Inspiring artistry. Someone who truly knows that machine. Like redlining a Ferrari round Monza and gluing it to the road, thrash, but in complete control. Hats off to you. Very cool.
Amazing video! Had to try these tricks on Vital immediately. This stuff is actually easier to understand on software synths, where you can see the LFOs going and doing their thing.
i really love how the combination of modulations really starts to shine and sparkle around 14:40, as you say the cherry on top. Great video on how to go subtle on mods, thank you! Not every synth has polymod, i.e. an LFO per voice. The Oberheim Matrix 6 has not (it is one of the first synths with a fabulous modulation matrix though), but the ASM Hydrasynth has. i'm gonna try this on both.
The peak seems like such a powerful tool, I have the Bass station 2, but I’m so tempted to upgrade to this beast! When you did the reverse key tracking I think it really glued this patch together, cheers!
enjoyed making this patch with you. I'm on a gaia2 and it could do all of it except the repeat count, and keyboard drift (I think). Thank you, I learned what LFO fade was for, and some fun ways to route things of course.
Mr Peak will get some quality time tonight for sure :) Lovely sound and super well documented. Using the filter mod LFO 1 and keytracking knobs myself probably, but for the sake of showing what is going on, this worked very well indeed!
Fantastic to see you work. Now I want to recreate this patch on my summit! I didn't know you could reroute the fx order! Learn something new every day :)
Bpm synced lfos are the key to learn about & make good use of in modern day pro audio gear of any type imo... be it synths, drums or fx. The more sync lfos a device offers, the better off a device can be from its lfo implementation. If a device offers x2 lfos, i generally alway use 1 as a random shape lfo modulation & generally it goes straight on a mod for a filter to my sounds. It helps me from getting loop madness cycling my sequences as i am track developing something. & 90% that simple application of random modulation in 8ths or 16th timing will stay on the sounds & tracks im sequencing. Most of my gear will feature at least x2 good lfos... but ive picked out certain gear that have 3-5 of em
I love this idea. Great technique on this one. I didn’t realize the Peak has all these LFO manipulation options. I’m going to try this on my MPC One and see if it can do this. Thanks for sharing Ricky!
Awesome trick. I liked the square a bit more on the LFO (gave it a ducking sound), and thought the initial LFO was so pretty with that alone, that I'm trying to use an animate button as an option to bring in the second LFO, no luck yet. The Peak will always be my desert island synth.
I call this, Modulate the modulators. I've been making these rhythmic pads for while now, I like it best on the REV2. I learned this from someone else, if I'm not mistaken was it Abel de Beer TH-cam channel, will post the link below when I can find it..
This is one of the coolest vids you've had in a while(they are all good). This sound and vibe are just right up my alley. Even though I know this isn't Peak specific, it boosts my craving for a Peak even more. Do you think they are still worth getting these days with all of the options out there?
I have the peak. I have the patience to keep turning the knobs until i get the desired sound...its just my time to play with it is after work and i always start the 💤 's before I achieve the goal lol. Videos are always desired...saves time i need lol.
Very cool! I love doing something like this, but instead the 2nd LFO I use a mod envelope to change speed together with keytracking. I am not aware of another synth that has this LFO repeat function. Nice!
Love to see Novation Peak Tutorials. I also have a request for all the dawless musicians creating content. Especially the bigger ones who would have access to this. Could you guys make some Machindrum x Monomachine videos. They're such legendary devices that most of us will never get our hands on so it would be awesome to see them in action through you guys.
Very nice, very good breakdown! Got me thinking how I would build this in Ableton Wavetable. Setting the LFO repeats like that could work with one of the envelopes. That part might be tricky to reproduce, not a feature I've seen a lot elsewhere, or at all.
I have a question. When you want to modulate a knob, can you simply touch the target knob, or do you have to scroll through the menus always. I mean, I get that some modulatuon targets (or sources) don't have a front panel equivalent, but how about the simple case. For example on the Moog Subsequent 37 or Roland GAIA 2, settng up simple modulations doesnt really require looking at the display. Sorry if this is a dumb question. I'm thinking about buying a Summit, so simply trying to understand.
Love these types of sounds! Quick tip - instead of using LFO2 with single cycle and fade you can use one of the mod envelopes for exactly the same effect (to scale LFO1). Edit - I just noticed when trying this patch out the normalled LFO1 depth to filter knob is bipolar which doesn’t play well after the lfo stops. The mod matrix has the ability to do positive only. That reverb decay drone at the end was so nice. When you gonna do a noise set? 😀
I only have Syntakt but there you can set LFO 2 to control LFO 1 speed and get level 2 result. I don’t think you can create different timings depending on note pitch though.
For note pitch, the syntakt has filter key tracking, but no routing I know of. What you can do though is use aftertouch or velocity to also move some params though. But yeah, not the same
Can I sample this?
PLEASE DO!
Seen lots of your videos, but it wasn't until watching this one that I realized that you' re the young Bob Ross of electronic music production.
Love when the Peak comes out!
The Peak comes out at night…
Peak Ricky!
I've never had the opportunity to touch one but I every single time I see it on video it puts a smile on my face
That’s what she said
SAAAAAME!
You are a natural teacher and super chill to listen to Ricky! Kind of the Bob Ross of synths. Thanks for all you do!
I'd like to thank you. I learned so much from you 🙏
Gianni thanks so much for the super thanks! Im happy to have helped you :)
Inspiring artistry. Someone who truly knows that machine. Like redlining a Ferrari round Monza and gluing it to the road, thrash, but in complete control. Hats off to you. Very cool.
Today I set out to make a patch on my Summit. Procrastinated and opened TH-cam and here you are keeping me on track.
God mode on the sound design. Beautiful, as always.
Yessss I love these kind of patches! polyrhythmic synced saw lfo plucks are a ton of fun as well!
That's a serious beautiful patch, my friend. I'll try this with granular synth too. Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you! Beautiful patch: sounds like summer rain and warm stormy night...
Yes! This is exactly how I like to start my Saturdays
It’s cool there are an endless amount of synth topics that Ricky Tinez can make videos about.
Amazing video! Had to try these tricks on Vital immediately. This stuff is actually easier to understand on software synths, where you can see the LFOs going and doing their thing.

I love this synth so much. And whilst there is a constant stream of gear coming and going Peak and Pro3 will never leave. And the Meraki. Most likely.
The peak seems like such a powerful tool, I have the Bass station 2, but I’m so tempted to upgrade to this beast! When you did the reverse key tracking I think it really glued this patch together, cheers!
Oh that was great! I tried to apply the basic principles to my Microfreak (I wished I had such a fancy Synth :)) and learned a lot!
Its rare to see an artist who is at one with his instrument. Monsieur Tinez! I am always amazed and humbled by you :)
You’re REALLY good at this. I love that you know this synth, I love the pace, and the whole vibe. Thank you for helping me with my synth. More please.
Wonderful and inspiring! Great video. I am starting to learn piano and your videos have been lighting a fire under me. Thank you!
Love seeing you planting those chords on the keys bro. As always, you share the love and knoweldge making LFO magic...much appreciated my friend.
keep coming back to this video man, such a special patch
enjoyed making this patch with you. I'm on a gaia2 and it could do all of it except the repeat count, and keyboard drift (I think). Thank you, I learned what LFO fade was for, and some fun ways to route things of course.
I have completed my performance rig. Now I have to build my design rig. I'm ready, Senpai.
Wicked sound at the end that is!!! Love this machine!!!
new tools for my Peak tomorrow morning, thank you bro, wonderfull patch
now i understand why peak owners are so happy with their synth. they didnt even know what an lfo does
The chaos in the outro jam is so gnarly but so smooth too 👌🏻Nice jams, brother.
That patch is beautiful man
Your Peak tutorials are my favourite ❤
Wow, the final part is gooooood
Mr Peak will get some quality time tonight for sure :)
Lovely sound and super well documented.

Love love love your sound design videos. You always cover the minutia that others don’t cover in detail.
I love your Synth videos. Thanks Ricky
My peak is arriving this tuesday 🫠🫠🫠 cant wait any longer!
This LFO phase trick is so nice. Thank you! 💙
absolutely love your videos and the sound, keep going!
One of my favorite sound design video, thank you ❤
Beautiful patch!
Wonderful Patch❤
There are not many synths where you can set the number of repeats for the LFO's.
Bpm synced lfos are the key to learn about & make good use of in modern day pro audio gear of any type imo... be it synths, drums or fx. Best peak videos on the tube
Beautiful! Love those chords
Thanks Ricky. I always learn things from you my friend.
Jussssttt started teaching my friend. Nice timing.
Loooove peak patches
I love this idea. Great technique on this one. I didn’t realize the Peak has all these LFO manipulation options. I’m going to try this on my MPC One and see if it can do this. Thanks for sharing Ricky!
Felt like I was watching Bob Ross if he learned synth instead of painting.
Great technique and a wonderful ambient drone at the end ❤
Getting Thom Yorke in the patch at the end.
Excellent, thank you!
Awesome trick. I liked the square a bit more on the LFO (gave it a ducking sound), and thought the initial LFO was so pretty with that alone, that I'm trying to use an animate button as an option to bring in the second LFO, no luck yet. The Peak will always be my desert island synth.
This was completely ethereal
Freakin’ lush
Beautiful Sound ✨

Gorgeous!
That is some cool ish Ricky
Oh yes, Ricky and the Peak, excellent.
So Luuuush!!! Reminds me of some Phil Western works.
Peak is such a nice synth
Novation really hit it out of the park, RIP Chris Huggett (Designer behind Peak and Summit)
This is one of the coolest vids you've had in a while(they are all good). This sound and vibe are just right up my alley.
Even though I know this isn't Peak specific, it boosts my craving for a Peak even more. Do you think they are still worth getting these days with all of the options out there?
oh hell yea, I've been on the fence of getting a Summit its just so massive haha
I have the peak. I have the patience to keep turning the knobs until i get the desired sound...its just my time to play with it is after work and i always start the 💤 's before I achieve the goal lol. Videos are always desired...saves time i need lol.
Could have also added keyboard modulation to reverb wet/dry so higher notes are more spacey than lower notes. Great video, thank you!
Very cool! I love doing something like this, but instead the 2nd LFO I use a mod envelope to change speed together with keytracking. I am not aware of another synth that has this LFO repeat function. Nice!
Beautiful
masterclass.. thank you
very nice, thank you for sharing!

Yup, if I had heard this sound in my head I would also think it was worth a video
Wow, patch is great, this video makes me want novation peak so badly..
Super cool!
Yo, i just watched a documentary on jodorowskys Dune and came here. What a perfect match. Perfect movie Score Patch ❤
Thanks for so much valuable information, I feel less shy about the Peak now. Where do these cool transparent jack cables come from? More Peak! ❤
Very nice, very good breakdown! Got me thinking how I would build this in Ableton Wavetable. Setting the LFO repeats like that could work with one of the envelopes. That part might be tricky to reproduce, not a feature I've seen a lot elsewhere, or at all.
Mind blown!
awesome!
Very nice video
What a great video, this has a real Boards of Canada vibe! @RickyTinez, could you share the chord sequence you were playing?
Gosh darn I’m having trouble making this work on the hydra
well that took a dark turn
So sick!
One day ❤
Thank You Ricky
Did you see any synth with so advance LFO ?
I have a question. When you want to modulate a knob, can you simply touch the target knob, or do you have to scroll through the menus always. HAHAHAHAHAHA this video is a gem
Maaaaannnnn peak
More Peak stuff
Ha! That was fun!
Now I’m thinking I want a Peak
It’s worth it
same
nice
Don't want to make any music. I bought my Peak just to impress my friends 😊
I will never sell my Peak.
Could this be done on the Elektron boxes? Digitone for example?
I only have Syntakt but there you can set LFO 2 to control LFO 1 speed and get level 2 result. I don’t think you can create different timings depending on note pitch though.

This was awesome... I need a cigarette and I don't even smoke anymore! 😮❤
anyone know where the lfo repeats are in Vital synth??
Hey Team - which synths (hardware or software) have the LFO repeat functionality?
Team?
