  • I head up to Duluth Minnesota to take on the rowdiest double black trails in Piedmont: DM, BOB (Bones Of the Beast), Dr. Rockso and more...
    I come with ambitious goals, trying to knock them down one by one, meeting great people and excellent riders along the way. Come along for the ride as I push harder than ever before. I get beyond my comfort zone and subsequently over my head in this beautiful Duluth landscape.
    Enjoy!
    &
    Stay Dialed in my friends!

      You’re not kidding, I was incredibly fortunate to run into Tom. Great guy, Excellent rider, super helpful. Thanks man, this day was definitely an all in sort of day, I conquered so much trail I’ve never attempted in one day it was ridiculous. Huge accomplishments for me and give a massive shout out to Tom for helping me achieve some of my bike goals.

    Working my way up to this trail. Almost ate shit on admiral rockbar yesterday, had to walk a good chunk of it, that trail is nuts. Cased Dr Diablo and almost went OTB on that weird rock. Peidmont is nuts, beat the crap out of me but looking forward to clearing all the trails (except maybe admiral rockbar, that shit was insane)

    That's a monumental day of riding man, these trails have to be seen in person to know just how difficult they are. Piedmont's pretty special to me, when I first got really into MTB in Duluth and was learning how to ride I remember exploring and couldn't believe people were riding these trails & features. Hoping to finally get back up there soon with my full squish for the first time and finally shred these instead of skipping them.

    • @Dialed1
      @Dialed1  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea man! By the way you’re riding I think they’re in your wheelhouse. The best advice I can give is even if you’re an advanced rider, start on the easier stuff up here and slowly graduate to the three bigger ones DM, B.O.B. And Kissing booth. If you’re good at drops, Dr. Rockso is also a fun little drop line.

    I watched your video and rode DM and BOB today. Your video helped get me through the trails! Wow, those trails are freakin crazy, fun and scary! DM seemed to be a bit “easier” for me than BOB. I know I’ve got the skill set to do BOB, but mentally, I wasn’t feeling it, so I tiptoed down the trail and picked my spots to shred. I did the big Dr. Rockso drop today and it was great. I also did Valley Girls, which was a pretty gnarly trail toward the bottom half of the trail. Thanks for the videos. They are super helpful. How did you and Tom get back up to the top of Nimby? Did you climb Skyline or walk back up DM and BOB? There’s really no easy way to get back up to the top.

    • @Dialed1
      @Dialed1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is awesome! I’m stoked for you! Glad the vid helped you out! Yea, they’re both heavy trails and at this point it’s a toss up to which one scares me more. Yea, there’s no shame in hiking a section if you’re not feeling it. To get back up, I’ve always just taken Skyline.

    What kind of speed do you need for that first big drop on Dr. Rockso? I’ve been eyeing it up, but have been hesitant to do the drop. I’m a bit concerned about overshooting the landing, but coming up short would be a major problem. It’s probably a lot more mental than physical.

    • @Dialed1
      @Dialed1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Most of the time I overshoot the landing a bit, It’s never been a problem. You can sort of coast into it once you pedal to the crest of the hill. It is a fun drop! What’s your biggest drop to date?

    • @Randy_Johnson
      @Randy_Johnson 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Dialed1, I did a very similar drop to Dr. Rockso, down at Camrock in southeastern Wisconsin. It was a 6 foot drop with about a 12 foot gap and a very good slanted landing. I was going to do the drop today at Piedmont, but it was too muddy on the run in and also the flat landing and I didn’t feel comfortable doing it. I’ll try it again tomorrow. I can do the rest of the Dr. Rockso trail without any problem, so once I do the big drop, I’ll have the whole trail down pat. Thanks for the advice. I’ll let you know how it goes.

    • @Dialed1

      Personally I’d put it in the top 3 for sure. It really depends on what you enjoy. Where Duluth really shines in my opinion is the steep natural rock slabs and rolls combined with sweet views of Lake Superior. I could really see living here as a MT Biker. But some people will be perfectly happy ripping the MSP trails till death do it’s part. And some people hate the MSP trails and only want Utah, Montana experiences. I say rock whatever trail is around on whatever bike you can find. Lol on the rant. Are you considering a move?
