    I've been researching this exact thing since I got my Model 3 RWD in December. Yours is the BEST video of an install by far. I've been looking at Tylard and Satonic. Tylard has pathetic video of how to install. Satonic 3rd party videos were ok. Thanks for doing this. I'm sold.

    I purchased two weeks ago and received and installed today.
    Couple of notes:
    I did get an updated version with no additional bracket and no seperate control box on the wiring.
    Mark with a very fine point paint pen where the original release mechanism sits vertically compared to the frame where the two 10mm bolts attach. I had to spend a while getting my vertical position of the closed hood back to the correct height.
    Longevity I supposed is yet to be seen, but it doesn't seem cheap/throw away.

  • @TM-hr6nv
    @TM-hr6nv 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +16

    Buyer beware - there are a few of us in the comments that have found that Tylard has been sending out a different version that doesn't seem to fit on the cars they say it does 😢.

    • @KhoaTeslaRossa
      @KhoaTeslaRossa 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Was Tlyard able to resolve the issue? Hansshow mentions on their website making sure you order for the right car or else, no refund.

    • @TM-hr6nv
      @TM-hr6nv 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @@KhoaTeslaRossa No. I've been emailing their support every day since February 26 for installation clarification and return/exchange instruction after the item broke.
      I ordered the correct item and the box states it is the correct item but it did not fit my car the way their support described- it's slightly too short to reach the mounting area.
      They suggested I "just force it" so I had two other people help me to force it and it bent the metal on the mount for their soft close mechanism so the first time I used it it got stuck closed and now it's jammed.
      Luckily I tested with a screwdriver and not the Frunk hood.
      They have requested a video of the device not working before they will consider a return/replacement but it's been a slow process.
      Honestly I would be extremely reluctant to install any of these that doesn't have any sort of emergency release! Even the original design in the video is at risk from getting stuck if the motor seizes.

    • @KhoaTeslaRossa
      @KhoaTeslaRossa 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@TM-hr6nv Yeah you know when it isn't the right part. Not sure if it is stuck. Is it the same as using 9v battery to get it to pop? Sorry for your trouble and thanks for the info. If I get one, I will order from Amazon.

    • @TM-hr6nv
      @TM-hr6nv 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@KhoaTeslaRossa The release needs to be a cable that physically disengages a seized/unpowered motor. Satonic makes one and you put release the cable down near where you would use a 9v battery but the release itself does not require the 9v. It does not allow anyone to get into your trunk as all it does is release the motor in charge of soft-closing the Trunk i.e. it does not relase the OEM Frunk lock.
      I ended up buying the Satonic variant. It has its own problems with the installation instructions having no indication of how to mount the motor without giant (not included) Zipties but it does have a working release cable.
      Tylard is still jerking me around so I'm just going to try and un-bend the metal to allow the latch to move freely and to sell it to someone with the correct model year Model 3 to recoup SOME of my costs- with the warning they might have to take off a wheel or unclip the bumper a bit if it gets stuck.

    • @TM-hr6nv
      @TM-hr6nv 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Update: Tylard never accepted the return. If I showed them it not working in the car they would tell me I "didn't install it right" and if I showed it to them not working outside the car they would then say "install it in the car to make it work". I sent them video after video of it not working, getting stuck, not fitting and they would just dodge the issue. I ended up selling it to someone who had a different model year. No idea if they got it to work.

    Finally! After Hansshow kit power struts failed on me forcing to drive with unlatched hood with speed capped at 40 km/h (25 mph) I removed it and while I appreciated the convenience I wasn't willing to put another fail-proof gadget on my hood again. For the video you should show opening the Frunk and leaving it to timemout and see it suck back in, which is what I think is the point of this device as if you remotely pop the Frunk by accident, you cannot reclose it. I do see in description however

Needed to add a screw and change positive connector. Has in line fuse. Bolts over top of existing latch and no messing with existing mechanism. After test in with internal casing out ok tested with frunk in place. Needed to raise bolt on part as rubber housing seal made it too hard too close. All good now.

    I always recommend trying the latch process using a screw driver in place of the actual hood… if for some reason the motor does not release (reverse)after pulling the latch down you can not get in the frunk! I Had this issue with the “full power fronk kit” and had to remove a front tire, fender well liner and was lucky that i could reach in with a home made tool to manually release the latch… the back up release under the little cap will not work if the soft close motor is holding the latch down. Hope this makes sense…

      The Hansshow kit mounts the motor separately and uses and emergency release cable. It's the same mechanism that comes with their Full Power Frunk kit. Not a fan, that's why I ordered the Tlyard kit. Hope they didn't change it and made it new and unimproved 😅

    • @johnadelus

      I recently ordered the Tlyard kit and what arrived is totally different. The motor is not attached to the latch bracket, and there is no separate loop at the end of cable as it comes already attached to the latch bracket. I have no idea how to install what they sent me and their service person is not being very helpful. This is what they responded with:
      “Because this product is an upgraded product, it will look a little different and does not require the use of metal spacers. You can go ahead and refer to the installation video as they install almost identically”
      “they install almost identically” is not true it is totally different, and now they have gone dark.
      Would NOT recommend.

    When removing something, FIRST remove NEGATIVE, then POSITIVE. When connecting back together. FIRST POSITIVE and then NEGATIVE! You won't want the negative of the battery attached when you attach the positive. If your wrench shorts out on any metal, you'll have a short circuit. However if Negative is off, then it's safe to work with the Positive terminal, and then when you attach the negative.....even if the wrench touches the body while you're attaching it, there wont be an issue.

    • @CfTesla
      @CfTesla  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I am assuming you are referring to my attaching the ground before connecting it to the battery? Yea that is good advice. If it wasn't obvious I am no expert at this sort of thing. It's more of a...if I can stumbly my way through this stuff anyone can.

    • @markpirola8152
      @markpirola8152 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The advice is good on the order… but think safely first. When you tighten the Battery terminal red wire .. this is the spot you need to take lots of care with any tool to avoid a short. Consider gently tightening that battery connection… a loose wire from vibrations over time is not desirable.

    I noticed that the cover you removed from above the HEPA filter was missing a white clip on the side, it would be the driver side of the panel. Is it used or did the clip come off and was still on the car? But this seems like a really good product to prevent bending the aluminum hood, even though it's a bit expensive. It's way easier to install and in my opinion better than a full auto frunk because it's less complicated. And it's something the car should come with from the factory.
    The product link doesn't work. I was able to find their web page but the product page shows it's $130 yet when you put it in the cart it's $169.99 (before your code). So I'm a bit confused why they are showing the $130 price.

    WARNING FOR MODEL 3 OWNERS:
    This part is shipped with no instructions, nor could I find anybody anywhere (including the suppliers website) that shows how it gets installed on the Model 3; COMPLETELY DIFFERENT MECHANISM THAN THE Y)
    I lost 4 hours of my life trying to figure it out - couldn’t get it to install, it’s going back on Monday.
    Terribly lazy by the mfg. to market and sell such an item with NO instructions!!!

      Were you able to get it returned? I'm having issues with mine due to the positive battery connection being connetion not working with the terminal in the M3.

    This should be a standard feature. I've never liked the fragile nature of the frunk when being closed.

    I installed the Hansshow power frunk before and used it for few months, of coz I love the concept but one time it cannot open due to something wrong with the motor. It locks the latch and the frunk cannot be opened so far. It takes me quite few hours to open it again which turns me to uninstall the whole stuff at once. This gadget is really good but you don't know when the motor latch will not be working and there is no way to open frunk easily.....

      That would suck!!!! What did Hansshow do about it?

      @@CfTesla they cannot do anything. So I used a small long curved tool to un-latch the hook by luck....so I don't believe such 3rd party frunk motor anymore

      This is my biggest fear of these solutions. If it fails, you are screwed. I can't even start to think how mad I would be not having any type of access to the frunk. Not that I use it that often anyway because of how challenging it is to close.

      @@russmazzaro But motor failures aren't very common because they are simple devices. Think about how many times the motor controlling your windows is cycled and I have never had one of those motors fail. Nor have I had a garbage disposal motor fail in decades and I use mine numerous times a day.

    Tlyard soft close frunk on a 2019 Model 3 sucks. Not worth the money. Still have to push down on the hood while it latches and pulls close.
    Tlyard soft close frunk on 2023 Model Y is awesome.
