    The Phantom is also targeted at another audience - the survivalist/hunter. It's shorter at 56". Making it easier to use in the wild. And the material is more durable when there may be no replacements available. This audience do not generally show up in archery clubs. Unless your archery club added a "survivalist" bow hunting course to attract this audience. Probably for the off seasons.

    Love mine. Of all my bows it's one of my favorites. Because I shoot purely instinctive, almost a snapshot , and it has virtually no charictor, just a basic functional tool. When I start my shot cycle it and the arrow almost cease to exist. It allows me to totally focus on my mark. Almost like using a hammer or axe. Not very romantic, but it gets the job done.

    From watching this review, the phantom seems to me like what would be the "standard issue bow" for military personnel in an alternate universe in which military forces still used bows in the 21st century

    I had one from Junxing and I completely agree. Shoots alright for the money, a real beater-bow. Perfect for the back yard impulse buyers, but little more.. Loudest bow I've used and stacks excessively after 28", I got over 45lb at 31" with 35lb limbs.
    The Black Hunter, also from Junxing, is really an awesome bow and much better value for what you get. Very smooth draw all the way to 31 and a real pleasure to shoot.

      31" is too much for a 56" bow. I think 29" draw length should be max for phantom or same length bow. Over 29", it becomes really uncomfortable to use.

    • @mrnice752
      @mrnice752 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@greenhoodedvigilante458 I draw over 32" with my 54" "horse bow" and it shoots fantastic. But yes, the phantom is horrible past 28" which is why I sold it on.

      @@mrnice752 Horse bow is very different. It doesn't have 15 or 17" rigid riser like recurve. Comparing to same length of horse bow and recurve, horse bow has longer limbs. Also, thumb grip is more comfortable on shorter bows.

    • @mrnice752
      @mrnice752 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@greenhoodedvigilante458 I know this. You said 31" is too much for a 56" bow. What about the Border Bows Ghillie Dhu Recurve? 52", 15" riser and can draw 31". A bow can be designed to draw any length. This bow, "phantom" stacks excessively after 28". What is your point?

    • @greenhoodedvigilante458
      @greenhoodedvigilante458 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mrnice752 I didn’t say you can't use a shorter bow. But there are reasons longer bow is oftem recommended for longer draw length. Also, it depends on the bow. Someone with 31" draw length normally uses longer bows.

    I think that its like a "bare bones bow" gives it more strategic value. Its a pretty bow and shoots well. I think even the warriors of ancient times who practicticed Ninpo Kyujitsu would have been very pleased to use these Phantom bows because they are stealthy for nightime ops, accurate with the right training, light weight, and can take a beating without getting worried about its condition, good for training and combat.... Its an all in one bow. Lastly it can be easily replaced.

    • @NUSensei
      @NUSensei  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      With feathers, it's less important - the feathers will flex and won't deflect as much. If you're shooting target, you'll probably want to orientate the fletchings for the least deviation, but for what I'm doing here, it doesn't matter. In most cases, arrows will have an odd-coloured fletching to indicate the index vane.

    I just wish I could settle on my first bow, indecision stinks. It also stinks that Bosen stopped making the 25" Horn riser. I've been aiming for a 66" bow overall (pun intended), and at 6' I like a longer riser/limb combo. And the look of that setup was phenomenal. Oh well, I'm nothing if not patient. I've been itching to get back to archery for almost two decades! Lol. Thanks Sensei.

    • @JesseCohen
      @JesseCohen 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      As a side note, a thought just occurred. There are bow weight training devices out there that cost more than this bow. So then, would this be better classified as a good "training bow" at its lightest weight, say 20 lbs? I ask because I know at some point some family members will also want to try archery, and this may be a good option to pass along to them. I had hoped to start with a ILF system, in the Target Shooting style (as opposed to strict Trad or Hunting), but I'm struggling to decide on one that gives a good return for money in value for money. Especially as a beginner with little muscular conditioning. Feel free to chime in with your thoughts. Anyone?

    • @mrnice752
      @mrnice752 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Is that for target archery? At 6' I'd think at least a 68" would suit you better. If you make a search for Lucas Gao on FB and give him a message I'm sure you can still get the 25" Horn riser.

    • @JesseCohen
      @JesseCohen 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mr Nice A minor clarification is in order, and good catch. 66" minimum is what I've been looking at based on sizing guides, and local expert recommendations. Though Sensei's vid about bow size and stacking did give me pause. So I am also looking at a 17" riser with longer or xl limbs. FB isn't really a option for me, but I do appreciate the suggestion (I'll keep it for future reference). Ali Express advertises both as available (17 and 25), but I don't really trust a 75% approved seller on a site I've never used, not for that amount of money. Thanks again!

      @mrnice752 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@majorfailure8294 Border Archery have the long draw lengths covered. I would suggest going for a 19" riser at 30"+ draw length or you will get pretty bad string pinch.
      @Jesse Cohen Lucas Gao works at Bosen, it's usually better to deal direct with the manufacturer than Chinese resellers. That way you know exactly what you're getting and a proper warranty, a lot of the shops on Ali don't know what they are selling.. That being said, if you know what you are looking for then you can get some great deals on Ali. Best of luck, always nice to see people joining/rejoining the sport!

      Why did you subscribe anyway? He mentioned the reason many time. In any bow review, showing the bow is most important than showing grouping or target. Also for an archery tutorial, showing archers form and shooting is more important than showing off target.

      The bow doesn't make the group, your logic is flawed. He literally said in the video he is using arrows spined for a 45lb with these 35lb limbs.. What are you expecting to learn from seeing his group size? Maybe you shouldn't be subscribed if you don't even do archery.

      Make a video yourself and how you want them to be made then. Everyone's channel is different and you cant please everyone.

      Gary, do you use regular tampons or max absorption?
