I’ve watched a lot of documentaries on fop and it truly is a horrible disease. They all have such a positive attitude. I think we can all learn something from her.

To be fair, I don't think those who are mentally broken down by it would agree to be on a documentary in the first place.
So I think people like Ashley Kurpiel are a minority. I for one certainly don't have the kind of strength she does.

What an incredible women! I use to be a PSS for a young women with FOP, she never let it stop her from doing anything and with such a positive outlook! She was the reason I continued on and got my CNA so I could better help people. There needs to be more research and efforts to find a cure for this debilitating disease. ❤️

This is so sad what a nightmare this poor woman must feel like she's in. At least she has a family that cares about her that in itself is very rare.

I worked with a lady whose daughter lived with this condition. I worked with her for years before she told me, she was ashamed, even though she went t school and lived independently with aid. It made me sad she was ashamed and not singing her praises from the roof.

I’m a guy that was depressed for ages. Let me tell you something based on experience:
People are depressed because they don’t know how to handle their own lives. Manage thoughts and focus In a positive matter + the essentials of health and you’ll be able to manage life. Anti depressants is just temporary and won’t do you too much good, because you don’t treat the root of the problem which always is in your head.
Tony Robbins once said that you can’t appreciate and feel negativity at the same time. Your focus is everything.
Stay calm. Learn to breath deeply and learn how to stop your thoughts in their tracks when you think negatively about things. Counter, change focus and live with a purpose of your choosing.
It’s all here guys... how not to be depressed. You have a choice to go on that journey and get to know yourself enough not to be depressed and hustle through the hardships, finding solutions and living a truly amazing life you might not ever were able to imagine... or you can stay depressed, find short term solutions such as anti depressants, or perhaps drugs, or perhaps food...
Live consciously guys. And enjoy it while it lasts.

I like that you can't appreciate and feel negative at the same time . I tried taking my life because I'm broken .. NO I WAS broken spirituality and mentally . I'm learning to love life mediation praying and finding blessings in everything. Thing with depression it's not that we don't know how to manage or lives it the fact We're used to that comfort it's easier to go to. We think we don't know how to do something but we do.. Idk guess I'm just reflexing on your comment . 💓

It really hurts watching videos on FOP, but it's good that she is being positive. It's good when people see the positives in situations that can make you go so low. Happiness and positivity is the main thing you should have in your life whatever you are going through.

It’s heartbreaking to watch this women lose her life slowly.
