The Daytona dial is an absolute mess. Back in 1988, when Rolex switched to the Zenith movement (and carrying all the way through to today’s 4131 movement), a 4 Hz frequency is used, meaning the chrono hand moves in 1/8-second increments, but the dial is indexed in 1/5-second increments. So even though Rolex claims that one can measure elapsed time down to 1/8 second with the Daytona, it’s not true because the dial can only give readings down to 1/5 second. So the movement is out of sync with the dial and the chrono hand will never line up with a 1/5 second hash mark. Rolex should either eliminate one mark between each second to allow 1/4 second readings (and allow the 4 Hz movement to be in sync with the dial) or keep the existing dial and regulate the movement to 5 Hz, allowing the movement to be in sync with the the existing dial. Additionally, the minute sub-dial is shit. The 10, 20, and 30 minute numerals each block out three minute hashmarks, potentially giving the user a difficult time reading the elapsed minutes.
Can you see the difference of the cases? The yellow gold and the steel Daytona (what is not presented in this video) are the only One’s with a same Slimmer case. The rose gold, the Platinum and all models on straps have a much thicker case. The difference is quite big. Would like to know, what is the reason for it. But nobody talks about and Rolex don’t tell the story why
@@WatchAdvisor I own the current Steel version. That's why I noticed it straight away when I held a Platona in my hands. compare the two sides of the case from log to log very carefully. you will see the difference. The steel as well as the yellow gold bracelet variant are asymmetrical & slimmer, while all other models are completely different and have a symmetrical shape. take another closer look. Thank you for you’re interesting video.

I went to a rolex event when these where released and they asked me which one I wanted to order and got a chance to order one. They told me I’d get it around November. Do you think I really will?
Beautiful although I find it really hard to see the actual time on most Daytona’s. A problem I will never have as the religion of Rolex means they never end up in the hands of the average watch collector ☹️ If I was running Rolex I would stop the AD system and only sell them through their own boutique’s. The whole AD system is clearly being abused and watches are obviously being sold out the back door. It’s damaging their brand and reputation and will cost them dearly one day.

I very much like your videos, I think your videos are the highest quality watch reviews on TH-cam. However, all these Rolex reviews are quite upsetting. @@WatchAdvisor yes, i own one. In addition the previous rolex also had gibeon pieces. The stripes are well defined and straight on the gibeon. Unfortunately it is not possible to get new pieces anymore.
@@WatchAdvisor The Gibeon is considered to be the prettiest meteorite stone, with the best crystaline structures. If crystal growth is not well contolled, then the symmetry of the patterns is less good. What is the meteorite used by Rolex right now?
@@BobGolob The material which adorns the dial of these new Cosmograph Daytona watches - metallic meteorite - comes from an asteroid that exploded millions of years ago. On the voyage between planets, fragments of this natural extraterrestrial material, primarily composed of iron and nickel, cool by a few degrees Celsius every million years, creating unique, distinctive crystallization within the material that is impossible to recreate on Earth. Metallic meteorite is rare and challenging to work with, but once it is cut into thin sections and a chemical treatment is applied, the great beauty of its interwoven internal structure is revealed. These fascinating and varied formations are known as Widmanstätten patterns.

Don't blame me ... don't blame Rolex! Rolex manufactures 1,000,000 watches (!) per year and delivers sufficient watches to its ADs. But only the ADs decide who buys a Rolex ...
Very good remarks, thanks for sharing! Please watch this video th-cam.com/video/fG1oyeaoibE/w-d-xo.html that we published earlier this year...
But nobody talks about and Rolex don’t tell the story why
they all have the same case dimensions ... The difference is the color and how the color lets something appear and maybe the bezel ...
@@WatchAdvisor no, you are not correct. The steel version and for example white gold on oysterfex have two different cases.
most people dont know that
@@WatchAdvisor I own the current Steel version.
I hear/read this the first time... Will collect some information and come back to you ...
Hmmm where is the rosegold with black ceramic bexel and meteorite dial?
These are the three new 2021 Meteorite Daytona's ...
@@WatchAdvisor i changed my mind and put waitlist for the rosegold version and whitegold version
The rose is available on oysterflex, I believe.
@@andrewm9669 not in the 2021 edition…
@@andrewm9669 yea thts what im talking about..
Which one do your prefer out of the rose and yellow? Also, what do you prefer out of the whole bunch???
I’d clearly go for the white gold one with the rubber strap Rolex calls bracelet…
Love the WG. It’s a pity I probably won’t be able to buy one from an AD.
You should be able to buy such a watch from your AD though! It is a shame that all these Rolex watches must be bought on the parallel market… it’s greedy business!
The oysterflex is actually a bracelet, there’s a metal insert inside the rubber.
Correct, thanks for sharing! Still, to distinguish it from the "Oyster" and "Jubilee" bracelet you might call it strap...
3 more watches from Rolex..... and this will be the only time in our lives we'll ever see them!!!!! Have gone from a love to an absolute hate and deplore everything about Rolex as a brand!!!!
Rolex does not have any own boutiques. Rolex is a foundation and "only" meant to be a manufacturer, the ADs are those entitled to sell the watches ... This is THE problem! This is what created this greedy business! A (maybe the only) solution would be to have an official and total transparent waiting list hosted at the Rolex website... The buyer in the end decides who may deliver him the watch for retail price... Rolex can then allocate more or less watches to the waiting list to quicker serve its real clients waiting for a specific watch and not deliver those to the ADs freely ... This would IMHO quickly destroy that actual greedy business...
I went to a rolex event when these where released and they asked me which one I wanted to order and got a chance to order one. They told me I’d get it around November. Do you think I really will?
When was the event?
Beautiful although I find it really hard to see the actual time on most Daytona’s. A problem I will never have as the religion of Rolex means they never end up in the hands of the average watch collector ☹️ If I was running Rolex I would stop the AD system and only sell them through their own boutique’s. The whole AD system is clearly being abused and watches are obviously being sold out the back door. It’s damaging their brand and reputation and will cost them dearly one day.

@@WatchAdvisor totally agree 👍🏼 I think Rolex need to do something. It’s a real mess. I know they don’t have their own boutiques but maybe it’s the way forward. They could control the whole process from manufacture to point of sale and offer a better service. Some people think it’s in the pipeline 👍🏼 I really like your reviews 👌🏼 awesome work 👏🏻
I would like to pick one but what's the point it's out of my price range and getting one is slim to none if I wanted one. But they are beautiful watches. Althouse I'm not sure why a rubber strap on an aviation/automotive watch.
To make it less costly and to give it a more "lighter" look & feel ...
They can call it whatever they want, it's a rubber strap, not a bracelet. Too bad the white gold isn't available with a bracelet. Would look a lot like the steel version, but better with that stunning meteorite dial!
More stuff that no one can actually buy in the real world. Enjoy the video though! White gold please.
What a shame, I know… Did you read my comments underneath reflecting to other similar comments?
Amazing indeed, too bad us mere mortals won't even get to see these watches in person let alone get to buy with a fair price
Yes, that’s true! It is a shame though…
I very much like your videos, I think your videos are the highest quality watch reviews on TH-cam.
However, all these Rolex reviews are quite upsetting. These watches are impossible to purchase for 99% of the potential customers and not because of financial reasons, but to the known Rolex circumstances. It aches to see them and knowing most of us will never have one, because we are not good enough for the ADs and Rolex does not seem to do anything to work on this well known issue.

@@WatchAdvisor I am aware and absolutely agree with your comment and your idea is a very viable solution. I would be the most pleasantly surprised, if Rolex actually would make this effort.
@@orig_gee_man Thousands of overpriced Rolex wait for a buyer, whilst ADs don't sell you one... How stupid is this? There are thousand of honest buyers out there who simply would want to buy one of the best Swiss watches and wear it every day... The huge money making machine is for sure lucrative for some, but MUST be stopped NOW. Why should Rolex longer feed all these greedy people and disappoint its honest clients...
@@WatchAdvisorI am sure Rolex is all aware of this, wonder why they keep letting this happen?
During your meetings with their representatives, I can only hope they mentioned something encouraging about the future.. No need to answer that :)
Dear Alexander, I fully agree with you and you speak on behalf many of us. Looking forward to your next videos and thank you.
Never gonna see one are we folks.
Don’t say never, you never know… I’ll keep my fingers crossed 🤞🏻
Nice enough looking watch but it is just way to shiny. It's trying too hard to get noticed.
It is a typical Rolex gold watch when worn with a full gold bracelet ... these watches never intended to stay under the radar ...
I was on the market for yellow gold meteorite daytona. I found ONE for sale. $310,000 :( :(
You must be kidding!!! 🤦🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
@@WatchAdvisor I wish I was, I had to settle for the black dial. I don’t know how you got your hands on one. But if your selling for cheaper let me know!
@@IMLEGEND1876 We filmed the watches in the Rolex HQ in Geneva…
It seems to me that the new Rolex meteorite dials are not as pretty as the previous ones, made of the Gibeon meteorite.
Do you own a „Gibeon“ one?
@@WatchAdvisor yes, i own one. In addition the previous rolex also had gibeon pieces. The stripes are well defined and straight on the gibeon. Unfortunately it is not possible to get new pieces anymore.
Interesting, thanks for sharing! So you mean the Gibeon-look is more symmetrical....
These are the watches you can hardly own even you can afford ☹️
I have just posted a comment to "Donky Kon" I'd recommend you to read...
Unless you are a Fortune 500 CEO, Celebrity or watch channel influencer you will never get your hands on one of these unfortunately. Very beautiful timepiece though
Don't blame me ... don't blame Rolex! Rolex manufactures 1,000,000 watches (!) per year and delivers sufficient watches to its ADs. But only the ADs decide who buys a Rolex ... So ONLY blame the ADs not to sell their Rolex watches to (their own) flippers and (own) resellers through the back door and therewith dramatically increase the margin of these watches, but instead to honest clients for the list price walking into the front door... It is a shame, it is a greedy business!
The Gold one’s aren’t too hard to get.
@@WatchAdvisor Hopefully Rolex will one day sell their watches through their own boutiques and therefore help to stabilise prices
