My biggest culture shocks in Bangkok:
    1. No catcalls whatsoever, I've never experienced it nor have I witnessed anyone getting catcalled
    2. It's very safe compared to where I live, I didn't see sketchy people other than tuktuk and taxi drivers that tried to scam tourists. I left my belongings in a crowded market and the people around there kept them for me. There was also someone who left their camera at Wat Arun temple, yet no one touched it until the security kept it
    3. So many temples yet so many nightclubs. I like the balance 😂
    4. Pretty much everyone looks hella gorgeous and puts effort into their look
    5. Everyone is accepted here. Gay couples, transgender people, women wearing hijab and niqab. No one is judging anyone
I absolutely love Thailand and I kept crying there because of how happy I was 😂 if any of you is thinking about going, please do it!!!!! You won't regret it 💖

Such a bummer you got injured! I hope it heals quickly. It’s so interesting to hear how Bangkok has changed since I visited 5 years ago. There were definitely no QR codes then. Covid has changed so many things. I guess I’ll need to go back 😊

sorry to hear about your leg! Hope you recover from it real soon! Wow, very interesting culture shocks one would not expect. So awesome though how you're there and you get to practice your Thai 🥰

Som Tum is actually Papaya salad, not Mango salad. Mango Salad's called "Tum Ma Maung".
On the cash based society topic. Actually, we've become quite cashless. It's just that we pay with our phone not credit card. You'll see the QR Code with the word "พร้อมเพย์" on it, on the counter of most store and you can just scan those with your Banking Application to pay, i do this all the time and it's very convenient, but idk if foreigners can have these for their phone though, try asking the nearest banking branch of your choice to have them set it up on your phone for you. The System's called "Prompt Pay" or พร้อมเพย์ in Thai.

Hey Lindie! I was wondering if you could make a full video about Preply. Especially in learning Thai. Informations such as process and activity of an hour session, please 😊🙏

First of all, sorry to hear about your injury and hope you have a speedy recovery.
As a Thai person, I find it fascinating that other countries are using cards more than QR codes. (Personally, I prefer a card since QR codes required your phone with internet to activate them but I just getting used to it now)
Normally, our banks provide apps that can pay in QR but I think you can use an app like True or some other prepaid services which you can top-up your money via a machine or 7-11 and use their QR payment service on their apps. I mean it’s been a while for me too, to use cash. Besides some fishy Taxi drivers who do not take a QR (which I encountered once in a blue moon😅), I haven’t used any real cash for 3 or 4 years. (Especially during the pandemic, a lot of shops and restaurants prefer QR scan over cash because of hygiene issues)
For the number of malls, I completely agree with you 😂 I also find it super bizarre that more than half of those malls in Siam vicinity are owned by the university nearby, It seems like now they are putting more focus (too much focus) on commercials and business other than education 😟 just to be clear, I don't have any problems with any malls (Actually, I love to stroll around in Siam Paragon area anyway) but I also want some other things to do besides window-shopping these fancy malls.😅
Wish you good luck and have a nice stay in Bangkok!

I know Thailand and Vietnam are very similar in many aspects but I'm surprised that almost everything you mentioned in the video exists in Vietnam too lol, except the monorail and shrines. Vietnamese people often wear masks even before COVID to protect their skin and their respiratory system from pollution. Could it also be the case in Thailand?

I'm so sorry to hear that you got injured. I used to get burned as a child but when you get used to it that won't happened anymore
And about the mall problem is we don't really have a place to hangout it's either go to the mall or go to some coffee shop. We don't have that's much park to used as a public space that's why the mall is everywhere.
And about going to the clinic. Actually we do have those clinic as well but normally we wouldn't go there if it's not something serious if it's just some small injuries we usually just treat the wound ourselves.
And the reason we still wear our mask it's only because most of us can't afford to get sick. If we can't go to work some work place might deduct the salary. And Thai people usually we stay together in one house like a big family so if one of us get sick we will put all our love one at risk especially elderly people so we just try to protect ourselves as much as we can

Sorry to hear about your leg. I hope you will be better soon. Bangkok seems to have changed (QR code and so on) a bit since 2013, when I last visited the city. Besides, I ate a lot of fried rice with vegetables, eggs and chicken there at the street snack bars because this wasn't spicy. Enjoy the rest of your trip.

You can use the contactless credit card at all the 7-eleven stores and most other convenient stores in Thailand with no lower limit.

Hi Lindie! Thank you very much for sharing your experience there and allowing me to remember more little memories^^
QR Codes to pay is suuuch a convenient thing!! I had the chance to be able to open a bank account as I was an exchange student there earlier this year, and that was super super practical, especially at the markets, restaurants and convenience stores on the uni campus and near it, AND for exchanging money with friends! Too bad that I somehow couldn't use it at 7/11 or other little grocery stores though... Also, having Line app on the phone is indeed essential there!
As you said, speaking Thai (which I still can't) or hanging out with Thai friends is very important, especially in the city or "tourist" places, cuz people would charge you way more than the actual price (even though it could seem like "nothing" to us foreigners). My friends said people actually used tuktuk quite a lot, but since more and more travelers started "experiencing" it, the prices went up, even for locals. But, well, sometimes it doesn't even work to have those friends with you... I took an "open"/"truck"/"shared" kinda taxi (I don't remember the name) in Bangsaen with my Thai roommate (who did all the communication ofc), it didn't even go the right direction, and it cost more than a private taxi...
Remember one thing when you go to Thailand: nothing has a fixed price (when it's not written).
Anyways, I still had the most amazing experience ever so far, in that country, and I can't wait to go back!

Some similarities with Malaysia. A lot of malls, the rise of QR code, and continual use of face masks. It is no longer mandatory to wear masks here in Malaysia but people still do and it is polite to do so. Covid is still very real and I do occasionally do a test before meeting people. You have been to Singapore and Thailand, are you gonna visit the country in between one day? XD

Masks are still a requirement indoors in Korea as well, although I've heard that they're planning to lift the mandate in March-ish 2023. As a professor, I'm excited for when the mandate is finally lifted so I can see more of my students' faces :)

A restaurant I work at doesn't want to go back to using regular menus so we still enforce QR codes for the menu and for payment. We have paper menus in case the person's phone doesn't work, but other than that, we are very QR code heavy unlike the rest of the restaurants in our area, our whole state even. It is an Asian restaurant so I suppose that is why but other Asian restaurants I've been too for the most part are back to using regular menus 🤷‍♀ Covid has changed things in many places it seems

Hope your burn wound gets better soon and doesn't get infected. Burns absolutely suck..
I might ask, do you think the reason Thailand is still focused so heavily on covid regulations is because they are really tightly together and comingling a lot, so illness spreads more easily without masks? Do you also know if people there are vaccinated for the most part? If they are not, then that might also explain why covid is still an issue for them.
I'd like to learn more about Thailand soon from you. Your content and way of speaking is so real and regular. It's not got that 'youtuber' vibe. I can't wait to see more of this type of content from you, maybe even a vlog!

Approaches to Covid in different countries are fascinating.
For example, China has only recently ditched it's 'zero covid strategy', whereas many countries are more relaxed.
Obviously not every country has the same standard of healthcare though. Also, Covid isn't going away any time soon. For example, my wife and I tested positive two days ago after we returned from a cruise to different parts of Spain.
