ive had moisture in my headlights since i bought my e92 9 months ago and didnt even know there were vents on it like that until today, thank you so much dude
Nice solo video Josh. I'd recommend keeping an eye on the surrounding plastics though, hairdryers can still cook or distort plastic/wiring if left in the same area for too long or on too high a setting.
Thanks!! When I tested it a few days before to see what I was dealing with, I removed the hairdryer every few minutes to make sure nothing was melting.
Thanks for this video. I have a '17 330i with adaptive LED assembles. I figured there would be no access to drying out the unit, but on top of mine there is a 3" round cap that comes out, that's where I placed the heat gun on low. The lens has a minor crack, but water got in after driving in the rain. After drying out I'll seal the crack with clear epoxy. The first inspection station said I'd fail with a cracked headlight. But after no more condensation and sealing it neatly I'll try some other stations. Fingers crossed, as my new assembly costs over $1,800!
@@carcreationsyt Update: Went back to the same inspection station. I explained the situation, no more condensation, neatly sealed. He said "I take care of you." Thanks again!
note if you got halogen lamps just keep high beans on then when hot enaugh just take off rubber seal. Will dry by itself in 5 minutes. Not too sure if projector or LED do the same since heat might be not that high.
Funny you've released this video as I need to take care of the same problem on one of my tail lights on my F56 mini cooper. The thing I am afraid is this could've done damage to the controller since the light went into safe mode (light is dimmer basically) and is throwing error messages on the dash for the whole module (blinker, reverse light and tail light). Do you think something similar could help fixing it ? By looking into the rear service hatch inside of the car, I've noticed a ton of frozen condensation (on both the left and right side). The temps here in Quebec have been pretty wild with lows in the -30's during the night and into the -10's during the day. I might gonna have to change a couple of seals around the car altogether to fix this around spring.
Perfect timing!! The condensation was messing with the electronics in my lights too. I didn’t mention it in the video but I was getting all sorts of error codes to do with the lights. Drying out the lights helped and all the codes have gone away and not come back since. I think if you gave it a shot that would definitely help. In the spring I also plan on completely pulling both lights out and redoing seals and inspecting for other cracks.
This video is amazing I literally have it on my F20 BMW series 1 literally the same headlight as well. Will do a quick video once I get to fixing it as well! Amazing!
I wouldn't recommend using silicone on that seal. It will make it very difficult to remove the bulb in future. I have a 2007 E83 x3 and I have recently replaced both my headlight front polycarbonte plastics. I used butyl rubber strips (avail eBay) and a small heat gun. When removing the old plastic lenses don't overlook that there are probably a number of torx PK screws some hidden behind two bent rubber air vents. It wouldn't have been too difficult to cut out s new round seal for that blub out of some similar material.
🙏 I have this problem on one of the headlights on my bmw f21 2012 model. Do you know if this method will work for my car? And can you please wright down the name of the glue you used? Thank you so much!
The reason the headlights are cracked is because your shutting the bonnet down wrong, just lower it till it stops on the catch then give it a push down on both sides at once, never drop it down from any height.😊
We had a friend that dented his hood by pushing it down, so we’re trying to stay away from that. I think the headlights cracked from living up a 6km long mountain dirt road.
The openings in headlights are a feature mentioned in the manuals…. RTM… If you close the tiny openings, you close it off which then can lead to other issues. Choose which issue you would like to have in advance…..
There is too much going on. All you have to do is remove the cap to access the headlights and allow it to sit overnight. When you wake up the next day it should have removed condensation completely. You’re welcome.

Awesome! Glad you found it helpful! Hope you are able to fix the issue!
You rock! Saved all of us hundreds of $$. VERY appreciated!
Glad it helped, thanks so much for watching!!
Omg thank u so much! Every other video has way too many steps…this was simple and to the point and got the job done! 🏆🙌🏾💯
No worries, glad it helped and thanks for watching!!
Thank you my dear brother I used a bracelet and the result was good I followed you 🌹

That’s a good point! Thanks! Should have included that, unfortunately I don’t think it works for the leds as they don’t get too hot

Idling indoors? What could go wrong? LOL
Thanks for the concern! This garage is meant for fixing machines and has a duct system that turns on when the exhaust levels reach a certain value.
nice video, BTW that retro Mach1 shirt is badass 😎
Thanks! I got it when we went to SEMA.
Awesome video!! Definitely useful stuff! Great work there!! Keep it up!!!
Thanks so much, will do!
Thank you great job
Thanks so much for watching!
Was the crack easily visible or how did you find it
It was visible however I have heard some are harder to find or on the seams
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!
Glad you found it helpful, thanks for watching!
@@carcreationsyt bello quello che hai fatto ti posso chiedere se si può fare anche con i fari a led? Possiedo un BMW 320
@@carcreationsytwhat you did is nice, can I ask you if it can also be done with LED headlights? I own a BMW 320

Where you buy that glue?
My 2014 528i headlights are condensed and so I’m gonna try this method as soon as i get off today!!
Let me know how it went!
I have a 2014 535. Any luck.. My driver side head lamp same issue
@@tonydatiger3536 not for me lmao. I have adaptive led so i don’t have access to my lens like he does.
Hi what type of paste/seal is that?
Is it possible to perform the same operation on a bmw f20 with full led headlights?
Yes I believe it is!

Do u carry this work out for others i never find a good garage
No sorry, we only work in our own cars for the most part.
Thank you
Great tip
Thanks for watching!!
Car sounds sweet man. I have minor burbles on my straight piped 535xi. Is it a catless downpipe that’s causing your loud burbles and snaps?
Thanks! I’m still catted. The only exhaust mod is the muffler delete.
Thanks

Locating the actual crack can be daunting.
Agreed 😅

Poor engineering if that's the case
The buyer of your car will be happy when he tries to pull the headlight modules
😅 at least they don’t fog?
@@carcreationsyt that's true :D

Hmm, yeah. Good tip. No issues yet, but will keep an eye open.
Just saw a guy putting all the way in a small 1/2" hose connected to a vacuum cleaner. Seemed quicker than just a hairdryer.
That could be a really good idea! I’ll have to try that next time I have a car with the issue. Thanks!
Sorry it’s such a hassle to remove your headlight assembly. My Ford takes 3 bolts and a screw to remove. About 2 minutes.
😂 typical… even a Porsche headlight can be removed with less than 3 screw
I was a fan of BMWs for many years but i am tired of repairs especially with the newer models. They traded quality for style in new models.
First hint, you have a garage ? Use it…
😂 yes, 100%
That is a Florida gasket.
