    This was just what I was looking for. I want to do the trims and some other details on my Glooming Lords as a glowing, radioactive feel, and this is perfect

    I'm honestly surprised that Tesseract Glow glows at all, given that GW isn't shy of overhyping their paints, yet never marketed it as being fluorescent.

      I had recently used it in a tutorial and was surprised at how bright it was on top of Ceramite White. It glows and looks great on models. But next to actual fluorescent paints it isn't as bright... I was surprised.

    Question to viewers, how often do you display/ play with models under UV light? Do you think fluorescent paint are practical to use? I know that you can make a lot of interesting effects with it. :-)

    I've been super happy with the fluorescent FW acrylic inks set from Daler Rowney, FWIW. Also have most of the Vallejo paints but always found them pretty difficult to work with due to the weird sort of "rubbery" consistency they seem to have for whatever reason.

    • @WayoftheBrush
      @WayoftheBrush  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You might be seeing the consistency difference in water based acrylics and inks. Having said that the Vallejo fluorescent paints do have a "rubbery" kind of finish.

    Two Raven Studios did a thorough comparison of several brands of fluo paints in many colors, although he didn't have the Golden paints, and pretty much all brands across nearly all colors were bested by the Greenstuffworld ones, at least in pure glowiness and vibrancy. He got the same takeaway as you with respect to the Citadel one, it's decidedly meh compared to fluo paints even though it IS fluorescent.
    The general takeaway for me is that *ANY* fluo will be better than Tesseract Glow, both with and without a blacklight. I do love my fluo paints :D

    • @WayoftheBrush

      it is made for airbrush and markers. It is very thin body paint, more like ink. Golden High Flow paint are really fun for mini painting. Can be used by airbrush or bristle brush.
      My only caution is that they dry semi gloss. So if you prefer a matte finish you may want to pick up matte medium.

      maybe Vallejo 70.909 Vermilion or Vallejo 70.908 Carmine Red. Those may be closer to what you are looking for. I will assume you want more of a hot rod (sports car) red? I think those might be more of what you are looking for... Hope that Helps.

    • @koushiro86
      @koushiro86 ปีที่แล้ว

      @WayoftheBrush I'm customizing a nerf blaster, doing some acrylics (heard some good things about water based but open to whatever works), brand tbd, over black spray primer (some metallic shades for larger areas and bright colors for highlighting details like indicator lights, glowing protrusions, warning sign or what have you). I've heard to layer white between primer and brights but other than that hard to figure out what will stay put in very small areas and not flow everywhere while still looking vibrant enough.

    • @WayoftheBrush
      @WayoftheBrush  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@koushiro86If it is for a Nerf blaster and it will be handled you may want a more robust paint like enamel or acrylic. I would recommend Tamiya paints (acrylic) or SpazStix paint. Spaazstix has some color shifting and metallics. At any rate I suspect those would work out for you as they are more durable.

    • @WayoftheBrush

      sometimes colours can be "off" between batches of paint. Believe it or not it happens quite a bit for many, if not all of the major paint companies.

      They do cost more but you get more. Citadel (12ml) and Vallejo (17ml) might cost less when looking at just the price tag compared to Golden High Flow (30ml). Citadel costs me $5.40 CAN versus $8.99 CAN GHF for over twice the amount of paint. But to each his/her own... I'm not going to tell someone how to spend their money.
