- In this video, we enjoy a beautiful campsite and visit some fascinating glacial potholes while I discover the perfect parking spot. This is part two of our kayak camping adventure, where my friend and I set up our tents before heading out to explore the stunning Fox Islands in Georgian Bay. We start with a tour of our campsite after arriving at the island in the previous episode. My friend recently got a new tent, so I asked him about his color choice. While he was busy setting up, I took a break from filming to fly the drone and take in the incredible scenery.
Later, we both admired the landscape around us, including unique glacial potholes formed by meltwater beneath glaciers. Georgian Bay, home to the world’s largest freshwater archipelago, the 30,000 Islands, features about 80% of Lake Huron’s islands. We set out to explore the southern Fox Islands, starting with an unnamed one that had its own natural charm, including a pine tree that reminded me of a well-known painting.
Next, we paddled to West Fox Island, the largest on our route, which offered more intriguing natural features. We then headed toward Sly Fox Island, paddling around its entirety and deciding to return to West Fox for a closer look. As the winds picked up, we enjoyed the excitement of paddling back to our base.
Georgian Bay is also known for its shipwrecks-over 200 are scattered throughout its waters. Some notable ones near our location include the Gargantua, the Nellie, and the Waubuno, each with its own piece of the area’s rich maritime history. As evening fell, the cool air hinted at the approaching fall, and we enjoyed a warm fire, a drink, and reflected on how fortunate we were to visit the Fox Islands. Thanks for watching, and we hope you enjoyed the adventure!

You said it, Daryl. These “shorescapes” are absolutely SPECTACULAR. The rock formations are from another planet. Your video and drone footage (and your weather) were as good as it gets. Well done, again!
Thanks! We definitely got lucky with the weather, it turned windy and wet on the way out the next day.
Beautiful camping spot! The water is so clear! Beautiful rocks. Very pretty video! 😃💚👊
Thank you so much. Yes it is a truly beautiful spot. I can't wait to paddle out there some more. Take care.
Absolutely beautiful. All of the rock formations are so interesting and the waves can certainly polish them very smooth. Loved all of the islands that the two of you kayaked to. Thank you so much for introducing me to this area. 😊👍
Thanks! It's a pretty unique spot on the Great Lakes. I'm lucky to live nearby. Thanks again for watching. Take care.
What an excellent video - I enjoyed every minute. Stunningly beautiful. I love the smooth rock formations and the view of the islands from the air. Seems you had almost perfect conditions for this spectacular outing with your friend. Thanks so much for sharing it with us
Thank you so much, I really appreciate your kind words. Take care.
Another gorgeous video. I find those rocks so interesting looking. It's neat how some sections have potholes and little pools of water trapped in them. The drone footage is amazing. You could really feel how isolated the two of you were and just surrounded by nature and rocks and water.
Thank you very much. I love that area and can't wait to get back out there.
Oh man, this video made me so excited for next season! The Foxes are a must see. All the islands are stunning but I'm partial to Sly Fox. Love being camped up on the bluff, excellent view. We are very lucky that all of these islands around Killarney did not get populated with cottages like the ones south of the French River. Great video Daryl 😃
Thanks! I'm glad you mentioned Sly Fox Island, it looked very appealing. But I'm wondering about the lack of shelter from the wind up high there, I assume you didn't have any issues?
Dreaming of summer! What a beautiful way to explore and enjoy nature! Lake Huron and Georgian Bay are picture perfect! Loved seeing the drone views from above with the crystal clear water and the amazing variety of rocky islands. Awesome camping spot!! 👌💙💙🇨🇦🇨🇦
Thanks Jen, Yes, I can't wait to get back out there again.
Sure is pretty incredible!! Marvelous the power of erosion and ice and water, and others too, to make all these great formations. Pretty marvelous stuff! Picture and painting perfect views all around!
Thank you Bruce. I really appreciate that. Take care. ~ Daryl
another beauty Daryl - spectacular
Thanks! I've still got Massassauga on my radar. Expect some more inquiries. 😁
Love this
👍👍
Thank you very much!
Man I love that campsite! Awesome footage Daryl, you're becoming quite the TH-camr my friend.
Thanks Jim! It was a pretty nice place to camp for sure. I appreciate the kind words. Have a great weekend. ~ Daryl
Wow Thank You Daryl You have some Amazing and very Beautiful Area to Kayak the area is so Beautiful and Peaceful Your little spot of Paradise do You do any fishing while you are out Kayaking in that area???? 🙂💙👍
Thanks Robert. It really is my paradise, at least until I can explore the coastline near where you live. No, I don't usually fish while I'm kayaking - mostly for logistical reasons, I don't really have room for the fishing gear. But I hope to do some in the future.
Beautiful footage of a truly spectacular area. Really enjoyed these ones!
Thank you! I wish you were there with us, I had a thousand questions. 😁
LOL....Are you always so hard on your camping buddies? I'm glad he got the tent that doesn't stick out like a sore thumb on the rocky shoreline. What a gorgeous campsite! And love that soothing paddle on the calm water! Love it!
😀I'm only hard on the ones who can take it and dish it back. Luckily, I was the only one with a mic! Thanks for watching, Lynda.
@@flynorthproductions LOL...good friends with a sense of humour are the best! Always enjoy your adventures in this region!
Must be great to paddle those lovely waters and explore the islands 👌 great film
It truly is my favourite place, so far. Thanks!
Your travelling adventure vlog preparation and presentation was entertaining to watch. I look forward to your next content! Stay blessed~
Thank you so much. Take care.
Great video my friend 😊 what a beautiful location 👍👍
Thank you very much. I agree, the area is beautiful. Thanks again.
That was awesome 😊 incredible footage from the Osmo Pocket and the Mini 2, I loved the video.
Thanks! Yes, I'm really happy with the new camera, the colours are much richer than my old one. Thanks for checking it out!
So many great moments in this one! Those islands seem almost otherworldly with how smooth they are. Nice to hear you aren’t a total freeloader by building that fire at the end 😂
Lol! A truly beautiful place and truth be known, my friend did a lot of the fire preparation too. 😁
Daryl! Stepping things up a notch I see. Some really lovely shots and shot framing on this video. Also, the usual good humour ““it was hard watching my friend do all the work while I was filming… so I put my camera down… (and continued to not help him. :p). Then later… “so we sat by the warm fire - that I had mostly built“. Hmmm… but did you? :p Loved the drone shots - showing all the hidden underwater structure and gradients. The potholes @5:29 and rock formations @6:26… yup… I have added The Foxes to my to-trip list. The reveal at 11:37 and mix of slow mo… all so good. You captured all the details so well! 👍
Thanks Trevor. I still haven't figured out how you get your slow-mo shots to look so smooth and natural but I'm trying! I'm really glad to hear you're interested in visiting the Foxes now, you won't be disappointed. Again, I always appreciate your positive feedback; you've set a standard that I'm trying to reach. Glad you liked the humour too. 👍
Was quite the spectacle out there. Your spot was just awesome👍👍enjoyed, and liked the drone shots
Thanks my friend. I can't wait to get back out there.
@flynorthproductions same here :)
That was a pretty cool camp site👍 awesome footage Daryl✌
Thanks Marc. I hope you make a video of your trip to Blockbuster.
@@flynorthproductions that trip will have to wait until next year. 4 days around the island is coming soon👍
Really enjoyed the beauty, the bath tubs, the drone shots. And great narration as well Daryl. When did you paddle this one? Thanks for the adventure.
Thank you Kathleen, I really appreciate it. We were there on September 10th and 11th.
Just curious, what was that cot you were singing. 1:44 and how compact does it get?
Hi. It's the Cascade Mountain Ultralight Camp Cot, purchased at Costco for $79. It's 4.7 pounds and 23"x6" when packed up. Thanks for the question.
It's good you let your friend do all the work...he wasn't supporting the team colours with his tent so he needed an extra dose of labour😁
Really nice kayak parking spot🅿🛶
Way to go on "mostly" building the fire🔥🔥
It's so beautiful there😍
Very nice video, Daryl! You could get this put on TV and I'm sure you'd get lots of people watching😁 You edited this together nicely. Great job!
You get me. 😀 Thanks for the very kind words, Age. I can't wait to get back there.
@@flynorthproductions It's a really good production job on the video. If you keep this up, you may be on TV someday.
