Hey Garard, I am an Australian mechanic who was working in England which is how I found your channel. I recently came back to Australia and got done over by a cruze timing belt without the cam tools. Your videos have helped me many times and find it funny when I'm a bit stuck I find yours. Thank you I appreciate your efforts.
Thank you Ben, I really appreciate you taking the time to say those kinds words. I am delighted I have been able to help out fellow Techs including yourself along the way. It's easy to get stuck in this game and info sharing can help us all out in tricky times. Cheers Ben, happy fixing mate.
I’ve had the new headlights in my Ford F150 for maybe three months. It sucked to see the condensation after a snowstorm. I’ll definitely do this. Thanks for the video.😊
After a lot of research, found a only mechanic in the city who did the repair for $600 for both the lights, and also gave 1 year warranty. He informed he has repaired lots of lights with condensation issues for BMW 1 series. Finally, long wait ended up to be worth it.
Hey! Did what you said with a balloon blower and had to put a hose and worked like you said! I didn’t have a air compressor so I had to use what I had! The balloon buddy is called blows air and by having it on for 5 yo 10 minutes it started blowing hot air and that helped! I’ll try to send you a picture of my air blower! Sorry couldn’t attach a picture!
Got moisture issues in both of my headlights for BMW 1 series. Had a consultation with mechanic, who are recommending to change the headlights costs of $3000 for both the headlights. I will try this and see if this could save me some peny. Thanks a lot
Tobe honest if it's not a permanent solution from condensation or water entering the lens? By which this problem could happen time and time again!!! I would rather seek out either second hand unit or new depending on make and model? Ebay seems a better option, Anyways thanks for this informative stream thankyou!!👍🇬🇧
if you use compresed air when you clear headlight leave one of the bulbs out for a few days and leave the cap off make sure you take the bulb clip off so you dont lose it and it will clear as you drive.
I have a heatgun which I put it in the back of the headlight after taking out the cover and leave it there for like 10-15 min and worked very well, I came from a hot area to a colder one and just saw my headlight full of water...
I had to take the headlamp out of my nieces VW POLO. It was full of water levelled up tp one corner like u said and I took it off got the bulbs out. I poured the water out if it but I shoulda used the Hairdryer. I don't have an Air gun but I do have a WET/DRY VAC and it blows some air out if it. I think I will give it a proper go tomorrow night. Great video but it's probably best to buy new lights..
Hi Gerard my daughters car somehow it got a small crack on the lense & got alot of condensation thanks to your video i can sort out the condensation problem & seal the cracked bit thanks again👍👍
Looks like I’ll have to do the drilling you suggested. My 2020 Murano passenger side is the culprit. There are no bulbs to pull out and no breathers that I could find. I’m told to replace the assembly for a cost of approximately $1600.00. Truthfully, trying to find someone who could do this hack.
@@GerardBurkeBurkesGarage only checking because as you are obviously aware compressed air contains moisture by default and you wouldn’t want any extra on that job 😉
Cheers for the video, i have the issue with both headlights on an insignia has me heart broke, i dried them out with a hairdryer for the nct the other day but today there just as bad going to try the dessicant bags and see
On my Insignia I managed to get a small hose into the headlamp and used my wet/dry Vac to get as much moisture out first, then used a hair dryer for about 10 minutes, and so far so good, as Gerard said check the seals on the covers to the headlights.
What if you cant get into the lens? I have a vw golf mk7.5 headlights both high and low beam have projector lens and the DRLs and indicators are LED strip so no way to put a pipe into the headlight unit? Could anybody help? Thanks

How did you get on? I was told the same thing by my car yard, feel they are trying to screw us. Don't need new lights for a bit of condensation..
Its a fabric falsh...Also in left side

I'm facing the same issue with both of my car headlights I'll try your methods 😊

We drilled a tiny hole right in the lowest corner, then when you start driving the air clears it out .

Yeah If you've got
A cracked Lens
you might as well not try to suck the
H2O.... out😮
Haha. Been in the trade nearly 20 years and never seen nor heard of this. Very smart.

perfect, thanks for posting
Just what I was looking for, thanks so much! 👍
What if I don't have a vacuum? can I just use my hair dryer? Blow cold air in there and then hot air, switch back and forth?

Hair dryer was amazing when it happened to me.
do you have a water trap fitted to your air compressor?
All of the compressors I use have either one in line/in built with compressor or run a separate regulator and filter combo.

Thank you for the solution!!
Quick question, is it possible for condensation to make the headlights yellow/cloudy?
Idea- leave dipped lights on and suck out air as per here via full Beam light hole
Very cool tips. tHanks
Mighty job Gerard, Thank You💯👌👍🙏🙂
Cheers Pat, much appreciated buddy 🇮🇪🇮🇪

Same here w my 2016 Jetta. Dealer wants me to spend 1700 on a new assembly.
30 minutes? Try 1hour or more ! Guaranteed it fogged up again over night as soon as it cooled down.
The Hater from town has spoken
I used hair dryer and the moisture came back in no time.
@ 3:40, thought as much, thank you.
I had to remove the headlights, remove the bulb, and then dried it out in the sun.
😮the vents are block thats why
That’s a band aid not a solution
too much talk
I agree on and on and on
