"Fast rolling with lots of grip." Welcome to Midwest trails! At least 80% of the time. The other 20% is divided between super dry and loose/sandy or too wet to ride.
Glad to see a happening MTB scene in MN. I may be moving to St. Paul from the Bay Area next year for grad school. I’ve visited there both summer and winter. The people were all good, but the weather kicked my Cali ass!
NIce video! Duluth has got the goods for sure and there are so many fun lines in Piedmont. For anybody here who is discovering Duluth for the first time, Hawk's Ridge and Lester Park are a ton of fun too and Spirit Mountain has good lift accessible runs.
This is funny-I left Duluth after 30 years to ride real trails in Washington State. Glad you got to check it out though and there is a lot more trails than there used to be! The real beuty is up the shore.
Hey BKXC loving the videos. Your videos have helped me turn my life around by inspiring me to get back into riding. After years of riding bmx as a kid, I let my weight get out of control and have recently weighed the most I ever have in my life 292 pounds which is sad because I used to be in really good shape..... But with the inspiration of going out and doing what you do I have managed to get down to 280 pounds! I'm going strong and gonna continue going. Thanks for the hours of entertainment and inspiration!
Welcome to MN. It’s great for me to compare your riding on known trails to your vids of unknown trails. Helps me gauge those trails when I venture out to new places.
Always love the commentary, especially mid-ride maintenance. 🤙🏽 It happen to me on my 2nd ride on the new whip, lol 😆 Great clip once again, Live-Life-Loud!!!
Welcome to MN! I’ve wanted to try the Duluth trails for a while now. This just gives me extra motivation to get up there. Enjoy the North Shore! It’s my favorite area in the state with the best scenery! Did you check out the Cuyuna MTB area too? That’s another spot I need to check out.
3 mouthes ago i bought a pick , after to weeks i went into an accident in the high way so i feel so sad to my self when i watch your videos but i really do enjoy it 😊
Brian, what the hell! You ate lunch 2 blocks from my house! You gotta come back dude. Ride the rest of piedmont, and do a full traverse ride..make an "epic" video like your bcpov bikepacking stuff...north end of the city to the south and then end the day with some lift access at spirit..would be incredible. I'll give ya a place to sleep!
Awesome you made it to Minnesota. Duluth definitely deserves some credit for the great trail system they built. Cuyuna Lakes is definitely a must as well and Minneapolis/Metro Area has over 100 miles of single track to rip as well!😎
I always heard great things about the deluth area for MTB. It's only going to get better as well. Hope you made to copper head in Michigan as well they got some crazy north shore type riding there.
Just missed you,I was just up in the Gunflint trail outside of Grand Marquis, you should check out the Pincushion Mountain trails. Also endless ski and logging road access to some of the States most remote area.
Your pos Evo SS makes as much noise as mine! Oh, yeah, nice technical trail that second one. Driven through Duluth many times on the way back to WI to see family. Never biked there though.
@@UncleDavid218 David yeah I remember you! Ha crazy, I live in msp but still have family in Duluth so I'm there every couple weeks riding. We should next time I'm up, I'll message you on fb
@Andrew Bush Lake Superior's average surface temperature is 38 degrees. Too cold for breeding. Trust me, I've living in Duluth for 6 years, and before that I lived in the buggy hell hole that is the range. The two places couldn't be more opposite!
Nice to see you are in the area Brian! Hope you make it to Copper Harbor, Marquette, and the CAMBA network/Mt Ashwabay at some point too! The Lake Superior area has its surprises. (Edit: spoke too soon; saw your Instagram post detailing your trip out here)
Brian!! I hope you made it to Copper Harbor in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Amazing for the Midwest! You make it to South West MI I got you on beers at my Brewery.
There is a some sound feedback fluttering. As always great rideing , can't wait to get my bike back been in the shop sense Mon,o getting a back up for just this kind of slacking that goes on with going to a bike shop, not like it used to be.
Didn't know you were in my neck of the woods. I would have totally joined you guys! Duluth is Rad. So is Cuyuna if you can make it there. Hope you had fun!
+Brian Vaughn - I don't understand why 2way traffic would be restricted unless it is a downhill trail or maybe some other danger but most trails can handle double direction traffic. Anyhow, I was hoping to see you in this video too, next time BKXC should invite you, when I think of MTB+Minnesota+Internet it always equals, Brian Vaughn!
The trail system in Duluth is 2 way because it’s also for hikers and trail runners, not just bikes - it’s a community trail system which is focused on all aspects of outdoors. We do have some 1 way trails for some of the gnarlier stuff though!
bkxc just a quick question how come your not filming with the new go pro hero 6 in 4k 60fps is there a reason for this at all loving the vids keep them coming
Also, if you make your way towards Minneapolis you gotta let me know when. Urban Singletrack at Theodore Wirth and many other trails around the cities.
Plan your MTB trip to coincide with one of the many many beer or outdoor music festivals Duluth has a lot to offer as a vacation destination it's a outdoor mecca.Wish I had seen you on the trails that's what I get for taking a day of from riding.
As a person that lives in Minnesota and rides a lot in the duluth area, this video got me SO pumped!!🤙🤙
Hell yeah!!
Piedmont reminds me of stuff we have in Northern NJ. Wish you were able to see more than just Mountain Creek while you were here.
Just mountain creek this time!
Love what you said about mellow trails! Everyone needs more for sure. Making Deluth Hawaii look good! :)
HAha yep!
Worldwide Cyclery not to be that guy but, **Duluth**
Love the upper Midwest! Glad MN is in the MTB map!!
I wouldn't mind riding 45miles of such a smooth, densely green trail. Looks really beautiful. A lake to cool off is just a bonus.
"Fast rolling with lots of grip."
Welcome to Midwest trails! At least 80% of the time. The other 20% is divided between super dry and loose/sandy or too wet to ride.
Thanks so much for posting Brian! We need more recognition!
My pleasure!!
Awesome! My home state! Glad you enjoyed it!
I love Kissing Booth! Looks like you did a few more classics too. Thanks for stopping by!
Glad to see a happening MTB scene in MN. I may be moving to St. Paul from the Bay Area next year for grad school. I’ve visited there both summer and winter. The people were all good, but the weather kicked my Cali ass!
Do it! Tons of trails to choose from.
Fleece lined jeans and an actual parka. You won’t even notice the cold
The greenery and conditions of that place remind me off Rotorua here in New Zealand!!!
The Skinny North Shore feature with the off camber rock drop, you hit it blind‼️ 🤪👍🏼
Haha going for it !!
Yeah! BKXC stands for riding the best trails in the world! It really does! You never fail to inspire and impress Brian! Good stuff! Much love!
NIce video! Duluth has got the goods for sure and there are so many fun lines in Piedmont. For anybody here who is discovering Duluth for the first time, Hawk's Ridge and Lester Park are a ton of fun too and Spirit Mountain has good lift accessible runs.
Lester Park has a really fun swimming hole at the bottom of it with a 15-20 foot cliff jump.
I live there
Those piedmont trails look sweet, a nice balance of tech and flow!
Man, I can't believe how good you are especially when you ride at the funniest trails. Even your dudes are as good as you. Always keep up the work!
Loved the look of those trails, thanks for sharing Brian
This is funny-I left Duluth after 30 years to ride real trails in Washington State. Glad you got to check it out though and there is a lot more trails than there used to be! The real beuty is up the shore.
Second deluthian to leave and come to Washington. First being my mom

Welcome back!! Just do it all one day at a time and you'll be back to your old self!
Duluth is rad! Great trails, great food & amazingly cool people.
Really liked this one Brian! All those big slabs of rock are so cool to ride on I bet
Thanks Dude!
That second trail was gnarly. Proper chunck.
Talk about culture shock , Idaho to Duluth !! Sick vid as usual , Brian !!
Welcome to MN. It’s great for me to compare your riding on known trails to your vids of unknown trails. Helps me gauge those trails when I venture out to new places.
Yeah, I love that aspect too!
Glad you finnaly got to fast some of the midwest! Crazy seeing you ride trails ive rodden!
Never knew Minnesota has those world class trails. Looks like fever sicked ride!!

Cuyuna and Duluth are different styles, but both so much fun!
Missed Cuyuna this time around!
Cuyuna is my backyard I love this place! Next stop spirit mountain.
Another great video thanks ! My home state Minnesota . Not where I live now but great to see the trails !
Good mix of velvet smooth trails and rocks!
Great riding, love the smooth trails at the beginning!
super casual trail. thanks for the adventure
I like those flowy trails too, still working my way up to the more gnarly stuff! Nice looking trails up in Duluth, Brian
Nice to see you improving the dropping Skills Nice One!!
Hell ya about time you came to Minnesota! Come back in the winter for awesome fatbiking!
Finally got up to Duluth and road Kissing Booth, Valley Girls and a couple other trails. It was a tough day.

Grate trail Brian you make me hungry all the Time lol and a nice swim at the End looks like you all had a good time ;0)

That afternoon trail looked nasty!! Nice video sir.
LOL! 4:02 - I hear those clipless shoes; sounds like...... Shimano's SH-ME7, right?

Haha yeah gone through two gimbals so far on this road trip
Hey Brian yet another cool video hero dirt and all......👍
Duluth! My home trails. Glad you liked it, should have definitely checked out a few more.
Trails look awesome. You ever ride them in the winter?
Reece - I think we went to elementary school together? Funny finding you on some TH-cam comments. Are you still around? We should ride sometime.
@@UncleDavid218 David yeah I remember you! Ha crazy, I live in msp but still have family in Duluth so I'm there every couple weeks riding. We should next time I'm up, I'll message you on fb
Reece Zimm that would be rad! Let’s do it. I usually ride a few times a week.
Always something to come back for!
Did something change with your audio setup? I can hear your gimbal motors and your bike sounds are more lively and immersive.
There's a price to pay for humidity and hero dirt - MOSQUITOS!
Duluth really doesn't have many mosquitoes. there is no stagnant water for them to breed in, it all flows down the hill to the lake.
Humidity here is it's own punishment. Again though Duluth escapes the worst parts of the warm weather in MN
I didn't see a bug in Minnesota or Michigan!
They’re not as bad anymore during this time of the year
@Andrew Bush Lake Superior's average surface temperature is 38 degrees. Too cold for breeding. Trust me, I've living in Duluth for 6 years, and before that I lived in the buggy hell hole that is the range. The two places couldn't be more opposite!

Hell yeah, had to hit those spots!!
Brian!! I hope you made it to Copper Harbor in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Amazing for the Midwest! You make it to South West MI I got you on beers at my Brewery.
Awesome video! Love your stuff
Next stop Copper Harbor Labor Day weekend for the trail fest? That’s where I will be!
There is a some sound feedback fluttering. As always great rideing , can't wait to get my bike back been in the shop sense Mon,o getting a back up for just this kind of slacking that goes on with going to a bike shop, not like it used to be.
Are you headed to trails fest in copper harbor this weekend?
wow so nice
Next time come to cuyuna! Just a couple hours up the road!
You have to ride the copper Harbor trail system in the Upper Peninsula
Epic trail
Hope you got to go to enger tower and stop by and get some A&dubs. That's my mom's birthplace and stomping grounds.
Didn't know you were in my neck of the woods. I would have totally joined you guys! Duluth is Rad. So is Cuyuna if you can make it there. Hope you had fun!
Duluth is the new Whistler? Who would thunk that? How fun! 😊
You're so fast on the rocks!
Love the chunder!
Hey Brian!! Damn I was at spirit that weekend. I wish I would have bumped into you.
Gotta keep those eyes peeled!
Awesome video nothing else to comment!!!!
Two way traffic is not popular in Minnesota. None of the twin cities trails are two way. Cuyuna just rerouted to be one way.
We haven’t had enough traffic on the trails for this to be an issue but this may be slowly changing as Duluth gets discovered and busier.
The trail system in Duluth is 2 way because it’s also for hikers and trail runners, not just bikes - it’s a community trail system which is focused on all aspects of outdoors. We do have some 1 way trails for some of the gnarlier stuff though!
BIG fan of one way.
Thanks the video! I love it!
Good ! Keep it up man !
bkxc just a quick question how come your not filming with the new go pro hero 6 in 4k 60fps is there a reason for this at all loving the vids keep them coming
coos bay oregon has some cool flow trail's like that first one.
Dude!! Come visit Marquette, Michigan!! I can guarantee you'll find the trails you're looking for, I promise you!!
I saw some tree arches on the first trail. You know what that means!
Also, if you make your way towards Minneapolis you gotta let me know when. Urban Singletrack at Theodore Wirth and many other trails around the cities.
Aw man Im going up saturday! come back and ride again!
I love the content.Im only ten and me and my dad mountain bike all the time.Keep it up
Last time I was in Duluth I did spirit mountain till I couldn't stand on the bike. Iv been meaning to get back out there but something always comes up
More you ride that mountain the better you’ll get!!
@@bkxc I'm hoping to hit up Blue mountain outside Toronto at the end of the month and I need all the practice I can get
Nice ride 🚲🚲🚲
You were in Duluth? Fuck I missed you! Did you hit Admiral rockbar or DM while here? Those 2 trails are cream of the crop of Piedmont jank.
Noticed the gimbal motors quite a lot on this vid. Is it behaving its self.
Had to ditch it once I realized it was making this noise, but I think I realized it a little late so a couple more vids will have some buzzzzz.
BKXC not as bad as mine at the moment. Sounds like I’m riding with a vibrator ha ha ha ha
my home! i recognize Medropolis starts at 6:53
Gotta check out Copper Harbor in the UP!
Dude come to Mankato Minnesota, Mt.Kato is one of the best xc trails in southern Minnesota. Techy desents are a definite!
how is it an xc trail if it's techy descents? I've heard good things about it though
Brian your hubs are extra loud today 😂 nice riding as usual
Great video
BKXC finally visiting my state!
What camera do you use?
Plan your MTB trip to coincide with one of the many many beer or outdoor music festivals Duluth has a lot to offer as a vacation destination it's a outdoor mecca.Wish I had seen you on the trails that's what I get for taking a day of from riding.
Sweet! Hope you got yourself some Duluth Trading Company Bucknaked underwear!
Right next to beautiful river
moab with trees?
Gnarly!
Lol beans!!
What does BKXC mean?
Nice work "climbing" Valley Girls! My buddy and I have a standing $20 bet of who can make it with no-dabs or the least amount of dabs.
I’ll give you the grand tour!
YAhhhhhhhhhhh Minnesota
I rode piedmont last time
Wait have we seen you ride in Hawaii yet?
Not yet!! Maui has some possibilities but most of it is illegal.
