It's probably the best example of a band taking someone else's song and making it their own. It's like they got up one morning and said, 'In your face, Hendrix.'" Overkill's take on Frankenstein is in the discussion.
AGREED!!!! The guy who made this must be a musician to get all the parts so tight, this is the best editing I have seen for a song with no real video. Great job @RimShotRock !!!!
Wow! Quite precious. I heard this on a Portuguese radio some fifteen (or more?) years ago, so... This is quite a jewel. Thank you. Greetings from Portugal.
I worked for slayer for 6 years i never remember them playing this live if they did i may have been drunk. Jeff Hanneman used to treat crew to alot of beer
They're perfect to do this song! So much dark atmosphere.. bands like Slayer (the slower songs) and Obituary make me feel like I'm creeping through a moonlit graveyard in the fog! Love it
God I love Slayer, soon underrated imo. Seen them many any times but I admit I only became after I saw them live in which they weren't the headliner, they are a band that when you see them live you can't help but like them.

i actually bought the soundtrack when it came out. I had to listen to this. my jaw dropped it was so friggin' heavy.....\m/\m/ still brings it after 30 years?
Dude great movie very under rated and never spoken of. But then again I can almost understand why it is never spoken of again. it must have left a bad taste in his mouth you could say lol
Lol, I clicked thinking "Whoa, I didn't know they made a video for this but I played a cover last year so I'm definitely going to click" 2 seconds in I realized you made this from other clips
The first time i heard this song was in 1987 on the radio station "105.5 KNAC" The best HEAVY-METAL station that had ever been for" METAL - HEADS," blows away klos insignificant little pathetic station.
nothing to compare each group with their style.....3:16 of hard fast good rock.....just remember without Iron Butterfly and the bands of the 60´s and 70´s would not exist hard rock.
Muy buen tema.. Pero si lo hubiesen tocado en vivo... En ese concierto hubiese sido genial... Pero no... Te quedó casi perfecto la mezcla... Grande slayer...
What no drum solo!!! Still a killer cover from the most aggressive Metal Band to the 60s greats Iron Butterfly. Shows just how much class Slayer had. 💀🦋
What most don't get is that in dark the light, in Light the dark. Metal was CREATED by the late Hippie generation. Jim Morrison is as dark as it gets and so were Iron Butterfly. From the same year 1968 came Led Zeppelin and 'Born to be Wild' and guitar doesn't get heavier than Hendrix's 'Voodoo Chiid'. And Ozzy like Ringo loves his 'Peace and Love'. 'War Pigs' and 'Greenleaf' could be from San Francisco like 'Masters of War' or Detroits Iggy and the Stooges 'Search and destroy'. All heavier than KISS could even dream of! Most metal is light weight 'drama' music, IMHO!
How many agree??? One of the GREATEST COVERS EVER!!!!
Agreed
Totally concur
I don think slayer could make a bad cover if they tried!!!!!! I love everything about slayer🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘😎😎😎👌😂🤣😂😂
Hahahaha fuck no. This fucking sucks man like fucking hard.
Total shit.
Flawless editing job. Can't believe how many people don't realize Slayer never played this live
True! This is a mash up of editing video clips to make it appear that they're playing this song live. It's so freakin' obvious that they're not.
I don't always listen to In A Gadda Da Vida, but when I do, so do the neighbors.
+mac c I guess you are the most interesting man after all !!!!

This is quite simply the best metal cover ever.

Ok, I may have exaggerated a little - Diamonds & Rust and Green Manalishi by Judas Priest are equally great or even better.
That's one kick-ass cover of a kick-ass song!
By a kick ass band
Yes
You ladies... are out of your tiny little minds...
Iron Butterfly sung it first
No matter how many times I listen to this it still rocks!!! Awesome 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Esta banda será por siempre una de las más importantes y poderosas del rock and roll, que energía, que pasión, que impetu🤘
Slayer disliked this, but who wants a 17 minute version? I do.
Tom Araya is an always will be Icon
I think that was ingenious splicing together the song with their onstage appearance.

Best cover of all cover songs!
If you like this as much as I do, check out their cover of born to be wild. Killer!

I fuckin love Children of Bodom's cover of Aces High, makes me want to fuck something up or drive really fast
They gotcha covered in other words?
Meh
Anyone expecting melodic vocals and a psychedelic keyboard section obviously do not understand Slayer.
There's a psychedelic keyboard section and alternate solo in this rare Season's in the Abyss promo though!
I've seen slayer 4 times and not once did they play this epic cover.
They never played this song live, this video was edited to make it appear that it's live.
@@slayer5813 yes I can see that.
I wanna meet the people who can say “ I moshed to In A Gadda Da Vida at a slayer show”
You just met one! I've probably moshed to almost every one of their songs. I've seen them live 30+ times.
I did🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
I did...twice! Both times was at the International Ballroom in Atlanta.
Uh they never played it live

So sad we lost Jeff Hannamen this year
Its been that long already, sadly. When Jeff died, so did Slayer.

YOu know what would be awesome. If they covered 2112. I honestly think that would be the coolest thing ever.
Well Slayer can make anything sound Slayer even this one. Slayer could cover an Elvis song and it would still be bad ass lol.
