Sony actually addressed the issue with the cold temperature phantom touches. It happens because the touch controller is calibrated for a given temperature range when the device is turned on, so if you turn it on inside and then go outside when the indoor-outdoor difference is big, the issue could potentially happen. Turning the headphones on outside or restarting them once outside gets rid of the issue. Ever since reading up about it on Sony's support page I haven't had the issue happen to me once.

Love the sound signature of Sony M3's but the most amazing feature for me is the ability to release cabin pressure during flights when reaching high altitudes and when landing, by activating the atmospheric optimizer of the headphone. I used it for a couple of international flights and cabin pressure on my ears easily goes away. It's so great.

    • @lloydlausa5314

The pain of cabin pressure on my ears immediately goes away when I use the optimizer. When we are about to land, I let my girlfriend to try if it will work with her and she was amazed to feel the immediate relief of the cabin pressure pain. On the bad side, I was the one who suffered. lol.

I just got the 1000xm3 as an upgrade from the m1, which I love. The main things I love about m1 are the neutral (and crisp) sound quality which combined with the noise-cancellation results in amazing sound. Strangely the m3 is more like the headphones produced for the masses - stronger bass which mushes the clarity of the sound - that's imho really bad (and stupid) move from Sony.
Now one of the features that made me confident about the m3 is the option to setup a custom EQ settings (in my case to drop the basses, and up the tremble) but apparently that drops the quality of the Bluetooth protocol, and that kinda defeats the purpose.
So as result when I'm using them wirelessly I either can set EQ to my liking and accept the drop in signal quality, or keep the latter but then either live with the overwhelming basses and mushy sound, or would have to configure different EQs depending on the situation and application I'm in.
So while the m3 might be good headphones, coming to them from the m1 is just disappointing!

The sensitive/inconsistent touchpad is a show stopper for me. Also the Bose is lighter and just more innocuous than the Sony. When I read other reviews using both to make/answer cell phone calls Bose stood out big time. Bose can also connect to 2 bluetooth devices simultaneously. Sony can not and many are complaining that the call quality is terrible for the person on the other end. I like the Sony's sound and NC slightly better than the Bose but they are very close and the Bose is more comfortable imo.

So as long as you absolutely don't care AT ALL about making or receiving a call, these are great. Otherwise, Bose is the only choice.

I've had my set for a few weeks and am very happy with them.
My only negative (first world problem) is the device to device switching. Sure, it's easy and quick to disconnect on one and connect on the other but it is a shame they can't do multi devices.

    • @Paul_McNulty
      @Paul_McNulty 5 ปีที่แล้ว

Update: I don't know how I did it, but they now switch between devices! (Computer connected as voice, phone connected as media possibly?) That is, if I am listening to my phone and I play something on my computer that is what I will hear with no switching or disconnecting/connecting from me. Then if I want to listen to my phone I either stop the computer playing and the phone will start up again or I can go to the phone a push play and it takes over. Very nice!
Also, the noise cancelling is beyond belief. I was in the gym room this morning where they had loud music playing and I simply couldn't hear it - it was an almost surreal experience.k

I've had these headphones since Christmas and the more I use them the more I hate them!! They get hot after 15 minutes wear . I feel the noise cancelling takes away the clear sound. They do not work with my Sony Walkman nwz-zx2 android hi-res and A35 player because via the headphone connect app you cannot change the equalizer in LDAC . They are great via the cable but this defeats the object . And they are great at noise cancelling but for me it's more about sound and I don't like the bass too heavy and even on my s10 plus phone which I can use them on I can't really adjust this.

I cant believe how many reviews gloss over this point. Call quality is a disgrace. I sold my xm2 and bought the qc35 ii. It's like night and day in comparison when making calls. With the qc25 ii it's also really easy to buy a wired microphone for really noisy environments. Unless you ONLY use the Sony's for listening to music and its minimally superior ANC then they are much overrated in comparison to the QC35 ii.

So I thought I was CRAZY for this pairing issue. I have Jabra headphones that have this multi point bluetooth, which I didn't know was a thing, I thought it was normal.
So having an ipad and an iphone, which means no NFC connections, every time I wanna switch devices, I have to go into the original device, disconnect, then go to the new device and connect. It's a small issue indeed, but SUPER annoying. It's a little easier if you're further away from the original device. Like if you walk outta the house with your phone and you had been connected to the ipad. The ipad connection will drop, then you can just connect straight to the headset, instead of shutting down the ipad connection first.
Gotta be honest, it seems REALLY lazy on sony's part to have all these little bells and whistles, but not to have this multipoint thing. Between that and the cost, I'm 50/50 on whether to return mine or not.
