Hey man, it's great to see a real nice guy helping an 80 year old senior citizen! Thank you for your very simple and informative video! God bless you brother!

I would use "Mothers Mag", you gear heads, muscle car enthusiasts remember this. It was used to polish chrome wheel mags. A very fine abrasive. It revived the color and shine. Same concept.
Mother's Mag & Aluminum Polish is cheap and works great. A very small amount will get the job done, and fast. It may harm other surfaces, though, and you'll want to really rinse it off and then (if it's an outdoor item like a headlight) seal the cleaned surface with some UV protectant.

Have to say I was a little skeptical. Watched the video a couple of times and thought "Why not...?" Bought it, did exactly as shown, got PERFECT results !! The lights on my 1999 Accord, which have never been polished or replaced, now look brand new !!! Did them twice, to make sure I didn't miss any spots, all in less then 15 minutes. I have to say this is the first time in my 68 years I have ever bought a product that OUTPERFORMED it's claims !! Thanks for a great video,

Should be a class action suit against the car companies. As for the other reply, I think my cars engine can handle the stress of the added 3 or 4 pounds glass would add.
The weight and dangers of sharp glass, caused our government to get involved and screw everything up..only thing dangerous is our government. Keeping us free one more law at a time.👎😡
Just happened upon this video of yours; unfortunately, I'd recently just restored mine by wet sanding (400/600/1200/2500), followed by three coats of Rust-Oleum Matte Clear Coat for plastic (with UV protectant, non-yellowing formula), then using car wax to finish it off...ala ChrisFix. You have a knack for doing video. Impressed by your very friendly and professional demeanor. Thank for sharing.
I'd just like to make some constructive criticism. The compound won't soak into the plastic, it contains a very fine grit, similar to soft scrub cleaner for bathrooms. This grit essentially sands the oxidized layer of plastic off as well as lightly polishing the layer that becomes exposed. Also as a correction, THIS IS NOT PERMANENT. From the factory a layer of UV protection is applied to the surface reducing the time that the sun and elements breakdown the plastic. The process shown in this video will eventually and more rapidly allow for the oxidation to return (depending on the weather in your area). If you'd like for it to last longer, you can purchase a uv protectant spray from your local auto parts store that will add a bit more protection and longevity to the restored plastic. Otherwise this is 100% temporary even with the spray
@@LuisRodriguez-fd4sy I they're in really bad shape, wet sand with 800 / 1000/ 1500/ 2000 paper. Rubbing compound is far too fine fix bad lenses. It's for restoring the shine after sanding.

Thank you so much. I have tried the gimmicks, you are the man. I have shown everyone your tip. It took me 10 minutes and used it on one of my cars and my daughters. Almost bought new headlamps. You saved me $1000
Thank you so much for the video. I am also 80'ish and this is so much easier than going through several other processes before cleaning the headlights. I once had a car to trade in and the dealer docked me on headlights that were cloudy! So, this is wonderful to have a one stop process.

@cliffontheroad Then why would you click on a link to the video? You are a good fella, not only helping us, TH-camrs, how to do it right, but your elderly neighbor as well. What a noble Gentleman you are. Great video, it worked for me. Thanks.
Compound is not a water repellent. The fact that you make it glossy helps it to repair water or the appearance of. But once the sunlight starts getting to it it's going to start fading even faster than it did without any protection. You must put a protective coating over that plastic. The Maguire's clear coat coating is one of the best, the dupli color high gloss clear is pretty good as well.
What an awesome neighbor, and I will surely try this, was gonna go to the dealership, they was talking about $75 to restore, I figure, it had to be a cheaper way, then I found your video, thank you for your help.

I saw this on 3/14/23…. During my lunch hour and could hardly wait to try this on my wife’s 2010 Subaru Outback. I had some Turtle Wax Compound paste… so not the 3M liquid… But with 2 applications per headlight… hand rub and hand buffing… and Wow, what an improvement! They don’t look “like new”, but definitely a tremendous improvement. I know the night driving & rainy day driving safety level went up substantially AND that is absolutely worth the 20 minutes it took. Thanks for sharing this info.
I had to comment back. I received my 3M Auto rubbing compound yesterday and I just now, used it on my headlights. I have to tell you how happy I am, it worked like a charm. In spite of all the other methods I tried and purchased, this stuff took out the scratches from the previous wet sand I used. They look great and I am so happy that I don't have to put the money out for new lense covers. Thank you so very very much! This stuff works like new!
Thank you for this helpful information. I am saving this video. I read all 3500+ comments. You are respectful to the rude naysayers and you help out your 80+ neighbor. That shows character.
I love these kinds of fixes simply because you get results. Nothing is more frustrating than rubbing and scrubbing with no visible improvements. I did try this and was very pleased, thanks so much!
Awesome tip, thanks I may actually be able to look like I have headlights again & not driving down the road with 2 pocket flashlights! Love your intro, very creative. GBY for helping your neighbor, not enough of that these days. Ah, life in the country--I miss it!! Take care & I look forward to more videos, glad I discovered your channel.
WOW! anyone who helps their 80 yr old neighbor deserves a subscription, comment, share and thumbs up! I was going to do my headlights tonight with toothpaste or vinegar and baking soda, but after seeing this I am totally going to do it this way! Thanks, man! 😃
Just dont but the Turtle Wax lenses cleaner with a 5 step process, it even comes with light sanding paper. It sucks big time, no difference at all even when using a buffer.
This was a great video, need to buy me some of that stuff to make my moms car lights better for her when she drives . The Turtle Wax 6 step crap with sand paper sucks . I'm going on Twitter and letting them know how I really fell . Lol The lubricant spray on the turtle wax brand was just water, and the other spray oil, and sand paper pads, what a damn rip off, the kit was almost 40$
It's a UV protection coating on the lense from manufacturers that clouds up. When you polish this off you should apply a new spray of UV protection over the lamp
No matter how completely you polish away the UV damage (not necessarily oxidization) it will quickly return because the UV layer has been depleted and removed. I went through this process many times until I applied a UV clearcoat. This polishing lasts a few weeks at the most. Now I am finally done trying every product and method that comes along. Two years with clear headlight covers at last! Wet sand, clear coat, and forget!
UV Damage is oxidation...the sun has oxidized the outer protective layer on the lense....apply UV clearcoat and you'll have yellow headlights in 2 years...apply rubbing compound every 6 months or so and you'll have clear lights
Rubbing compound is the first step on a new paint job. Smooths out orange peel, and WILL scratch clear coat/paint. Tape the paint off from the lens. If the lens is still a little hazy(happens on some plastic), polishing compound(finer grit) is next. If you're really crazy, or a new restorer(same thing), buffing compound will make it look like glass, but that requires a wheel. Great vid, bud!

Just saying it's hilarious how many people just assumed his neighbor is elderly and he's so awesome for doing this video and cleaning his headlights, I'm lmao!! Sn I do appreciate the content creator for this video, but people should really stop assuming and listen!!!✌ out respectfully!!
He said in the video that his neighbor was in his 80s.❤
I am not a car guy at all, but I tried this on my 2009 chevy cobalt's headlights and they look good as new.
Rodney Dudgeon I hand rubbed the headlights by hand with Microsoft cloth and the headlights came out great.
Same bro same
The best cure I've seen. Watched several videos. Great job helping others.
You did an "AWESOME JOB", and very KIND of you to help your neighbor!!!!
Thats what I was thinkn'.....
Thank you for helping your old neighbor!
Thanks for sharing this info.
you are a good neighbor and I like the product
I have used rubbing compound too with great results. It does work. Great video and thanks for helping out your elderly neighbor.
You are a good man for helping out your neighbor! God Bless You~
I had to comment back. This stuff works like new!
youre so jolly and sweet thank you we need more people like you and this is a tip ill for sure use
Great demo! Also a good brother for looking out for your 80 year old neighbor. Good man.

LOL - will my Mcdonalds napkin work?
saudi
government fuel requirements forced auto makers to lower the front for aerodynamic improvement
@@ufartface Plastic is cheaper than glass... Profit before quality. Practically everything that could, went from glass to plastic.
Oh yea
Thank you for this helpful information. I am saving this video. I read all 3500+ comments. You are respectful to the rude naysayers and you help out your 80+ neighbor. That shows character.
I used that 3M rubbing compound on car bumpers and hubcaps on my 55 n 56 Chevies 50 years ago !
@Kimberly Frankenberry 😂🤣😂☠
I love these kinds of fixes simply because you get results. Nothing is more frustrating than rubbing and scrubbing with no visible improvements. I did try this and was very pleased, thanks so much!
Updates ?
How long does this last?
@@Star-iw1kr Still looks good!
@@CharlesNolanArt That's awesome you reported back. A lot of these quick fixes for foggy headlights only work for a few weeks.
No results whatsoever.
You are AMAZING YOU did the best video tutorial on how to clean - restore headlights👍👍👍👏👏👏
Thanks Angie!

WOW! anyone who helps their 80 yr old neighbor deserves a subscription, comment, share and thumbs up! I was going to do my headlights tonight with toothpaste or vinegar and baking soda, but after seeing this I am totally going to do it this way! Thanks, man! 😃
Thanks for making and sharing this video. Thanks for helping your neighbor too!
Thank you very much for your car headlight tips.
I'm running to O'Reilly's for the compound fluid right now!
Thanks again.
The foam glass cleaner@Wal-Mart works& its probably cheaper😁
I hope this isn't what I tried before if it is it takes a lot of elbow grease 💪💪💪💪💪
Just need 91% rubbing alcohol. Much cheaper.
It's a UV protection coating on the lense from manufacturers that clouds up. When you polish this off you should apply a new spray of UV protection over the lamp
I really like this guy's positive demeanor.
Thank you‼️My headlights are so cloudy my mechanic said my car won’t pass its next inspection. I’m getting this product TODAY!
Thanks buddy!!!! Soooo much cheaper than the $350 they wanted for new ones!!!!
3m products are good and made a difference very good job josh 👍
I'm 66 my car is hynaudi 2009 thanks God bless you and keep you safe hugs and love ❤️
