What a great idea - must try this out on mine and see where else that leads me. Thanks for sharing. Need to brush up on my theory to understand when you said transposing the sequence moved it from Dorian to Lydian mode (when you transposed from C to A, it looked like, at the 9 minute mark).
Thank you. Very innovative and inspirational. You combined features in such an interesting way to produce something anyone can use. This method is something I would likely never have discovered, let alone though up on my own. Thank you for sharing this!
This was just the impetus I needed to get the Crave back off the shelf and explore it more. Thanks for sharing the ideas in such an easy-to-follow way.
Was wondering about how to automate it properly with LFO. How do you setup this clock sync lfo ? There is a S&H on crave ? I mean I know the random parameter for the assign output but don’t see a S&H
Thank you for taking the time to demonstrate the seq and arp functionality of the Crave. The detailed instructions help a semi-modular newbie (such as me).
Great job m8 !!! Pls could u show more tricks/tips on the crave !! Or even on the volca drum (in my opinion are reallly interesting gears to dive into )
I love it! Thank you for sharing, I need to try this out sometime. I did something similar on the Crave (random unrepeated melodies within a scale), but using a different approach. I can't remember how I did it though XD
@@gil_ramos I think it was something with the LFO patched to the reset so it would reset at a different point in the sequence each time, but it didn't sound like it was repeating the pattern, so I think there was more going on but I honestly don't remember.
Great tutorial! Just little notice. Pattern isn't saved. To save it, hold SHIFT + PLAY, until it starts flashing slowly, then press SHIFT + RECORD, and it's saved.
Great tutorial, I really enjoyed it. I had problems trying to incorporate this into my live set. If I use the Crave as the master sync it stops my drum machine when VC Mix drops below 50%, If I use my drum machine as master sync it over rides the VC knob. Same with my Micro Freak. I am using clock sync. Any ideas how to get around this?
Check my performance video here using this technique: th-cam.com/video/7BIW-EGwM_A/w-d-xo.html All the devices are synced via midi by a DAW. I am using a MOTU Midi time piece II. A sort of midi mixer in order to send the pulse to all the devices at the same time. I will definetely check also the Assign Output on the Crave´s patchbay and see if It still sends the Clock no matter if you´re in pattern mode or Arpeggio mode!
Thank you for your kind words. What I know is just a few things, but I put in my discoveries all my effort in simple and step-by-step explanation. Glad you can understand my point on this video!
Just to be a bit pedantic, the notes in C dorian are C D Eb F G A and Bb - these are the enharmonic equivalents of what you wrote, so it makes the same sound, but it's much easier to understand if you only use each letter name once. A C dorian scale is the same as a Bb major scale starting on the second degree.
Yeah, I went to school too. Nobody else gives a shit about enharmonics and the ‘difference’ between Bb and A#. And since you used the word ‘pedantic’, it’s an obnoxious trait that gets on people’s nerves.
@@longfadehe seems honest AND knowledgeable, so I can overlook “pedantic”……. I hope you have Contentment and Inspiration and Good Health in all your years coming…💛 and patience, you need patience within you💛🙏
@@longfadesome people may not care, but I thought it was informative and not using note names twice (e.g. D and D# vs D and Eb) made perfect sense to me for writing stuff down more clearly. Guess that makes me nobody, then. 😉
Some people are just born mad at the world. Maybe we should annoy him more by explaining that there is a difference between D# and Eb, and also between A# and Bb.
Sounds real nice and lots of possibilities with the crave. Could it be used as a midi controller for older synths? I like it and will have to purchase one of these soon after Christmas. I'll have to save this vid to be able to see it again for your well explained tutorial. Well done and thank you.
Flandria, thank you for your feedback. As far as I know, this is not a Midi Controller. However, you can control multiple parameters to external Synths using the Crave's control voltage patchbay and patch bay o cables to modeling and synch other devices

Wow that idea to combine the arpeggiator and sequencer with vc mix is genius. Thank you!
I love do discover new creative ways to do some music. Thank you for watching

Thank you for your feedback. Please also share your achievements if you intend to Simon.
This is amazing. Using this method on the Crave and Grind together is a dream.
But you tested also on a Grind? Did I went well?
then use the hidden clock-synced LFO in sample&hold mode to drive the VR mix knob and let it meander on its own!

Wow now that’s a great set of Crave tips!!! Thank you!
I intend to other videos. The more I discover, the more I will share!
I learned something new today!
And for that I am trully grateful
WOW!
Thank you Waggon!
Blimey!!! This is so good!
Thank you. I hope you can test it for yourself
Great video and tips! Do you have any ideas on how to apply it with connection to Behringer Edge?
I do not have the Edge, but I plan to acquire one and then I´ll make some content on that, i hope! Thank you Kee!
it‘s a great sequence and I could listen to it all night long.
We can spend so much time with this technique without being boring. I will try it on my next song / jam video!

Wow !! Brilliant !
Thank you! Cheers!
This is awesome, I have a crave and never thought of using it this way, I was thinking of buying a Spice to do this.
I will have do dig deeper into this guy now. I´ll document my journey with you people.
excellent - this is very useful. thank you for sharing
This is very useful for me. Give it a try. Experiment with other scales and modes. Try some rests on the composition. Cheers
@@gil_ramos i definitely will. i am wondering whether it would be best to modulate the vc mix pendulum with an external modulator like PAMs or OCHD?
@@particle-dots You should try yes, but I think you lose control over your mental flow. This way you can compose in a very organic way... I think
Very cool ideas! I'm going to try patching with the Behringer Chaos to randomize that play/stop.
That´s great. If you will, please give me feedback on that when you try and if you succeed.
Excellent. The crave is shuch a powerful synth for what it costs. I love my crave, very underrated.
Couldn't agree more!
Really cool I just got one for Xmas
Merry Xmas with your orange device!
This is amazing, so creative. Thank you 🙏
Give it a shot on this idea if you have a Crave!
@ - I haven’t got a Crave, but I do love ‘random’ controlled sequencing. So I may have to buy one!
Fuck dude thats pretty cool ! i love the general patching concept here and would love to try this kind of thing in VCV, very nice original demo
Thank you for tacking the time to see this and process the information to adapt for your ideas!

Any idea how to control/automate VC Mix?
Same question came immediately to my mind after the vid. So I've patched the LFO TRI out to the VC MIX in ;-)
after the arp setting when double clic and setting the first note, it doest start playing by itself, what is the problem?
Lukz, is it happening to you or are you refering to my video?
Same here🤔
