probably the easiest to follow paint guide for glow effects i've found so far today
1:34 Not particularly important, but I find it interesting that so many people invert these concepts or words. Heard painters make the same mistake in several videos now. Thin paints that settle in recesses (like inks) are literally the opposite of viscous; in fact, their low viscosity is what makes them behave the way they do. We could say that they're thin, watery, runny, etc. but they're not particularly viscous.
Very useful guide though! Using inks instead of thin acrylic paint to put white in recesses is the way to go--makes it less likely for the white to dry in a clumpy, irregular way.
The new Vallejo range looks great, can't wait to try it
As someone who typically has been using the Golden High Flow Fluorescent line for a few years now, I'll definitely be looking into giving these a shot. The magenta and violet look amazing!
Oh wow! Those new vallejo colors are nice!
Right!?
But of a missed opportunity in not throwing these guys under a black light for full effect. Very easy method for glow effects, thanks for the vid!!
Thank you so much for this! I like the simple explanation and you make it look so easy! Appreciate it!
Great job!!! Look forward to seeing more
i love seeing that mezgike dredge mini.
!!!! and your resultsd are fabulous
Beautiful work brother.
These look gorgeous 😍 I bought a few fluorescent inks weeks ago but haven't tried them yet. Definitely going to use your technique when i get around to it.
fantastic work and realy useful
Sweet Jesus I needed this tuto so bad, thanks mate!! Amazing technique
Thanks for making this. I once stumbled onto your brain bug short and then couldn't find it. I have a HUGE army of Harlequins and Corsairs I need to redo in thermonuclear glowing fluorescent eye pain. I've got my old fluo, as well as FW Fluo inks, liquitex , vallejo and Green Stuff World's offerings. Each is a little different. And then there's Culture Hustle. Expensive but SOOO worth it. Now to build a proper lighting set up and copy the crap out of your tutorial!
just found this out of no where but it looks pretty cool
Much appreciated!
Greet tutorial. Thanks a lot !
Gorgeous! Your OSL is on point, might have to get me some of these paints... =P
great video! pls make more
WHERE DID YOU GET THOSE DIVING HELM THEMED MARINE HEADS I'VE BEEN TRYING TO START A OCEAN THEMED DEATH GUARD AND THAT'S THE ONE THING THAT HAS BEEN HOLDING IT BACK!!!?!?!?
3d printer. Maybe there's some stls on Etsy or something. I did that for cowboy hats for a friend's ad mech
Death guard no no legally distinct dredge marines
Myminifactory its from a guy called Mezgike, they are called dredge marines.
@@thomasgrinde2971 Nono no. Do you hear that? it's the scurrying of games workshop
I have a link to a bunch of dg files that have an underwater theme if you want them?
Cool tutorial.
awesome
amazing
Nice!!... subbed👍
Use water to pre wet where you want the white to go on your second go
Nice video and easy too follow, one question - what ratio paint / thinner do you use when you use fluorpaint in the airbrush ?
For the Vellejo Fluro Colour I generally dont add any thinner and just use it straight from the bottle!
Beeeautiful.
What is the blue you used for the coils on the dread?
Do these work like regular black light paints if so I might get some to give my minis a blacklight glow especially if I get a death tyrant
oh that plasma glow is beautiful, will have to do this with my knight celestant, what white ink did you use though?
Looks like Liquitex
That space marine is awesome. What faction is that?
Tutorial with brush plz
What make is your airbrush plz? Nice paint jobs.
How did you make it look so red?Miine looks pink when I use it
Hi! Thanks for this! Is it possible to mix in or do a top coat of a uv paint so that it can also glow in the dark under uv lights? Any tips if anyone has tried this?
Awesome! With the fluo paints do you thin them with airbursh thinner?
No thinning used with these :) you can definitely still thin them if you want to spray at a lower psi, just keep in mind it'll take more coats for full opacity
Do we have to shake that white acrylic ink a lot? I ordered the same one being used in the tutorial and I shook it like hell, but it’s still transparent and liquid like.
In the shot where you’re painting it onto the black primed plasma coil yours looks solid at 01:50
Mine is opaque as hell
Have you tried to use these to make red hot molden metal?
Hey bro, where did you get your airbrush ?
Nice! What flou were you using before? I've heard GSW and Pro Acryl have good ones.
Previously I was using the vellejo mecha colour line. Good colours but poor coverage
I’m curious, what is actually different about these paints? Could you get the same results from mixing acrylic inks, or is there som additive that makes the these paints glow?
They glow in UV light
Besides glowing under UV light, fluorescent paints are extremely saturated while having very poor coverage. This sucks if you're trying to paint something a solid fluorescent color, but is great for a tinting effect like this. If you think about it, the glow effect itself is painted on entirely in white. The fluorescent paint is just tinting that to be whatever color you want. It's simply super saturated translucent paint.
Wow dude, thats so kool, you sound Aussie?
Did you thin them at all or paint them straight?
Straight
@@PaintByAz Cheers
Maybe a dumb question, but what do you mean by a "white ink"?
Liquitex bold titanium white ink. It's acrylic ink used to help make fluorescent paint pop.
What paint are you using
New vallejo game color fluorescent range
FYI being very viscous means thick.
Not thin.
DAMN! Those are so sexy!!! Good on you, mate!
I would have greatly appreciated examples of how to get those same effects using a brush
He literally says 4 times that you can replicate it also with thin layers of paint by brush
You didn't say how to do the opposite oarts, from colornto white, like the bottom tentacles. Which white ink you use and how that hell can you use the spray gun so small and accurate?! I can only do big models :(
