AWE expansion in Control left me wanting so much more. More Wake, more Faden, what happens to Faden's brother. My guess is that Remedy is working on a combined Control and Alan Wake sequel, and will likely star a new protagonist, possibly the FBC agent stationed in Bright Falls they were trying to call in AWE.

Another great video! If I may make a request, I would appreciate a video exploring an alternative interpretation of Polaris's motives. I recognize that it would all be based on speculation. And you already addressed this somewhat in a prior vid on the nature of Hiss & Polaris, so you may have nothing else to add. But as time goes by, I'm becoming more convinced that Polaris isn't a good guy. Perhaps a necessary or beneficial force in Control, but I'm thinking that it may actually be the Longball villain. This is based on the fact that the only neutral or uncompromised voices we get in this game come from Ahti and, by extension, Tor & Odin. They are the only ones with no skin in the game or a need to control the OH. Their song "Take Control" repeatedly mentions that Polaris is being hypocritical, which suggests either it has the same nature as the Hiss, OR that it has the same goals / intent as the Hiss. The latter actually makes more sense in context, as it appears to be a warning against trusting it or letting it all the way inside of Jesse (which inevitably happens anyway). The thing is, Polaris / Hedron is generally portrayed as the savior in the story, as everyone would be Hiss meat puppets without it, so I'm wondering if there is anything else in the game that I missed that could suggest Polaris having an ill intent.
Great video as always! How did Hartman discover the power of the lake? Is this mentioned in a manuscript, document or somewhere else? Zane was the first artist to be connected with the lake (At least recently) but what was the first altered event (before resurrecting Jagger) by Zane?
The History in Alan Wake has a lot more holes than in Control. All we get is one or two Manuscript pages that discuss this period as well as that one reference in This House of Dreams. Most likely he began working with Zane and discovered it incidentally. Before 1969 we don't really have much info in the area. The Native Tribes who originally settled there understood that there was power there but we have no information on what happened then.
@@GamingUniversityUoG Thanks for the reply! That's actually pretty cool and there's so much more to explore! Hopefully, we'll get more information across the Remedy Connected Universe next year!
Those are taken from The Alan Wake files by Clay Steward. They should be in the steam game files. Basically the guy he met in the prologue nightmare travelled to Bright Falls after the game ended to investigate.
One question I still ponder: How did Hartman initially find out about Cauldron Lake and the power within? Did he stumble upon the power by chance, or was it Thomas Zane who introduced him to it? Or maybe he learned about it somehow through his research into esotericism and hidden planes of existence.
Currently they are working on their Project Vanguard, the Campagin Mode of Crossfire X, a smaller game which I am assuming is an Alan Wake HD then two Major Games. I'm guessing one may be Control 2.
@@GamingUniversityUoG I really hope there is a control 2, I'd love more information about former. Also could you do a video explaining what the heck are firebreaks?
Can you make a video regarding Hartman's corruption and how exactly it changed him ( I'm aware Alan Wake explained it but there are some things about it that I don't get) edit: i meant his physical appearance in AWE dlc (the thing that had been hartman) but i remembered that the hiss can physically distort your body which would explain why he looks the way he does
I certainly hope so. We witnessed the Vanguard symbol during the Keystone incident. Basically where the entire population vanished into thin air Roanoke style. I'm thinking the game may follow what happened to those people. Why they were taken and where they went.
@@GamingUniversityUoG there was some leaks a few weeks back about a game going to get shown off at Microsofts E3 about a game from a studio who's only done single player games and it will be there first online live service game. During the credits of Control, it mentions a tribute to the real Dr. Emil Hartman. Was this just a reference to the in-game character, or an actual person?

Love your videos on the RCU, would you be as kind as to share the documents mentioned in the video around 2:00
Those are taken from The Alan Wake files by Clay Steward. They should be in the steam game files. Basically the guy he met in the prologue nightmare travelled to Bright Falls after the game ended to investigate.
Incredible work!
I really appreciate it!
Theory vs. Practice
Classic
The whole thesis summed up perfectly.
Amazing content!! I am always fascinated how deep the lore is
I think that's why Remedy titles really stands out. Even 11 years later there is still so much to discuss.
One question I still ponder:
How did Hartman initially find out about Cauldron Lake and the power within? Did he stumble upon the power by chance, or was it Thomas Zane who introduced him to it? Or maybe he learned about it somehow through his research into esotericism and hidden planes of existence.
Fun how Remedy brought this character journy back (not hartman no) in a certain Saga case during Alan Wake 2
Yes, Dr. Campbell.... very fitting
You're awesome! Thank you for your hard work.
No thank you! You guys make the hard work worth it.
I love the remedy verse so much. What do you think the next game is?
Currently they are working on their Project Vanguard, the Campagin Mode of Crossfire X, a smaller game which I am assuming is an Alan Wake HD then two Major Games. I'm guessing one may be Control 2.
@@GamingUniversityUoG I really hope there is a control 2, I'd love more information about former. Also could you do a video explaining what the heck are firebreaks?
Can you make a video regarding Hartman's corruption and how exactly it changed him ( I'm aware Alan Wake explained it but there are some things about it that I don't get)
edit: i meant his physical appearance in AWE dlc (the thing that had been hartman) but i remembered that the hiss can physically distort your body which would explain why he looks the way he does
Love your work!!!
Thank you very much!
Just awesome!
Bruh amazing as always but yoh misspelled resurrected the first time.
Damn lol. mistakes happen.
I think we call agree that we would've lined up behind Alan for a chance to punch Hartman in the face.
Dude he is up there with Umbrich from HP on most disliked antagonists. Hartman is insufferable
Very interesting!
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Where are the real life acted clips taken from? Bright Falls?
Yeah those were taken from the Bright Falls Prequel series.
I think there is a good chance we see Vanguard at E3 here in a few weeks. Any ideas on what the game is about?
I certainly hope so. We witnessed the Vanguard symbol during the Keystone incident. Basically where the entire population vanished into thin air Roanoke style. I'm thinking the game may follow what happened to those people. Why they were taken and where they went.
@@GamingUniversityUoG there was some leaks a few weeks back about a game going to get shown off at Microsofts E3 about a game from a studio who's only done single player games and it will be there first online live service game. Sounds like Remedy to me. With the making this some sort of co op live service experience I was thinking it would be cool if we play as FBC field agents looking into that!
You are the best!
More suited than people who spent a lifetime at it. Alan wake time in the lake at that time 1 week.
Bruh I literally thought hour ago when will I see new video😂
Haha nice. I got you covered on the content friend!
@gaming university hey loved the video man, but i was also wondering if you ever got to check out the show I recommended, The Lost Room?
I'm watching the first episode right now actually. The Key reminds me of a certain light switch cord.
@@GamingUniversityUoG oh hell yeah, im looking forward to your thoughts on the series x)
HARTMAN WAS STRETCHED!!
Hartman thought himself more prepared than he was and we are the result. Stretched by forces outside of his understanding.
my man got THICC
Unlike dr. Darling our guy Hartman here didn't put a gym in his place.
If the FBC was real, i think you would be head of research
Too many bad things happen to Research Heads. I'd live with Head of Investigations. I hear after Kirklund left there has been an opening.
No! Head of Research should never be anyone except Emily Pope!
mhm
During the credits of Control, it mentions a tribute to the real Dr. Emil Hartman. Was this just a reference to the in-game character, or an actual person?
Where does it say that in the credits? I honestly havent look at them closely enough to notice.
I can’t like this video more than once? Shame...
That would be awesome but sadly no lol.
Bit of hate towards academics in this one! Were you beaten as a child by a theoretical physics teacher?!?!
Lmao no but I got detention from a music history professor once. No if you follow the channel you'll know I'm big into academia. Just Hartman's behavior has a holier than thou quality that gives it a bad name.
