    Nice Comparison! For Bass singers people often just focus on the low notes so It‘s cool to see high notes getting some appreciation!

      During his time alive he was the lowest voice in Opera despite not being the darkest voice in Opera because the darkest voice was Gottlob Frick. Either way still an impressive voice.

      Yeah for a dramatic basso profondo he has got good high notes indeed. He must've worked hard on those. Many tenors struggle above D4 in chest voice at the beginning of vocal training.

    Yeah many basses can definitely sing higher than we often think!

    Bass sings B4! 😳 So me, baritone have a chance too 😂 maybe, someday...
    And the most interesting fact that they (basses) don't strain, they sing it comfortably. Just really, amazing performance.

    • @bradycall1889
      @bradycall1889 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      They probably won't feel comfortable doing it all the time. Every once in a while is probably fine for their voices, probably, but I don't think that a bass should be expected to sing a B4 in chest voice all the time every single day. If they constantly sing in the tenor range, it would damage their voices (most likely).

    • @dylanjwebmusic
      @dylanjwebmusic 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Kurt Moll was a basso profondo, Avi is a higher bass and the other two are bass-baritones. Not to mention Avi, Geoff and Tim sing pop so they have trained their voices to sound lighter and higher. Their natural tessitura is surely in the 2nd octave and lower 3rd octave.

      You have enough range for a professional singer but what you write is confusing. E2 - G#4 could be a bass or baritone range, but the F4 - G#4 passagio sounds like in a tenor. I think you need further evaluation of your voice. Are there any recordings?

    • @WeazelNewsBroadcasts
      @WeazelNewsBroadcasts ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mysteriumvitae5338unfortunately, no. But I've recently talked to my vocal coach about that. He said that I can sing in low-tenor range but the traits of my voice are close to baritone. Kinda baritenor ot dramatic tenor, 'cause I can sing the beginning of the 4-th octave with no tention until F4. And after F4 I face problems (scream on F#4-G#4). I started developing low notes a little bit further, cause Freddie Mercury has already been my inspiration to sing. The main goal is to develop a high range. So low notes weren't in a priority. And E2 is in the best day, my low range usually ends at F#2-F2

    • @WeazelNewsBroadcasts
      @WeazelNewsBroadcasts ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mysteriumvitae5338 Interesting that I could barely hit D4-Eb4 at the beginning of my vocal classes, low range suffered too (G2). Then range expanded until current notes, counting head voice G5. By the way, I ve been singing for three years already, and mixed voice is still a problem even though I can sing high

    The interesting thing is that Geoff Castellucci once identified as a lower baritone. I think what he is doing is he is comparing himself to the lowest bass singers out there thinking that it's the norm. I think that anyone with the proper knowledge of the fach system (the system within Western Music of classifying voices) that he is no baritone. He may not be a basso profondo, but I would say that he's a true bass. I've heard some baritones out there with pretty good low notes without a microphone, but not as resonant as his. Not even close.

      i started comparing my voice to both basses and baritones and didn't make sense i had such ease with the lower notes (down) to Db2 while struggling too much with the highests

      Geoff's B4 was 100% mixed. Kurt Moll also mixed his notes above his second passagio. It's not like the opera singers use only chest. Sure, they sing MOSTLY in chest register but every opera singer has to switch to mixed voice at one point.

    The pop singers in the video have lovely voices, but none of them sound like a bass or even bass-baritone. They sound lyric tenors or light baritones using a mix quite early in the scale. Listen to Barry White or the lead singer of Hootie and the Blowfish for what a bass-baritone sounds like in pop or Billy Eckstein in classic pop. True bass voice are extremely rare. Bryn Terfel in the bass-baritone realms did crossover albums for musical theatre and his head voice and mix are much thicker in sound than any notes by the pop singers supposedly singing in chest.

    • @deezy7574

      I thought thicker high notes isn’t achievable by basses it would sound thinner and more strained compared to higher voices

    • @boundary2580
      @boundary2580 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@deezy7574 not with good technique. Basses just usually don’t usually ever sing above an F. As long as you keep the vocal tract open and let the sound put easy it won’t sound thin. The “thinness” only happens when a bass tries to song way higher than they physically can, like Ab or higher. Even then there are rare people who have those notes and more. The point is that low voiced singers don’t need tenor high notes because F’s and G’s ARE their high notes. A bass singing a good F is just as good as a baritone G or a tenor Bb.
