I have the 10.2 inch that came out this year, and I’ll say it is so worth it, everybody down grades it so much for what you get, it’s all around a great tablet for any day to day use
Zenon Btw I really like mine too. For the price it is a deal. I use it for basic tasks and script writing utilizing celtx and it handles it like a champ. The Ipad Pro is great but it also also like a Porsche and this ipad is a corolla. Both do the same thing but one just does it with more niceties.

I bought last year's 329€ iPad and I'm editing 4k videos for over a year now. So I think it's more than a Netflix machine.
How fast/slow is it for exporting the finished videos? I'm wondering getting the pro for editing videos but it's so fucking expensive and I'm not specially an artist.
how you manage the storage? i would like to buy the 32GB but, hell ya even in apple display product i see that only 5GB left for their device :3 and i see that there is not much app. :3
FYI i might need microsoft office apps, pdf apps, mostly student related and media consumption

I am a graphic design student and I debated forever on whether to invest in a this iPad with the Apple Pencil! If you are looking to be in ANY creative industry this somewhat inexpensive version is an absolute game changer!! I wish I would have bought it early my freshman year!
ThePolishedGinger Exactly, and you don’t even need to be in the creative industry to take the maximum profit from the iPad, I’m studying finances and couldn’t live without my iPad, to have all your books, note taking apps, spreadsheets, everything you need with almost no weight at all, it’s amazing.

Bukan Vanessa Angel no, it’s a fact that it’s max tech’s opinion. He said it himself that the color gamut was bad, but someone else could think that the color gamut is good. So, it’s his *opinion* , got it?
If you plan on pursuing graphic design as a profession after college you need to get your feet wet with a real system, laptop or desktop and the applications that go along with that workflow such as InDesign / Illustrator / Photoshop. iPad doesn’t work into the professional workflow. After 25 years of being Mac I just jumped over to the Windows side and am quite pleased. Avoid the Mac Air thing.
im currently in a graphic design program at my college. I’ve been using the iPad 7th generation for it and it’s honestly amazing. honestly it’s inexpensive (for Apple products) and got the apple pen 1st gen. Probably wouldn’t trade it for anything

iPad is not a laptop replacement. It’s a different kind of device that is very good at different kinds of things.

It’s a lot closer to replacing a laptop with the new iPad OS. I use it for word and excel with a keyboard and don’t feel as though I’m missing anything now. Multiple windows can be open now in different Word documents, flash drives can be used, and real work is so much easier now than with iOS 12

I am currently using a MacBook Pro as my daily driver but thought of buying an iPad now.

Well, I use excel quite a bit, but I haven’t actually tried using more intense functions like macros and developer options such as clickable macros using the iPad version of excel. So, you may want to give it a test run in the Apple store to see if the app-based excel is able to do each of the things that you currently use. I will say that using the touchpad is the way to go, however. So, if you get an iPad Pro (which is my daily driver), a keyboard and a Magic Trackpad, you are pretty close to the price of the entry level MacBook Air - I prefer the iPad Pro, but again it’s a decision only you can make - best to give spit a thorough test run in the Apple Store (set up an appointment and have them give you a demo tour).
I’ve bought and returned an iPad Pro twice now because I convince myself that I’ll get into illustrating and find a use for it but I never do haha, maybe I’ll get one of these cheaper ones so I feel less guilty buying one
Nicholas says You could get the new 2019 Air then because it's probably enough over the base iPad but not as Pro as the Pro models. It has an A12 chip & battery display specs. It has True Tone, & is a good value for the price. Or pick up a 10.5" Pro since that has ProMotion tech with that sweet 120 Hz refresh

I bought the iPad! It helps with TV, TH-cam, email, review my Pages reports, news, etc. I used to love reading news papers on a Sunday morning with a coffee, but now it’s my iPad. Boots up faster than a computer and is bigger than a phone.
I have the cheaper iPad about 4.5 months now and I use it for music teaching, illustration, handwritten notes, books, making posters and loads of other stuff. Apart from the price point, I found the 12 inch iPad way too heavy and fragile since it’s made of glass. Love this tablet. It’s already working for its money. Best €349 ever spent.
Bit of a noob question but could you use this iPad as a drawing tablet in After Effects? Couldn’t find any definitive answer on Google
I dont believe it has the full after effects program. You could do stuff in procreate, affinity photo, or affinity design and send it to your computer to do what you need to in after effects.
I use the ipad 6 for writing documents, mails, and making some presentations. sometimes i draw with procreate. its also helpful for editing photos in lightroom. it’s really cool
My wife and I bought the 6th Gen 320€ (here in EU) and it's great value to make use of the Apple Pencil and some apps connected to it. Works very well for what we need.
I bought my iPad Air (2019) a week ago and I didn’t have a clue as to what it is capable of! Tutorials are the best!
I 100% back up Sara! Been using this iPad at University this year and has been incredible for this use.
So far I love this iPad, but you definitely need the Apple Pencil! Without the Apple Pencil this iPad isn't worth it. I love this iPad w / the Apple Pencil.
You can use IFTTT if you have devices outside of "THE APPLE ECOSYSTEM" it works on both Android and iOS and is compatible with Google Assistant and ALEXA .

Siri Shortcuts is the single greatest thing Apple has done with Siri. There are *so* many uses for shortcuts, and you can build ANYTHING you want out of it :)

I just bought this ipad and watched this, and I am so so pumped! I want to use it for drawing, so seeing John's creations was so validating of what this affordable device can do, with the pencil! And then, I am also a podcast producer and editor, so seeing all of the shortcuts .- that is so so cool! Wow I can't wait to play and set this up!

I bought the 2018 iPad, and then this year when the new one came out... I just went with the iPad Air. It seems a much better device with the A12 instead of the A10, for about £100 more.
I got the ipad 7th generation with the key board for $429!!! 128G’s I absolutely love it especially with the updates. I would buy it 10X’s over again!!! think you can do more with it then they’re telling you. Maybe in a year I’ll go in for the next one!!!

Its an awesome tablet .. would have been much easier option if they didn't have that mid-spec iPad Air .... Or even if they would have bumped the processor up to A11 .. it would have been a no-brainer
to purchase!
I have the iPad Pro and I use it for everything I do in the corporate and creative space. For some of my photography gigs, the pictures never see my laptop. Since the addition of “side car” I use it as a 2nd screen for FCPx. It just keeps getting better. I still try a Surface but I don’t want to buy it, lol.
I got the 1st generation iPad and thought it was so useless I never bought another. Now I want one more than ever primarily for illustrating
I’m still using the 1st gen 12.9” iPad Pro. Do you still have yours? iPad OS now gives it the ability to browse files on attached USB storage devices and zip and unzip things natively for example, which it never could before. I can download a firmware update for my camera in safari and save it to an SD card, put it in the camera and update the firmware. This simple workflow previously required a “real computer”.

The £329 iPad 7th generation is actually good for students who study a lot and who are trying to find an easier way to revise for exams. It has a big screen and it’s slim I’ll say it’s such a good price for a big iPad. I’m getting my iPad 7th generation tomorrow for Christmas and I can’t wait to use it for my exam revision 😁😁

Maybe I'll buy that iPad this year. It seems very good. I didn't know the Shortcuts app, thanks. It's cool and useful like the old Automator on Mac OS. I love this kind of app.

The cheapest iPad is for the everyday consumer. Most people would be more than happy with the cheaper iPad but for me personally I prefer the iPad Pro mainly because you can get the larger size, which even though people say you cannot i have literally replaced my MacBook Air.
Great video - good overview of many of the cool things an iPad can do, and really nice to see Shortcuts making an appearance too. And in the intro I’d forgotten you can stack slide over apps and swipe between them like a mini iPhone, so thanks for that :) Found your channel via your appearance on Mac Power Users, some great content here - subscribed. :)

Im studying design and the 6th gen has worked a charm for me, for taking as an ultraportable to class every day, but sometimes I do need to get out the XPS15 for the big proyects.

For $329, you get a VERY tight, meager, and limitive amount of storage. 32GB to be exact. You lose a couple GB's because of the OS. Even less storage. Spend the +$100 for the 128GB variant.

You need local storage to download apps, games, and movies. You'll miss out on many apps, games, and movies.
If like Sarah you would prefer a Samsung tablet then the tab a 10.1 is pretty good

So I have the 6th gen (the one before it) and from what I can see, they are almost exactly the same. I mean, if you really care about the tiny difference in screen, I respect that, but really, it’s no difference. I would suggest the 329$ because it’s cheaper, but I just wanted to put it out there. Edit: I do also feel like this could replace a laptop. All I have is my school laptop which I don’t use, and this works great! Just get a cheap amazon keyboard and mouse, and you’re good to go.
I really just wanted to know this one and how it compares to the 2018. For example how do you charge the pencil? Is the writing experience better than the 2018 or the same? I feel this was just a video about the general ipad
It was bc they are exactly the same haha all those things u mentioned the same that’s why I didn't focus on specs and just showed why maybe you'd want one. Bigger screen and smart keyboard support only upgrades

Alex Perrucci just bought one yesterday and was surprised that Lightroom CC was not compatible. Hopefully they will fix this with an update.

Anyone who wants a iPad Pro, Amazon has the second generation 10.5” for about $100 more refurbished with 64 gb of storage.
I’m currently using the 6th generation, which I paid $250 at Walmart for it.

H I 64 GB. The second and third generations start at 64 unlike the first generations.
You are a lucky person, you can easily have that iPad, unlike me who even needs to work hard to keep eating, I wish to have it too, I want to learn to be an illustrator if you have that ipad. its nice video tho
I had a iPad mini 1 for 2 years woz too small and gave hints to my husband and I got a surprise he kept saying u have iPad yea don’t need one so I woz not expecting this wooohoo I got this in rose gold as a Christmas present from my husband it’s way better watching Netflix and playing hay day too
