing them for extended periods. Again, this is in consideration of his roommate. Therefore, I’ve been looking for over-the-ear headphones for him. He uses his AirPods with his iPad and iPhone, so switching effortlessly between them is essential. What over-the-ear headphones would you suggest as an alternative for my son? I know you’re a busy guy but any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Honestly, I have these and the AirPods Max….this dude is clearly just a Beats hater because they’re not that bad. They don’t sound any better than my AirPods Max and when u consider these are currently $169 and the AirPods Max are $449 and NEVER get cheaper than that I would buy these in a heartbeat if your son needs something that works in the Apple ecosystem. For $349 I’d say no but at $169 they’re well worth it.
I appreciate your honest review thank you

I don't know, might just be me, but I think Quinn doesn't like them much.
Any recommendations? I was going to get these but this made me not want to. I have big ears and a lot of times headphones hurt them.
Wow. Thanks for the honest review. You’ve just gained a new sub.
I honestly watched a couple reviews for these beats and ALL have praised these headphones.
I honestly think these headphones are the exact same ones from 2017 but with a few upgrades
Nobody that career about sound quality praised beats.
i have the soundcore Q30s, best bluetooth headphones i've had until now, earpads are replaceable and i think they can smash this new kids toy apple released
So glad I left Beats a long time ago. Had AirPods Max for about a year until the Focal Bathys released. Very pleased with them.
Are the Studio 3 the same as these?
Is there any good over ears u recommend? I was thinking Sony
I own these and I also own an inexpensive, more budget-friendly Sony ANC headphones called WH-CH720N. They sound similar, if not better, with an equalizer, and they’re $200 cheaper. Lighter, feels better built, but ANC isn’t comparable at all though.
Just bought these today. I just tried the find my feature on the phone while the headphones were paired with the MacBook. The find me feature made the sound and all that. So not sure about the problem there.
For pass through, the Marshall Monitor II ANC are surprisingly great. Sounds incredibly natural for me
Your reviews are unique!!!
I personally love honest reviews and not just positive hype reviews reading out specs😊
I can't believe Apple would ship this. By the way, for any audiophiles out there, can there be such a thing uneven dynamic range between channels? My huawei freebuds 5i sre driving me mad because for weeks K thought one was louder than the other but when actually comparing I think its more of a thing where instruments 'breatbe' more on the left channel?
Watching this review I got really curious what you would think of the Sennheiser Momentum 4's. I've used every wireless Momentum headphone of theirs and it's the first one that gave me this balance of great sounding bass and detailed highs. The original Momentum Wireless (basically the 1st and 2nd gen but wireless) had a great bass but muffled highs and mediocre mids. The Momentum 3's had great high's and mid's but the bass was not to my taste. It had a very fun kick which is fantastic while watching movies, but I didn't get the satisfying detail from it's bass. Color me surprised when I actually had to enable "bass boost" for the Momentum 4's to make the experience a bit more fun. I had to get used to them but now they're my daily drivers in rotation with my Airpods Pro 2 and the Airpods Max. While I prefer the sound of the Max, the M4 still sounds fantastic and I highly prefer them when I casually want to listen to some music or podcasts. Why? I never worry about them dying on me because the battery life is INSANE. With the way I use them I have to charge them maybe once every two weeks. While I charge my Max every 2 to 3 days.
All in all a great review! Other reviews made me think it would've been a great replacement if my Airpods Max ever died, I genuinely was convinced. So thank you for this video.
He talks about them at the end of the review.
Objectively, these headphones are built like shit and that alone isnt worth its price for me. But i feel like some of the complaints past that are more of a nothingburger, such as:
1) The controls, It's better than touch controls in my opinion and the playback controls mimic of remote talk cable like you would see on earphones and headphone cables. Yes, it feels like shit pressing it, but that's more of a complaint on its crappy 10-year-old build design instead.
2) using the 3.5 mm is scientifically, not lossless. All of these active powered headphones are playing around with the digital signal, therefore 99% of them are going to be converting them back to digital first and then processing. Even Apple doesn't bullshit that with their own headphones, as shown in the Apple music lossless help page.
3) It's tuning is a massive improvement over the bloody mess that was beats pre 2019. It's sub bass boost is not much different compared to the bloated garbage crap that is Sony's, the slight bass boost that is bose, or to mess that is the momentum 4s. Now technicalities, these headphones are mid and you'd be much better off buying some cheaper noise canceling headphones along with something else that would actually sound good for private chambers.
3) gimmcks like find my are useless if you know how to keep your headphones. Plus apples methods of find my are useless if you don't have an iPhone, as well as most headphones with a find my like feature are just as limited.
4) I agree that these headphones are hardly "over ear" headphones, but comfort is subjective and you're definitely some people that would find these very very comfortable compared to the overly spacious feeling that other over-ear headphones from their perspective.
In my opinion, if you bought these headphones, you didn't make the worst purchase. Compared to the competition, the only thing it really lacks is just build quality.
6:23 first time i heard snazzy swear haha
