    Thanks for the video, it will surely help those looking to do this procedure on their own vehicle, some people just do not realise how much effort it takes to make such a video, thanks once again, greetings from South Africa.

    10out of ten for the effort making this video Thankyou
    I’m doing a 3 liter one and debating whether to do the oil pump on account of the beaking tensioner lug issue

    Thanks John. Just watched again to check I wasn’t going mad. Those fucking timing tools are ridiculous. I’ve ground mine to fit too.

    Popped up in my recommended list, didn't see you replace the water pump? would have been easy while all those parts were off

    Thanks John, Great stuff. I am about to attempt this on my own Discovery 3. It looks a bit daunting at first but I have a bit confidence after seeing this. Did you also do your fuel pump drive belt at the rear. Cheers Graham

    • @jsrmacleod
      @jsrmacleod  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Graham Broadbent No I've not done the fuel pump belt, I was limited for time as I work offshore and only had a couple of days left where I had other things to do, that and the weather was really bad, I'll leave it until the better weather, to be honest looking at the belt I took off the car I suspect that they might have been replaced already, I'll still do it though and will maybe do another video to cover it.

    Hi John - Great video. Did you have any info to confirm th flywheel timing locking pin is ok to handle the torque of taking the crankshaft bolt out. I see there is a pricey tool with teeth on it to lock the flywheel. Might be cheap if the pin breaks. Just collecting parts to do this right now. I noted the kits say don't undo the camshaft pulleys using the pin so this made be worry about the crank which has mega torque on it...

  • @jsrmacleod
    @jsrmacleod  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The crank is locked via the fly wheel mentioned in the video, that's the locking pin that goes in above the starter motor

    Good morning mister, Here in Brazil ... the mechanics (some don't have the experience, or don't read the manual) have the habit of lifting the entire body to change the engine's timing belt .... What's your opinion about that

  • @MrThommo78

    How did you fit the new seal for the oil pump mate? Did you have the tool? You also didn’t show how you got the crankshaft bolt out. Would help me at the moment! Lol

    Looking at this I don't think you had to remove the bottom pulley at all. Also as long as you mark the pulleys and realign before installing the belt you'll be fine and use drill bits in the holes

    • @jsrmacleod
      @jsrmacleod  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The crank is locked directly via the fly wheel locking pin. Some would recommend you don’t do that but it was fine

    To change oil pump does it require to remove oil pan, oil pan extension... and a part of suspension (like indicated in Haynes) or it can be done from the front of the engine (possibly removing generator and aux belt tensioner? Can anybody tell?

    John Macleod Hello Mr. John. I have a problem with my Land Rover Discovery 3 tdv6 2.7 when I step on the accelerator at 20 speed. The brake signal and anti-skid signal lights up and the letter F is written on the transmission and then it goes torque the car and then as I did not stop the air pump signal lights up After that happens, shut down the engine and restart it so the problem goes and when I repeat the process the problem returns. Can you help me to solve this problem Thanks for your understanding and help me in advance

    • @jsrmacleod
      @jsrmacleod  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry, I only just saw your question. The F is obviously for fault, I suspect that your wiring loom from the automatic transmission to the ECU has a broken wire. I had issues with mine, I needed a new loom fitted, it was too complicated for me, I put it to the garage, it cost me £700 to do and that was with a used replacement loom.

      Well, it's okay, my friend, I think that the problem I have is with the fuel pressure regulator on the main pump anyway. I wanted to confirm to me what exactly is the problem is from the main fuel pressure regulator or is located inside the tank
