I remember going to capitol with my boss and good buddy. We both got the world painted blood CD. I still jam it to this day. It's a really solid album and first time hearing Slayer. I know all their stuff now lmao

I WAS THERE...outside and peeking through a hole in the fence desperate trying to see this band play. Slayer looked and sounded PHENOMENAL! There was also about 150 people outside in the street on Hawthorn Avenue MOSHING so hard that people went from having fun to getting violent, fighting, and injured. The police and an ambulance showed up about 5 minutes into this performance. I never saw a group of people change so fast.

There were people on the roofs of the buildings across the street watching and the whole street behind the lot was lined with people. It's one thing to go to a slayer show, but when you see enough people to fill the palladium turn out just to see them play 5 songs, that's pretty awesome. The producer is probably saying "ok great, get me a zoom shot of the guitar while he's doing the solo... zoom in... zoom in... oh neat! are those skulls on his guitar? keep zooming... what are those other things? are those lightning bolts? ahhhh shit! quick! cut to camera 2!!!!" hahaha
I was outside of this on Hawthorn Avenue desperately trying to maintain a visual on this performance watching through a quarter size hole in the green tarp covering the fence. There was about a hundred other people who were not able to get in with me and people were pissed. People starting moshing in the middle of the street and someone got hurt and cop cars showed up with an ambulance. All that I can tell you is that Slayer looked and sounded light years beyond what can be described verbally or in writing. Being there as they played live was pure euphoria.
I was there that night. The crowd was insane. The security for the JK Live show and local Police had a rough time keeping kids from climbing the fence around the parking lot where this stage is. During their soundcheck that day kids were throwing shit over the fences and screaming all day long. Fun Times indeed.

Saw them play late 80s at a small club called the Copa/Jazz in Springfield VA. Small venue but great for live music. They hit the stage at 100 mph and were doing a buck twenty by the end of their set. I was blown away at how tight they were, playing this kind of music. Amazing show, I’ll never forget it. RIP JEFF.

To me Dave is definitely the star of Slayer as Danny Carey is to Tool, of course all the other members shine in their own ways but Dave was definitely made to be a drummer. Singers mostly get all the attention and credit but in this case Dave is the man! Long live Slayer 💯🤘

Slayer may be classed as metal but their riffs are so punk I love it. One of the few bands where I see as many punks and metal heads when they play live. Seen this band so many times. Dave Lombardo is a genius. I remember when I first learned Angel of Death I thought I have now reached a milestone. Dave Lombardo may not be the fastest but still the best modern metal drummer by a country mile. Anyone who disagrees is obviously not a drummer. Double bass drums can bore so he mixes it with punk style single bass drum and he has the best fills of any thrash drummer. Only Nick Mensa came close. George Kollias is technically very impressive but lacks the Lombardo thunder.

To me Dave is definitely the star of Slayer as Danny Carey is to Tool, of course all the other members shine in their own ways but Dave was definitely made to be a drummer. Singers mostly get all the attention and credit but in this case Dave is the man! Long live Slayer 💯🤘

Slayer may be classed as metal but their riffs are so punk I love it. One of the few bands where I see as many punks and metal heads when they play live. Seen this band so many times. Dave Lombardo is a genius. I remember when I first learned Angel of Death I thought I have now reached a milestone. Dave Lombardo may not be the fastest but still the best modern metal drummer by a country mile. Anyone who disagrees is obviously not a drummer. Double bass drums can bore so he mixes it with punk style single bass drum and he has the best fills of any thrash drummer. Only Nick Mensa came close. George Kollias is technically very impressive but lacks the Lombardo thunder.
Dave still has the best hands in metal, period. Kollias is brilliant, but I still prefer Tim "The Missile" Yeung over "The Greek Freak".
Dirk Verbeuren, man. Guys like Dave are extreme drumming pioneers, but guys like George and Dirk are just beyond insane.

misfit Why does everybody forget about Charlie Benante. He's the most creative of the drummers in the big 4 imo and I think he's better than Dave.
