Great review, guys. I used to own Sony XM5's but sold them because they just didnt fit well. I have a pretty small head so Beat's headphones are a better fit. I think the SQ of the XM5 is slightly better but I prefer the control scheme of the Beats. Much easier to use IMO. Plus I only paid $180 for the Beats on sale so they're arguably the best bargain in headphones when you can find them on sale.
Love the reviews from you guys. always good to have honest feedback on the products reviewed. Great Work DHRME - Dudes Have Rhythm and Musical Expertise!
I tried the Sony’s and didn’t like the look or design. I got the Beats for $150 at Best Buy and for that price they’re great. They sound good for conference calls and phone calls and the music is perfect for me.
Considering I was able to get the Sony XM-5 from Target (US) last week for $249 it was a no brainer. Love it. Thanks guys for pointing me in this direction.
Great video, really nice vibe and really enjoyed the external shots! Haven't tried the beats yet but o think I'd still go with he Sony ons for my use. Keep it up ❤
Please make this kind of outdoors. It's good for a change. May be add a few good locations to the mix. Rocking XM4 for nearly 2 years now. Awesome product. Will upgrade once it's dead.
I feel the Beats pro just doesn't have enough to it to warrant a $300+ price. No wear detection, no EQ, cheap build materials, comfort is just so so. * ON MY BEATS I could hear a difference in the sound level from left and right, right speaker was slightly louder than left speaker, yes it was just a litte but I still picked it up and yes I tried different sources and compared against other headphones. Anyone else notice this❓ Other than that the sound was good for metal & electronic music. At the recent black Friday price of $170 I say ok, screw me a little. But at $300+ no it's not worth that much money Sound: 8.8 Fit: 8.3 ANC: 8.4
I did my own little research…. And I might ruffle some feathers…. But the Beats Studio Pro actually beat Sony XM5’s. I had both, and I went back to the Beats Studio pros. The Sony has better build quality, but for every day use as a “regular consumer”, the beats hands down wins in my opinion. And I’m talking from my experiences with Sony Xm4, Xm5, Sennheiser M3 and 4, B&O PX7 S2 and so many other headphones. I had my experience with Bose too, but they are different category when it comes to listening. The only complaint I have is the creeping noise from the flex of plastic, but that sound is only there if you are looking for it. Other expensive headphones Shure Aonic 50 have noise too. But that’s if you are looking for it. This an opinion from an everyday listener and music lover. But at the same time, everyone ears are different. So it’s up to the consumer to have a listen for themselves.💪🏾
I totally agree with you. I think the Beats are a bit under rated for everyday life. They’re comfy enough and block out decent sounds and actually sound better than some higher end headphones. The rest of the features aren’t there which quite frankly many everyday people don’t use (changing noise cancelling levels for example). I love my Beats Studio Pro.
No regrets with my Beats purchase, being in the apple ecosystem it still works better than the Sonys for me. I already got a pair of beats fit pro should I want multi point.
This could be a legit series. So good! 😂 I actually enjoyed the review and could get information without feeling like someone was trying to sell me on something or had bias. Very nice! Thank you 🙏🏾
Thanks to you guys and a few others, my over the ear collection is nearing 20 pairs. Thank you for great reviews. I just bought the beats for $179 from Amazon for Father's Day. At that price, I think it's worth it as another pair for the gym.
I’ve used both and just prefer the user experience of the beats. The buttons for volume, pause and start are just perfect. Both are fantastic though and the Sonys probably sound a little better with better anc but overall I kept my beats as they were a little cheaper and close enough. Another great video guys!
Great review and video. As usual, you thought of all of the key issues users consider! I’m going to disagree though and say the Beats are not a bad option. Yes the ANC and I have to admit comfort is better on the XM5’s but the Beats give a certain amount of “joy” for listening. For everyday commutes I find the ANC v good and the transparency though. They’re “easy” for everyday. What I hate however and you’ve pointed out is the creaking. But if you have the right setting on your head it’s not bad. Thanks for a great review!
I have the Sony HXM5 and I just got them today. Replaced the beach studio pro I had with these because the beats studio pro at low volumes would sound like it had some static and it would make it sound funny. So the speaker inside didn’t work very well at all. I do like the Sony ones better because they sound way better and also they cancel out noise very very well. I like how much more comfortable they are too. I also really like having the touchpad like on my CI device which is called in OrCam. Or cam my eye to be exact. it makes it really easy to operate the headphones and I love it. I love not having to press so hard on the headphone just to do something. And I love that they don’t hurt me as bad as the beats. They fit the shape of my head. I also like being able to control what type of noise canceling I want and have a choice between adaptive and active, and also be able to control the sound. I like having more control over them . Also have the Sony link buds. Love those too, except I do not like the rough texture of the plastic. Even though the noise canceling and sound quality are good. Overall, I’ve switched to Sony and I am not regretting it. Sony’s got some awesome headphones and I’m really happy with them. s.
The new video idea is soo creative 👍👌 well done guys. Just one thing I wish you could mention in your videos, speaking about if headphones are able to maintain the same sound quality at max level 😊 bought the XM5 and sold it immediately due to the distorted sound above 80% which no one talks about online... I switched to Sennheiser Momentum 4 and it's the perfect one for sound quality.
@@DHRME don't worry guys, I set sound volume about 50%-70% all the time but there are sometimes that you need more sound and you don't want to be disappointed.
btw guys is there a reason why TH-camrs reviews and comparos never talk about loudness? 2 disappointing examples are M4 Sennies and Z80 where they lack between 20-30% volume versus some competitors at similar settings.
You can audio switch / multipoint on Apple too. I bought the beats headphones yesterday after watching your video. I am able to switch them between multiple iphones without ever going into settings. When I make a call on iphone the beats automatically switch between devices. Maybe it’s been updated since this video came out?
Something that this review forgets is that many people don’t use headphones for just music. Using them with Netflix Dolby atmos with head tracked spacial audio is really really good. I bought these and the latest sennheisers momentums at the same time and because of atmos I returned the sennheisers. If you spend more time watching movies or like head tracked spacial audio in TH-cam the beats are a poor man’s AirPods Max. If you just use them to listen to music on your walks around the block the Sony might be better for you.
I had to return two pair of xm5 ( mine and work colleague) due to callers hearing an echo of their own voice when on a call . We both had same experience form many callers , so not an isolated issue. Have you are any other experience this ?
Dear DHRME thanks for your videos. I have purchased XM5 via your videos and microphone is great. I need an extra wired/Bluetooth headset with great microphone like XM5 which can be used with and without wire. While using XM5 with cable you cannot use ANC functions / stereo mode and possibly person next to they can hear environment voices..
Looks like currently the beats outbeat the Sonys big time since Beats are widely available on Amazon for only $179.99. U will never see the Sonys that low. Im probably gonna pick up a pair of beats because i need a wireless pair to connect to my TV.
Stuck between the Bose QC ultras and the Sonys. I’d get the AirPod max but I don’t use lightning anymore and don’t want to bring those cables back lol What would you suggest
the beats solo 4 sound better than both of these to me and they are louder and less expensive. They do hurt my ears after like 30;mins but they def sound good and I prefer the sound over either of these. They so creek ... but u can always buy applicare for $29 extra
I was thinking, why does Apple not share their knowledge with beats. Just letting beats die and pull all knowhow out of Beats? Too bad. But…..great job guys. Hope you enjoyed your meal 😀
This review is a little too Sony biased. I prefer the Beats sound, comfort, buttons, folding, and case size. I don’t feel the need to EQ the Beat. To me hands down the more daily practical and better travel companion with better sound signature. I wish the QC45 had better sound but ended up returning it after not even being able to EQ the sound to my liking. The Sony’s are great for cold weather, too hot otherwise and would still prefer the XM4, if I had to choose between both Sony headsets.
I have both the beats sound quality isn't bad this time got them for $150 half the price I paid for the xm5 so considering the nc and sound isn't to far off isn't bad
@DHRME yeah not to bad I have 43 pairs of headphones senshiser 800s are my favorite for at home and on the go is the bose 700nc for work the samsung galaxy buds pro 2 I wanted to like the xm5 but their auto feature annoyed me but they are super comfortable compared to majority of my headphones and sound good for a wirless nc headphone
$500 Canadian dollars for Beats. LMAO. I'll save my money for the channel and for my next set of cans, Heavies. I laughed and bloody laughed a crap load on this one lads. There's no shame in taking your time to eat slowly as it aids digestion Kevin. 😉👍
Do you guys suggest getting a headphone for someone in India cause due to the climate it can be a bit hard to use them mostly isn’t it? Have been a basic headphone user most of my life, I want to get XM5 or Soundcore Q45 but confused about should I actually get them?
definitely go for the beats studio pro if you want your headphones to last. xm5s built quality to cheap the hinge to weak. it may break after couple of months
Sounds very biased towards Sony .. The number one thing about any head phones is sound. Everything else comes after it. ANC is also important for many but sound is important. Looks like beats is better sounding than Sony..

Right? Disappointing how they’ve built this product. We didn’t notice a channel imbalance, but they’re very sensitive to placement.
