Nice edit! Trying to plan a week trip up here this summer. I like that you listed the trails in the video. Helps a ton!! From WI and heard really good things about this town and trails!!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. The town and trails are a ton of fun! I'd recommend staying at True North Basecamp - great cabins and camping on a lake with access to the trails.
Nice, I bought a lot near these trails about four years ago. Still need to build my bike house, trying to save those pennies. Definitely happy about all the new trails being added. Ride on! 🤘
Thanks a lot! I appreciate you saying that. Cuyuna is fun and there is a bunch of new stuff that went in since I made this video, but it’s hard to escape the lure of Duluth. It’s still my favorite place in MN.
@@KrisYahner I honestly just starting MTBing. But right now Levis mound or hickory ridge in chippewa county. Im uploading a video soon to my page with Hickory ridge. Heading to wausau to ride 9 mile friday.
That corner at 9:20 gets me every time! The Yawkey unit has a lot more of the tech stuff. I might suggest driving over to the HW6 trailhead for that section. It's a few miles of green XC to get there. I'm probably going to be heading there in the next couple weeks. My wrist is finally feeling almost healed and I'll start traveling around again.
Yeah, that tree comes up quick! I love Yawkey unit. We pedaled over on the day I filmed this but only had time for a run down Bobsled. There was construction at HWY 6 and had the road pretty well torn up when we were there. Have you ever ridden the unit over by Riverton? Glad to hear the wrist is better. Those types of injuries seem to take forever to heal.
I think the last time we rode bikes in MN together it was on some mowed grass paths in Lake Elmo. The riding around here has changed a lot since then. 😃
I often get caught on the same loops when I go up there. I gotta venture out more now that they've adjusted the trail linkups. I haven't been on Mucker Mountain or Roly Poly for a long while. I don't think I've ever ridden The Chute. That looks SUPER fun. Also, I'd session those big skills area jumps with you. I haven't done the drop yet, but I'm not worried about it. I wanna figure out those jumps! They're big and spooky, but tantalizing.
Can not recommend having Trailforks on your phone enough for Cuyuna. The Crew keeps it updated with any trail changes. Also, Trailforks has routes. There are currently 17 routes created by locals on Trailforks. Tom Selleck Stole My Mom and Gluttons for Punishment are the "do everything" routes.
Kristofer Yahner I headed up there today and checked it out. So many unique ideas packed into that area. Even the beginner flow trail from the top was crazy. Love how the trail gives you options over and over again. Lots of super floaty turns to. Brilliant!
Great video, thanks for creating such awesome content! I Love riding my hardtail at Cuyuna so don’t let that comment at the end of the video scare you. Hardtail is the way to go on these trails.
Back in the late 90s (before the bike trails) I was camping at these mine pit lakes and took a walk into the woods. There was a bit of a clearing ahead that was up on a mini plateau next to a steep rocky hill. As soon as I stepped up where my eyes were above the floor of the "plateau" I saw it. First the tail, as my approach roused it from a nap. It rose, turned from me and soundlessly and effortlessly scampered up the steep, rocky hill and out of sight. I only saw it for 3 seconds but I know what I saw. I saw a mountain lion.
I discovered this place last weekend while we were camping near the area. Iv become obsessed. I need to try this! I noticed that people have really expensive bikes. Would i look like a fool showing up with a $120 walmart mountain bike? Looks like so much fun!
Awesome! I’d say the most important thing is that you get out there and ride. It doesn’t really matter what you ride as long as you are having fun! I’ve seen a wide variety bikes up there. If you did decide you wanted to try something different I know Red Raven in town has some nice rentals.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. It's definitely worth a trip. I like spring and fall the best but pretty much anytime is a good time to go. I'd recommend staying at True North Basecamp ( www.truenorthbasecamp.com ). They are right off the trails and they have regular campsites as well as cabins and 'glamping' canvas tents.
I think you'd enjoy late summer more than early summer because May and June are wood tick months. By July the ticks are gone. Late August / early September is about as good as it gets.
Those jumps are quite big for the amount of speed you can get off the drop in. I wish each jump was 3 feet shorter. The first 2 jumps are tough to clear. Then jumps 3 and 4 have the shortest steepest lips, almost bmx like.
You have to pedal from the drop in to the bottom of jump #1. If you clear it clean you can carry the next three without pedaling. My favorite part in all of Cuyuna!
Finally a good showcase of what Cuyuna has to offer! Awesome video!
Thanks! Gotta get back up there to film the rest of it
“Bobsled” is the best trail hands down. I grew up in Crosby and in the last 5 years they’ve added and improved the trails a lot

Right on! That would be an awesome place to own some property.
Awesome video man as usual. You're so close to 600 and I'm super happy for you because you deserve it with all of your great videos.
Thanks man! Appreciate the support
Had to watch this again--missing the trails up there!
There’s a lot to love!
I do enjoy your videos. I'm planning a trip here next month as long as I don't keep driving to Duluth like I did three times last year.
Thanks a lot! I appreciate you saying that. Cuyuna is fun and there is a bunch of new stuff that went in since I made this video, but it’s hard to escape the lure of Duluth. It’s still my favorite place in MN.
Just spent a week up there exploring! What a place!
Nice!
I can't believe you made that drop on your hardtail look so easy. I've been dwelling on that drop.
You’ve got it! Practice on those other drops in the skills area. This one is only a little bigger.
I love your videos. Im from WI but cant wait to explore more trails in MN
Thanks! Appreciate the support. What’s your favorite place to ride in WI?

Brian Vaughn I’ve never been there either. Wondering if it’s any good.
@@KrisYahner it's all green trail so I've always passed on that section. There is a section of trail near the airport that looks interesting.
my son is 10 and he hit the big drop on the dubble black and the jumps
One of these days I will make it back to MN for visit. Looks fun!

I was just there in June & had a blast! Awesome trail & an amazing community! I love MN!
Excellent! I think it’s tough NOT to have a good time there.
Nice video man! I just tried out Giants Ridge last weekend and it was a blast! I plan on getting back to Cayuna as well before the snow flies
Yeah man! I still haven't made it to Giant's Ridge this season. Hoping to remedy that soon!

Great vid, I need to get back up their again.
Thanks! I don’t know about you but I’m only about halfway through the MN trails I wanted to hit this summer and time( or the summer) is running out
Yeah, so true. I guess that's a good problem to have? To many trails not enough time.
Cool video dude, keep em coming!
Thanks! Will do!
Haha! Awesome video. I’m guessing we’ll be seeing a video on Tioga next? That place looks unreal from the few photos I’ve seen.
Ha! Soon! There’s a lot of fun stuff up there.

Nice work, Kris

How about the new trails in the last two years?

Hey, I would love to ride with you guys and show you some stuff you missed! Also a sick new jump line
Thanks, always happy to have a guide. I've heard the new stuff up there is alot of fun.
Kristofer Yahner the way they designed the new trails is a tad confusing. Yawkey is redesigned
thanks for making this video. is there a beach and swimming area at the trail head/ parking area ?
Yup! There is a lake at the main trailhead/parking area.
There's not a lot of "beaches" but the place is saturated with lakes and there are plenty of places to take a dip.
Great Video! Might have to plan a weekend trip here this summer! When is the best time to go? Can you camp somewhere near Cuyuna Lakes?

Skhate and Destroy Haha!
My cabin is in cyuna and we bike there all the time
Nice! Not a bad place to have a cabin.
Do you need full suspension for this trail or can I bring my hard tail mtn bike
A hardtail works great here. Both Tony and I are riding hard tails in the video.
Me and my dad were on the galloping goose trail and almost ran over a porcupine
😳
Anyone else live next to this place
Cabin 20 mins. Great area. Check out wood tick inn while you are there.
Too fast you’re going to get a boo-boo
Too late
