    The irony is that the Wrangler is purpose built for challenging off-roading but now too expensive to want to take off-road. Kinda like being afraid of ripping a supercar around a track the way it's designed to. Such is life.

    What you show in this video is proof-positive of one major point: When a better "Jeep-type" vehicle is built, Jeep will build it! I've been fond of my 2012 JK Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon since the day it arrived in Provo, Utah. The past eleven years have only added to my love affair with the Jeep Wrangler. Every time my wife and I visit one of the other Hawaiian Islands, we always rent either a JL Wrangler, or a Gladiator. Am anxious to drive a JL Unlimited Rubicon with the full-floating rear axle. (I've never broken an axle shaft on one of my wife's and my Jeeps; in years past, I broke many "tooth picks" as I called the rear half shafts in Series IIA and III Land Rovers. They were full floating axle shafts. The problem with them was the fact they were full floating, but related to inferior metallurgy (in my opinion). You've done a wonderful video here! Thanks very much! Andy McKane, Maunaloa, Molokai, Hawaii.

The times I did, made me regret the scratches, body and wheel/tire damage I had to fix. On road dynamics, where it was used 98% of the time, were horrible compared to the Bronco. What I want now is a cool looking 2 door truck that can tow my boat, handle some snow in the winter and look good as a convertible in the spring to fall. The Bronco beats the Wrangler on what I want from it. On the first week of owning the Bronco we drove from PA to SC through Amish country and Hershey creating nice memories. We put about 1k miles on that trip and had no discomfort. I drove the Wrangler to FL and it's simply not highway friendly.

      The reason why they don't is because of how many they'd sell. With the fuel government's fuel economy requirements, they'd have to pay huge fees because the average fleet fuel economy would take a huge hit. That's the real reason why the 392's are being produced in such limited quantities. My guess is, the 3.6 will be gone in the next refresh and all models will be some type of hybrid.

    My 2017 Smoky JKU stickered for $45k. Rubicon was similar in price back then. They must be pretty proud of what they have to jack the price up to where you take out a mortgage for the thing. I think I’ll hang onto mine for a few more years. Plus less mechanical components on mine means cheaper to maintain over the long haul. Once the warranty runs out on these new ones it starts getting more pricy to maintain.

      While prices surely have gone up on everything, the new unlimited rubicon stickers for 51k including the destination charge If you can avoid options. I mean is that really that bad considering it’s 7 model years?

    I've owned a Jeep J.K' 2010 model & 2012 model and I loved those vehicles even after solving the death wobble problems without the help of Jeeps customer service.. I know the Wrangler inside out & the open air is a big draw for me. I sold my JK a few weeks ago & took a test drive of the 2023 JLU Rubi the otherday, loved all the improvements but I was shocked to find a driving problem that has plagued these vehicles since 2009. I'm 6'4" with size 13 feet & the footwell is still very uncomfortable.on the left & right hand drive models. Jeep seems to have missed the refinement boat on that important function(driving). If I amputated my left leg I may be able to do a cross country drive in full comfort but no joy here.I took the 2023 Ranger Raptor for a test drive on the same day & now I'm out of the Jeep sleep because I kinda' like walking when I finish a 4hr drive to the camp site.I know there's aftermarket dead pedal kits for the LHD JLU but nothing for the RHD version. Why has Jeep skipped over this problem?

      Don't forget the 7500 tax credit, makes it pretty close in price but with an extra 100hp and 200 lb ft of torque - and better gas mileage to boot. I traded my gladiator in for one and there's no going back to the v6 (which honestly wasn't bad, but more power and better mileage along with the generator capability is pretty sweet).

    The reason the Wrangler became so popular, for me, is that it have personality (it's not a "trending" Jelly Bean design that want to be "good" for everyone in the world). It is 100% honest. It is what it is and nothing else. The best off road machine in the world. And the most important, it is the one of the very few analog and fully mechanical product that, thanks God, still live and evolve. And for all that, Thank You Jeep.

    As always great review, great journalist Roman,
    But what's funny the guy said "if it's not broken don't fix it"
    Fix the price (all manufacturers) and fix the reliability. I come from a very large family & at one time the majority drove jeep, Chrysler, products & they all were always broken & in the dealerships for repairs, needless to say no one in my family has Chrysler products anymore.

    Question about the mog ? Is that 49 mpg only until battery dies and then mpg will drop to whatever gas engine alone is rated at ?? Or 49 mpg for a 500 mile trip ??

    • @Gabriel-fh8ms
      @Gabriel-fh8ms ปีที่แล้ว

      It's more complicated than that. It's actually 49mpge. That just means they are trying to show you the efficiency when using electric mode. Going 21-26 miles using 15kwh of the battery equates to approximately 49mph if it was burning gas. Your commute and driving habits will determine your actual fuel economy. You may get way more than 49 or drastically less.

    I like the ability of providing electric power to ones home or work sight from the vehicle. To add 19.7 Kw of batteries to your already installed solar panels would probably cost 25k or more.
    With the 4xe you receive $7,500 tax credit and 20k worth of batteries.
