    Summit was my first piece of hardware. I don't think I'm ever going to get rid of it, I love the experience playing on it so much.

    Summit was my first lockdown instrument. Bought a refurb from focusrite. It did unfortunately have a hardware fault and I downsized to Peak - bless focusrite they gave me a new peak in return. But after some months I found myself wanting my Summit back. Had a good deal on one but it was sold underneath me. So I went back cap in hand to focusrite and said I'd messed up (not cause peak is rubbish - but it's not got the same UI or extra Peak!) and bless them... I got a brand new summit in exchange.
    What a company. What a synth.
    It's so... Modular and yet... Not....!

    I really love my Summit, but now - since the grandmaster of ambient has one too, I will cherish this beast even more. Thanks so much for the never ending inspiration. Hope, I will get the chance to meeting you in person soon some time here in Khao Lak, Thailand. That is one of my biggest wishes on my bucket list! Love and light from a now rainy Khao Lak ❤️☀️🏝🌴🥥 🇹🇭

    Still enjoy coming back to this to hear the incredible sound design possibilities and soundscapes of the Summit in your hands!
    Question - it sounds like the effects are 100% wet. Did you use Summit's AUX outputs to enable this (100% wet, no dry)? It apparently is the only way to achieve such a sound (main out still has dry signal). Cheers!

    • @stateazure
      @stateazure  4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks, man! I don't believe the effects were 100% wet, unless that's how I set them, but that would be unusual for me. Fairly sure I was using the delay mix set quite high in the extra long mode, almost looping

    I’ve just got mine 1 or 2 weeks before your release 😊 Your sound is awesome.
    I’ve to admit that i was a little bit lost at my first try on it, and even thinking that the sound was not has I’ve expected… Perhaps cause it’s my first real polysynth of this genre. I was hesitating with the Hydrasynth 😏.
    Recently i was even planned to complete my set with a poly full analogue like a prophet or a polybrute… Is it necessary after all ? 🤔
    Now, i only thinking of exploiting the full potential of this incredible machine 🤩
    Finally it’s better for my money 😅

    How do you even learn to do something like this? I'm relatively new to music production with no formal training, but I have a Hydrasynth explorer and Digitakt - is it just a matter of trial & error and hours of practice until you figure out what "clicks"?

    • @xntricity6446
      @xntricity6446 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it's about researching the equipment you own and take the time to learn it (TH-cam video tutorials are great) trial and error helps but takes you a little longer to get to the end result.

  • @kballjr2
    @kballjr2 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    🧐 After owning this synth for quite some time, is as follows... Very harsh sounding synth! The Midrange sounds decent. Hooked to a mixer with a -3 to -6 reduction in Treble, Same for Mids, helps even out those Sparkling Harsh highs... Other than that don't get me wrong great synth... Just a warning if you plan on shelling out the steep price!

    • @stateazure
      @stateazure  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I never found this synth particular harsh, or any worse than any other synth I own, but it would very much depend on the patches you're listening to and your monitoring/ears.

    Great demonstration of the versatility of this keyboard.
    Do I hear some kind of looping of phrases?
    If so is it done externally or within Summit itself?

    • @stateazure
      @stateazure  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes there's looping via the Delay set to its longest time, then switched to Hex mode, which makes it more lo-fi but it runs at a sixth of the rate, giving even longer delays.

    I never knew you had a Summit.
    What are thoughts on it? Is it a keeper for you or just...yeah it's ok.

    • @stateazure
      @stateazure  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I had the Peak for quite a long time and it's one of my favourite synths, so upgrading to the Summit was a no-brainer for me. I think either are great synths if you don't mind the hybrid circuitry. The sound design potential, front panel controls and amazing FX section (best I've heard on any synth), all just add to the fun.

    • @dankeplace
      @dankeplace ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stateazure I think with the Rev 2 you can have diff effects on the layers, the delay would be specifically different for the Summit if used like this, just altering it a little can make it sound different if this makes sense?

    • @Timespacefractal
      @Timespacefractal ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, but in Multi mode, that is, not in the demonstrated Single patch here (which already sounds awesome). Summit = 2 Peaks and more (more = dedicated FM controls, a very slick dual filter, and you can route external audio through its superb effects section in combo with another layer). Each layer (A or B) is has its own effects, timing, arpeggiator, etc.; you only cut the voices (8 each layer). The Rev 2 compares pretty well with the Summit, same bi-timbrality, etc., but the Summit is truly unreachable for the Rev2 as it comes to reverb and FX (routing). I waited long buying the Summit until two months ago when firmware 2.0 came out and some really serious bugs were resolved (but for one minor). Btw, the left-right panning of voices you hear here is, I reckon, one of those many nice new functionilities in v2.0 (confer with Peak). I'm happy, State Azure adds it to his arsenal; promising indeed.

    • @stateazure
      @stateazure  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Timespacefractal Thanks for clearing that up, I wasn't sure if multimode would give you 2x the FX section, that's amazing considering the crazy high quality of the delay and reverbs especially. The reverb imo is on par with Valhalla Shimmer, and must quite taxing on the system.
