Ironically I got my Model Y in July and never understood all the complaints about FSD. Didn’t realize it just took a leap forward in the past year. I’m mid-60’s and driving doesn’t thrill me anymore so I’ve used FSD 99.9% of all my miles. The wife doesn’t like it as much but I’m an old test pilot and still have good reflexes. I’ve driven it up 95 to NE Philly half a dozen times using FSD.
2024 Model 3, still on a free trial of FSD but it is expiring in January. Once you start trusting your FSD, it becomes a joy to use. This is my first Tesla and it is the best car I have ever driven bar none.

Just used FSD 12.5.4.2 after a small amount of snow and slush covered the roads in Minnesota. Its was unusable. After the third critical intervention I stopped using it on my trip to Minneapolis and back. Did I not slow down soon enough to avoid rear ending another car stopped at stop light. While driving it was tailgating with an interval one about one car length. During this type of weather the interval should be extended at least 3-4 car lengths if not more to avoid rear ending another collisions. Taking a right turn onto highway 10, it accelerated so fast that it started to spin out half way through the turn. The road was not ice but slush and snow on the road. FSD is definitely not ready for prime time in snow and ice conditions. We love the car and the mission of Tesla but FSD is still dangerous in winter weather.
We bought FSD with our first Tesla. It drives all our miles. With 12.5.6.3 I just sit in the seat and watch it drive with hands in my lap. I just completed the one-month FSD free trial and found that the car (Model Y) has some trouble with two right-turn lanes or two left-turn lanes. The car couldn't decide what lane to drive into. I also found that when I got close to home and there is a left-turn lane at the end of a cul-de-sac, the car didn't want to start the turn in the left-turn lane. Finally, when I was traveling on a freeway (101) the car would suddenly slow down at the same spot, going from about 68mph to about 60mph. The guy behind me must be cussing me out when there is no one in front of me.

I tested the FSD feature in my Model Y when I purchased it. Overall, I’m impressed that my car can drive itself. However, I did notice a few instances during FSD where it didn’t behave as expected. 1. One time, it started turning right on a red light with a sign that clearly stated “No turn on red.” 2. All the time, it didn’t stop at a red light when entering a highway ramp. 3. Finally, it late switched lanes from the second-to-last right lane before turning right. I hope these issues have been resolved in the upcoming v13 update. I’m eager to test it out and see if the driving experience has improved.
I have fsd, prefer driving myself, but do use FSD sometimes. I disengage and reenage at city intersections because it tends to illegally change lanes right in the intersection. Also on the highway when another driver indicates to move into my lane, the car doesn't give way and actually increases speed at that point. Even in "Hurry" mode that is not "Hurry" but "Asshole" mode. The latest update still mistaking "Hurry" FSD setting for "Asshole" FSD setting.
I have had great experiences using FSD. In some ways it drives better than I do. When I am not sure which lanes to take when the navigator is not clear and the road signs are confusing, FSD get it right every time.
I use a Black Unicorn Beetle case on my Galaxy S21+! My son just got his driver's license and will be making his first 5hr+ road trip a couple days before Christmas. We signed up and used the FSD Supervised on the way home from eating out the other night and it was nearly flawless. He plans to use it on his trip and I encourage its use, so pretty confident in it. I was hoping it would be the version 13 but still on 12.5. As Always, May God Bless you and yours! 😇
I hate FSD frequent changes lanes when it doesn't need to. There's a toggle in the Setup to enable Minimal lane change but it's per drive. I have to keep re-enabling it every time I use it.
I’m in my mid-70’s and LOVE my M3LR which I purchased in July’23. I use FSD al least 90% of the time and love it. What I enjoy most are all the Updates and the new features. How many car’s manufacturers offer that?
We’ve got a 2021 Model Y with hardware 3 and I’m not totally confident that they’ll be able to get FSD to work on the older Teslas. But at the same time I won’t be shocked if they figure it out. The free FSD trial last spring was kind of a cool novelty that actually worked pretty well and was useful on our trip to Colorado, even with the nag. The most recent free trial FSD was definitely better but not good enough to pay $100/month.
Clear Encased brand, magnetic case for iPhone 14 with belt clip. Full self drive 12.5.6.4 keeps 5-6 car lengths on freeway. Fits back into right lane for off ramps. Does not pass big trucks when turn signal flashing. Only need to take over occasionally.

I have noticed the same huge improvement in FSD from the free month last year to the free month this year. I have driven FSD on both HW 3.5 on my son’s car and HW4 on mine in the past month. The HW3.5 hesitated at times where the HW4 did not. My phone case is a transparent charcoal color.
I have a clear Spigen MagSafe phone case on my iPhone 14 Pro. On the Tesla charging pad it seems to heat up quite a bit. Another way to get FSD is with referral credits.
FSD is great, in a month usage I has to intervene rather fast for lack of the FSD to stop for a non-moving vehicle in front, one at stop light the other at a very slowly moving vehicle on a freeway. I also notice that in freeway exiting or curves the FSD does not slow down enough or at all creating a rather uncomfortable situation. Staying at speed limits is a non-existent choice in the new FSD, it was in the previous version. I do miss that .
I've been driving since 1992. From that time til now, the OCD quintessential driver that I am totally and completely rejects the idea of the car doing that for me. I've never really understood how people are so afraid to drive that most don't know how awesome actually is driving themselves... I drive myself because I enjoy it. I don't care if it's free, as I wouldn't even consider another Tesla in the future if somehow they make it a standard thing. BTW, the "yoke" steering is a deal killer for me as well.
Please take 13 on the LA freeways to see how it does on the exits and on ramps. I recently used the latest version of 12 and it had major issues on navigating in a timely manner to the proper lanes to merge onto the right freeway and it’s failed to get to the right lanes to exit from the freeway, While on the freeway south of LA navigate to the International Hotel on Wilshire blvd, it was terrible on the freeway and off the freeway it takes you to the back of the hotel and claims you are at your destination. Hopefully 13 does a better job please test it out for your viewers.thanks
FSD spooked me when I had my S in for repair. Mine is a 2013 S without any self anything. And to top it off, the loaner screen went black. Seemed great in stop and go traffic. I have an iPhone 16 Pro with the Starfruit color case.
I just got my Model 3 and tried the FSD yesterday to take me home from the grocery store. It drove very well but it took a really weird route and I had to intervene or I probably would have wound up in DC.
Have useful self driving many times and it has improved a great deal. I use the Tesla for rideshare and will generally use it for rides over 10 minutes. My trouble areas are ones that we all would have around construction zones and heavy pedestrian traffic. But I can definitely see the future. I’m with you. I’d use it on a long trip on a one off subscription. It is very impressive. I have an older iPhone and use a basic case with a mag attachment on the back and my phone always mounted near the screen. Love your videos keep up the good work.

my second model 3. absolutely love the teslas. The only car Ill ever buy until i die. I think I will spend the extra money and get a plaid or X model next. My phone case is black cant remember the name..
Good video like always , No trial FSD yet in Canada, I cant wait to try v13 :), I like seeing the progression of fsd during those free trial months, my phone case is a spigen black :)
Mous Limitless 5.0. FSD does a good job in decent weather. In Michigan that's only 2/3 of the year. I think the camera only route Tesla is taking, is going to problematic.
I just got my Model Y 2025 delivered and they offered me three months of free FSD and when I went to pick it up the FSD doesn't work because it has software 12.3.6, that's what they told me when I returned to the dealer and that I have to wait for it to update. I just check it every time I can and it always tells me that it's updated. What can I do? I'm so frustrated because that was actually what encouraged me to buy it and they sold me lies.
Software is fixable by user not a dealer fault. But mine has to be calibrated for camera means manual drive for a while that is kind of dealer fault. In addition I had a low coolant upon delivery that’s very upsetting of course they fixed it free of charge but no incentives only bad luck and extra wait. Tesla isn’t a good quality vehicle in my eyes.
I got a 2025 y earlier this month and I’m still waiting on the holiday software update and fsd 13. I’m hoping I’ll just get both together. I saw on another TH-camrs video. I won’t name it, and honestly I don’t remember the name, but basically they said they rolled out the update to HW3 first and will be rolling it out to HW4 after. Feels backwards but I guess it makes sense from a FIFO aspect. Maybe it’s a data thing, but it seems like they should just be able to push the updates to everyone at one time.
You have to drive a certain number of miles before it self calibrates and enables…. it works in your software system just need to drive a few miles to train it to your car.
I love the FSD feature. I also only use it for long drives or if I’m not in a hurry. I watched video till end and I have a light pink phone cover from Apple 😊
Thanks for the video. I have the Mous case on my iPhone 14 Pro Max. Unfortunately, it does not work on the Model Y charging pad, so I'm looking for a new case.
I have a Spigen case for my Galaxy 24 Plus. Just got my model S and it upgraded to FSD 12.5 within about a week of having it, so don't have much experience with the older version. I have to say, I feel pretty safe while using it. Haven't had any issues except that it won't pull into my driveway for some reason.
I used FSD to drive over the Chesapeake Bay bridge around May this year while on free first month trial in a 2024 Model Y. Unfortunately as soon as I switched it on, the car indicated and suddenly changed lane into A CLOSED lane. The closed lane had barriers down and I had to take over immediately. This was particularly jarring because I have vertigo and particularly long high bridges like the Chesapeake are stressful. Not a good experience. I had another trial a month ago and felt there were some more natural lane changes and other improvements. I also used the summon in a restaurant parking lot and that was a good experience. Im not sure I'd trust always, particularly when the car is out of line of sight in a dark lot. I use a black Tech 21 phone case. Since large please ;)
I bought a generic cheap clear phone case. I put different color inserts in it, that I made myself, so that I would have the ability to “change it up” at will.
By the way, my Android phone has a black Otter Box case. It's being a solid, matt black color gives me an excuse for excessively leaving it in shopping carts and never being able to find it in low level lighting of all sorts. I'm going to put stripes of bright yellow tape on it to see if that helps. It may just be a case of senior citizen syndrome.
Been following you for quite a while now. Thanks for the info. Watched it all. (BTW my iPhone has a black charge thru case) Got my Tesla a week ago thanks to you. Absolutely no regrets
I LOVE FSD, use it on almost every drive. Even when I don't set a destination, I click in FSD. Can't wait for v13. I did get one month free FSD, but they just charged me for this month's renewal. I am also still waiting for the Holiday update (2024 MYAWD) - bummer for both! I have a black Apple case.
Want to know why my m3s fsd take off from stops is so harsh. It’s very intense and fast. Is there a setting to change this? I use a castify phone case with an abstract photo of my cat on it lol
I’ve tried FSD when Tesla offers it for free and I like it. Like you, I work from home so not worth it for me to purchase. My phone case is black and from Bandolier.
Stayed to the end. I have a clear Spigen MagSafe case on my iPhone 15 Pro Max. I have had a couple of 30-day FSD trials since buying my ‘24 Model 3 LR AWD last June. It’s impressive, but still has a ways to go. There were several times where my car would definitely have been damaged if I hadn’t intervened - due to things like not slowing down when going over a very rough RR crossing or speed hump… or not recognizing debris or potholes in the road, etc. I will be interesting to see him much things improve with v13. Even if it’s great, I work from home half of the time, so It’s not worth it to me to pay for FSD since the car just sits unused so much of the time. Autopilot does 95% of what I need. I can handle making my own lane changes, turns and stops.
I wanted to use smart summon on a rainy day, which is really the only real reason to use it. The car told me that the cameras were impaired and it wouldn't allow me to do it. So I still ended up getting wet and this was the most worthless feature ever lol
FSD is an amazing experience. I still have reservation for its safety but outside of minor mishaps, I'm pretty sold on the whole idea of machine driving for me. I'm rocking a case from Amazon, clear Yetagso iphone case with magsafe for iphone 13 pro max.

I did the Demo and tried FSD. Getting a MY on the 26th. I like the Rokform magnetic case.
I have a birthday suit edition phone case. Super helpful video thanks I learned stuff. 🎉I just got my tesla S p90d and it's so much more than I expected
I use a purple Torras case for my S24U. May be upgrading to a Model S soon for the unlimited supercharging, we'll see.
Commenting for the Tesla t-shirt you mentioned. Phone has a blue Latercase. I've watched several of your Tesla videos and found them very helpful. Thanks!
How do you like yoke steering?
Love it!
@@RobertRosenfeld1 Is it better than a regular steering wheel? IF so, why? ALSO - please further explain the charger you advertise in this video. STORY: SOMEONE I KNOW has some visual problems that you can't tell by looking at them, but they are buying a 2025 Tesla BECAUSE of FSD, because FSD sees better than they do!
I stayed until the end, I have a Blue Model 3 named Stitch so my phone case is just a amazon purchased phone case with stitch painted on it. Love your content!
How do I see if I have hardware 3 or 4. I have 2023 Y
You do know that TH-cam is available outside the US, right?!
There's another free trial?
Please take 13 on the LA freeways to see how it does on the exits and on ramps. I recently used the latest version of 12 and it had major issues on navigating in a timely manner to the proper lanes to merge onto the right freeway and it’s failed to get to the right lanes to exit from the freeway,
While on the freeway south of LA navigate to the International Hotel on Wilshire blvd, it was terrible on the freeway and off the freeway it takes you to the back of the hotel and claims you are at your destination. Hopefully 13 does a better job please test it out for your viewers.thanks
Can you explain the fast charger again. I have the adapter already. But not sure how this one will help me with charging.
It won't, it was a ad blip...
It drove very well but it took a really weird route and I had to intervene or I probably would have wound up in DC.
good video/Red Phone case with a camera protective slide on it
Have useful self driving many times and it has improved a great deal.
Black case.
Nice fsd overview. Im doing the monthly and been using fsd everyday.
Thank you for the information! Phone case is a clear MagSafe phone case
Thank you this is a great video! I have a Miracase that works on the charging pad. I have anew Model 3 and love it! Also thank for the technet recommendation!
Still waiting for the v. 13 update on FSD (on my 2024 Model 3 Performance). 😕
Me too…’24 Model Y
I wish the car would go wide in your lane when near trucks on a freeway here in Australia. Its quite scary sometimes 😢
Great video. I used FSD for a couple months when I first got the car, and realized it wasn’t worth the $100 per month. I use a Latercase made from Kevlar. 👍
I just got the model 3 highland and love it! My phone case is a pitaka carbon fiber color
Got model 3 2024 a few months ago and trying out the FSD now
my second model 3. absolutely love the teslas. The only car Ill ever buy until i die. I think I will spend the extra money and get a plaid or X model next. My phone case is black cant remember the name..
I do not drink, but what if somebody got drunk. Can they sit in the passenger side and will a car take you to your destination.
No, not currently. System still needs to be actively supervised.
I wonder if I have that on my 2024 X?
Yes! You should check
Good video like always , No trial FSD yet in Canada, I cant wait to try v13 :), I like seeing the progression of fsd during those free trial months, my phone case is a spigen black :)
Im from quebec my free trial ended last week , they gave 2 months free
Mous Limitless 5.0. FSD does a good job in decent weather. In Michigan that's only 2/3 of the year. I think the camera only route Tesla is taking, is going to problematic.
Once spend 8,000 for FSD right ? Not Basic FSD ...
No deals for Tesla in Canada rates over 6.5%
Black pelican case. Great video!
FSD with less supervision! I hate that it keeps warning me when I start looking more at the screen. Clear phone case!!!
I use an OTTERBOX
I use a Spigen case on my Flip 6. Stayed till the end!
just got my model y and these tips are amazing. i use a black simple case on my one plus pro 7
I love the FSD feature. I also only use it for long drives or if I’m not in a hurry. I watched video till end and I have a light pink phone cover from Apple 😊
FSD…scary & fun…Rokform case for iPhone13 ProMax…didn’t know about self park, thank you✌️
Thanks for the video. I have the Mous case on my iPhone 14 Pro Max. Unfortunately, it does not work on the Model Y charging pad, so I'm looking for a new case.
You get all of the features that come with the package you already paid for absolutely free!! 🤪
Can you share which instrument screen you have on the dash? it does not look like any of the hannshow I have seen. it looks different.
Just ordered mines this past week (Model Y). I switch out my cases but right now I have a bronze color one that I got off of Amazon.
(BTW my iPhone has a black charge thru case)
Got my Tesla a week ago thanks to you.
Water to the end
I’ve tried FSD when Tesla offers it for free and I like it. Like you, I work from home so not worth it for me to purchase. My phone case is black and from Bandolier.
Have a 2018 Model 3, I assume FSD will probably not work with this car. Have a black phone case.
Peak Design is the case I use. Great video. Thanks
FSD is an amazing experience. I still have reservation for its safety but outside of minor mishaps, I'm pretty sold on the whole idea of machine driving for me. I'm rocking a case from Amazon, clear Yetagso iphone case with magsafe for iphone 13 pro max.
I just got my new tesla model Y 5 days ago. Software version is V12.3.6,I don't know when I'll be able to get a newer version,Like V12.5
It will take a couple of weeks to get onto a regular branch of software, but the next update should bring you in line
I use Spigen slim case on ultra 23
