Thank you one million times, there is literally almost 0 info on search engines and videos on this subject in TH-cam, it kind of makes me question all this blender Tutorialist's how they never this obvious issues we are bound to run into.
I am new to Blender 3D and to 3D printing, and that little throwaway comment about the bool tool? That was the most validating part of the whole video for me!
I'm looking forward to getting back to my model and recreating it with you reminding me all the seemingly arcane keystrokes, too!
I'm so excited about this video!! I've been working my way through your precision modeling course (which is fantastic) and I took a quick aside to watch this, out of curiosity. I think I may be able to fix and print an older model I had made now!
Your tutorials are SO well done, I find it easier to learn from you than any other TH-camr, on any topic. Thank you so much!!
I feel like I hit the mother load when I found your channel. TYSM for this awesome contribution to the world. I don't have enough money to contribute, but I promise to make more and better content having gone through these lessons.
Thank you so much for making this great video that helped me finally solve some issues that had been bothering me for a while. Much appreciated!
This was useful at explaining what is going on at a basic level. Thank you.
Great vid. I'll use this as my go to guide when I have issues
this clarified many things for me, thank you
Thank you very much, this solved some problems in understanding and even showed some problems I didn't even know that I have them.
Terrifically helpful. I kept thinking I did a good job on the modeling only to find they dont' work with boolean modifiers.
This tool is amazing! Thank you for showing its power!
The cleanup always messes up my models, now thanks to you I can fix them manually, thanks!
This video is pure gold. I had errors in my model I would've never discovered without this video, let alone how to fix them. SO AMAZINGLY satisfying to have a zero error model before sending it to Chitubox. It's one huge boulder off my shoulder. Thanks a bunch buddy.
I’m saving this video and subscribing. So useful! Thanks
On thin faces, the thinest that you can go is the nozzle width that usually is 0.4mm. The thickness that you mentioned on Prusa Slicer is for top and bottom not walls.
Nicely done! I don't even have Blender and I thoroughly enjoyed this. :)
Thank You, very clear!
Great videos man.. Tahnk you a bunch
Awesome video! Thanks you very much for this content! Subscribed!
Great video. Is there a standard set of commands you run through prior to 3D print toolbox? Like merge by distance, normals-> outside, etc?
Super helpful, this!
I figured contig would stand for contiguous. Maybe the subs only made me hear you say continuous, in which case, please forget what I said, except for the super helpful part.
That was verry useful. Thank you.
Face loop selection via Alt+LeftClick works like a charm. What doesn't work consistently for me is Edge loop selections with Alt+LeftClick on Edges. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't. Also depends if edges for a face etc.
thanks for this, it will help me out a lot
THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO!👍👍👊 Shared sub
U've saved my model, thx
Bless this man
Great series.
Any plans to do scripting for precise modeling in blender?
great explanation of the errors, but not sure about the advice on fixing them manually. wondering if using the mesh clean up options might be a good video topic to combine with this. I mean not everyone works on large clumps of lego blocks. blender can do small parts with fine detail, but face count to show that detail can be high. What if you are working with 1 million + faces and have a high count of some of these errors? Manual fixes sometimes just arent feasible. using Make Manifold can work well if the errors are of a certain type. you're right about booleans sometimes causing alot of problems. sometimes parts will just not work. when that happens, I model to a certain point then do a voxel remesh to fix the issues. tks for the vids
Merci beaucoup pour la video j'ai enfin réussit à corriger mon model 3d. :)
Love your videos. Im going through your FreeCad series now as well. I was wondering though, what for keystroke display program are you using?
goto love that manual, it's on my to do list, lol
This video is excellent
thanks a lot!
you've become my go-to true blender "zero2hero" guru, at last! sigh
OMG I was about 7 hours into a 3d model and the ankles of the "kobold" were non manifold, i almost threw my laptop at the wall till i found this vid 🥳 , Shift + N fixed it 😅
thank you
I'm getting intersect face errors on complex faces all the time, even though the face does not intersects anything. I guess the plugin has issues keeping the check within the bounds of the face. I guess it would help to break such faces into tris or quads but I don't want to do that. As long as I'm sure there are no real problems it prints just fine.
When visualising things like zero edges or faces, I find it useful to switch to wireframe view and vertex mode because it will highlight not only the problematic parts but also edges leading to them. View selected also helps.
very good
My models just didn't wanted to work when sended to stl in Cura, I was about to eat my keyboard, but this solved it, thank you!
9:28 Question: Shouldn't you have set the Thickness to 1.26mm instead of 0.86mm since you had in your slicer Perimeter Option 3 as vertical shells?
Bro this helepd me so much.... I´d link this video in the description
which description?
Great
Just one little point. Contig. is an abbreviation for Contiguous rather than _Continuous._ Meaning sharing the same border, or butting up against, where Continuous obviously means uninterrupted.
Any suggestions on working with:
Non Manifold Edges: 51380
Bad Contiguous Edges: 1056
Intersect Face: 52191
Zero Faces: 144007
Zero Edges: 6508
Non-Flat Faces: 29
Thin Faces: 48895
Sharp Edge: 8202
Overhang Face: 104782
😔
Non-Flat Faces: If you have a mesh where it's not critical how the non-flat faces are fixed, for an automated approach press the "Non-Flat Flaces" button, which will select all of them. Then, under the "FACE" menu, select "TRIANGULATE FACES". That's all there is to it.
I'm working with a very dense, high poly mesh that keeps running into these issues when I do any boolean action on them. Although this video does a fantastic job of explaining each problem and how to fix it, it's MUCH easier to do on a simple cube than on a complex surface. I was wondering if there are any ways to fix the issues on something super dense??
THIS
did you find an answer?
If you are doing models for 3D printing, I've found that voxel remeshing on the Object Data Properties fixes most of the issues. Most printers end up triangulating your mesh anyway, so hanging on to quads seems not necessary, as far as I know.
thanks man@@johnkeyberg3476
Where does this face orientation in your contextmenu fpr Bad Contig Edges comes from?
Great video but one question. Does text need to be converted to mesh to 3D print?
I made a simple extruded line of text but converting it to mesh produces 4780 Non Manifold Edges and 3540 Zero Faces!!!
No way can I fix that!
I just tried exporting to stl without converting to mesh and it seemed to work. Is that the correct way?
Printing stuff confuses me slightly not wanting to print any models just need this to check if my mesh isn't shit.
Reli need your help when I try and select the face to find out where my 3D print is wrong it doesn't let me select it
0:32
Any more info on this scaling inaccuracy bug?
12:15 - also 2000mm Thin Faces bug
I'd love if you could remake this video with a more complex model as non of the useful fixes are reducing my mistakes on this larger more complex mesh
If you have a model in mind let me know. Ultimately its the exact same application of information in this video just many times over 😅
Hey, today is 11/03/2023 and I have watched your tutorial here a dozen times and I still can’t duplicate or repeat the process you illustrate for clearing out zero faces or thin face? Every time I try it either cancels out the changes and goes right back to the same issues or it creates more problems like bad Contig., sharp edges, etc….could you possibly help me figure out what I’m doing wrong?
quick question, I am making a 3d Model of a house only thing that shows up is overhang faces 141 to be exact, but these are mostly the bottom of the model where it will sit on the plate, others are because window and door openings up top , should I worry about those? can't really do what you did and keep it square
The overhanging faces are just to let you know what is over 45 degrees. If you know that is the base of the model then you are fine =)
@@Keep-Making awesome thank you
So say faces hsd s number above 0 does that mean i need to fix all faces?
Yay im the 1000 like :)
Number 1 thing you failed to do was show how to even start using the add on and acess it
Also, where to get it from!

What is the status of the realthunder branch? Has all the important stuff been merged to official Freecad?
Not yet. It's in the works, but i believe Jonathan said that sometime in the new year it should be implemented in one of his freecad videos
@@Panvil Great. Thanks for the hint. Once it is merged I hope there will be made a new video on how to do things proper using official Freecad.
Out of curiosity….. is it limited to 100,000mm^3 or is it limited to 999,999mm^3?
On the note regarding booleans, they completely bug all of this in relation to Zero Faces, and even trying to merge the faces, nothing happens, the best thing to do is just ignore it.
When I do this my model vanished

Sorry no details when I do the clean up process
feeling so much *_meh_* about this tool -_-
Wow. It has 0 tools for modeling- its just *diagnostic tools.*
