It's Time To Quit Drinking Alcohol, My Friends. I'm Done.

  • It's time to close down an enduring chapter in the book of my life that I've been writing since way back in the 80's. For many reasons, I've made the decision to quit drinking alcohol. I'm done. End of Mission. The End.
At 51, I'm now truly on the downhill slope of being among the living. Time is something that's becoming more and more critical at this stage of the ride. I need to maximize every hour of every day and remember as much of it as I can. Therefore, the booze has to go.
Join me for a long talk about how I came to this conclusion and where I plan to go from here.

I've drunk alcohol 40 years now. What I know is, there are no answers in the bottle. But, It helps me to forget all the questions, for awhile. I just tune in for the award winning TH-cam videos, whether you drink or not. Just keep on keeping on brother.

I drink because I'm bored ~ I'm in IT PARK or near IT PARK ~ I got in a fight in a bar in the new mall at IT PARK ~ fight with a Canadian guy ~ He started but I have to come down the drinking ~ I will stop but I have to pull back on the beer!

January 17th, 1991...the booze was interferring in my life and damn near got me fired from work. Having a wife and two little ones, I couldn't afford to fuck up. Hangovers are merely the results of alcohol poisoning. Control??? Everytime I tried I failed. One week later. Two weeks. A month. But sooner or later I started drinking again. Admitting I was an alcolholic was a BIG first step. Good luck. I'm a friend of Bill W.

I’m so happy to hear that you’re taking this courageous step towards a healthier life. We’re the same age and I relate to you in many ways. I understand the challenges you're facing as I too am on a similar journey, fighting right beside you and battling my own demons Each day is an opportunity to move closer to a brighter future but make no mistake about it you’re in for the fight of your life my friend. This is war. Time to dig in. Remember, you're not alone in this fight. Keep pushing forward, one day at a time. You've got this

I am very PROUD OF YOU for you for making this decision. I have said this to you many times as a friend. I stopped about 35 years ago and I have not missed anything, in fact I feel I have gained so much more. Honestly, your videos are better when you are not drinking. You will be around for your kids a lot longer by doing this. Great decision for the family too I hope it really lasts this time, I remember you tried before and didn't make it very long, so this time just pray for god's help and you can do it. I did the same with smoking many years ago too. I just quit one day. That was probably harder than stopping drinking but I didn't want the smoke around my family and the kids were very young at the time and always wanted to be around me so that was also a great decision. I didn't go out partying with my friends when I was young I went to the airport and spent the drinking money on flying lessons and got my pilot's license. I had real estate, finance, and software businesses. My friends all had hangovers and I had a license to show for those times. Later in my life, I retired at 36 years old, I went out drinking for a while with friends and hated the next morning having hangovers. After a while, I just said that's it, I had enough, I needed to have a clear mind every day and wake up happy rather than hungover. At that point, I started another business and built it into an international company without ever looking back at drinking ever again. You will have a lot more success when you stop drinking and you and your family will have a much happier life. This is the best decision in your lifetime to do this. Find more things to do to keep you busy instead of just sitting around drinking. You can become the Philippines DJT, if you put your clear mind to it, anything is possible. God bless you, my friend! I am here for you if you need someone to talk to in this great venture.

Quitting is a very challenging journey. I totally support your decision for whatever value that has. And got your six as a listener from afar as best I can. My dad was an alcoholic. He died way too early. Not from a bad liver or organ failure. He fell and hit his head twice in a year. The last one killed him. So, quitting is in your best interest. Too many things can go wrong. Shoot me an email if you ever need someone to bounce thought off of. I've used a couple emails to sign up on your mailing list. God speed, brother.

When I was convinced the value of life was guaranteed to get better without alcohol, that was the beginning of my new life. April 13th, 2010. Everything from waking up, going to sleep, and everything in between is so much more enjoyable. Today I always try to set up my future self for success, because I wasn't like that before.

The contacts I made in bar rooms here in the states have made me a lot of money. That said my personal life has suffered due to a dui and just the general malaise that the after affects of a night out has caused. Now I only drink in the house but that is still adversely affecting me mentally. Thanks for this show. Maybe it will help me that you are saying out loud what I already know.

I woke up this morning and felt compelled to rewatch this video and read the comments. It struck me that most of us have the same experiences. We are all just at different stages in the same journey. I always thought I was the only one thinking these thoughts.
Hearing you take an honest look at your relationship with booze, and articulating the pros and cons inspires me to make some changes in my life. I’ll watch this video again when I need a reminder to stay on track.
Don’t worry about TH-cam content or viewership numbers. You are good at articulating your thoughts. Since you are honest, the messages resonate with the current and former pirates out there. Keep making good videos and the audience will find you. I look forward to hearing more musings from your sober mind.

King Markus, you are a very intelligent guy, i never give advice, especially on alcohol. My Dad died from cirrhosis of the liver at 49. I didn't know him. I had my last drink at 43, im now 62, i did smoke some pot the last couple years, Legal in my delusional state. Covid ran me out of AA. To many complete idiots. When im here in the Philippines of course no pot. I don't really like it anyway. My kids are 25 and 22 they were 3 and 5 when i stopped drinking, best thing i could have ever done for them, both very successful adults (half Filipino) my marriage ended at 8 years sober ,i take 1/2 responsibility for that. I quit drinking many times. Stopping drinking is the easy part. Staying stopped is the hard part. Much success to you and your family.

I can tell you I can tell the difference between your sober videos and drunk. You are incredibly intelligent, with a heck of a lot of knowledge. Share that with the world, your kids need it. We as viewers opinions don't matter, maybe our support and telling you this is for the best will.

35 yrs sober, to stay sober I equate alcohol with poison. 20 yrs of drinking in excess was enough for a lifetime. Good luck on a fresh start.

Marco I’ve been watching you from the $20 condo to the penthouse to every shenanigan in between. I just put myself out in Thailand. I had to get myself out of there before it ate me alive. Cambodia is much better for me. Go give Forest G a high five for me. Have a good morning man

Doctor warned me of alcoholic fatty liver Jan 2023. Stoped drinking and went on diet consist of whole foods and meat. Within 6 month my doctor was surprised that I reserved my fatty liver. These days I just have a glass of red wine on special occasions. 😊

Agreed, one must stay in control of alcohol consumption, To note, Cannonau wine is called the artery scrubbing vino ie people are living to 115 years old in blue zone regions of the world.

Love your videos - even commented on your recent box wine video - but I haven’t drank in many years. Never had a problem with the stuff - really enjoyed IPA’s, box wine or Crown - just depended on my taste at the time - but never had trouble turning it off for weeks or months at a time. It all changed for me though when I realized that I had a child who had a drinking problem… he totaled 2 cars and came close to dying in each accident due to intoxication. Obviously - it was his choice (as an adult) to drive while intoxicated - and to be intoxicated in the first place - but, I truly began to resent the fact that I had allowed my kids to ever see me represent that drinking alcohol was a good thing in any way. A person never knows that they will become addicted - until they are…
I gave away all remaining alcohol in my home years ago and haven’t looked back - I don’t yearn for it (thankfully) - and I sure don’t miss paying for it. I now completely represent to my kids that it is ONLY a negative thing (for my life). Just my personal choice…
Good luck - I hope you achieve the balance you seek. You and your family will benefit from it.
By the way…I have a friend who has drank for decades…he was totally fine - until he wasn’t - starting having health issues - went to doc - Stage 3 Cirrhosis of the liver. He quit cold turkey…but he now wishes he had quit a long time ago.

Thank you for this video my friend. I have been a subscriber before, then quitted. But for some reason, enjoy watching your videos every now and then. Why, because you are funny and honest. This is your most meaningful one ever. I have been living in Taiwan for 20 years, have been to the Philippines 4 times and said to myself never again. Who knows, maybe I will. Nevertheless, hope to meet you one day. You have put a smile on my face many times. Good luck with your endeavours. Johan

I have been engaged to a filipina since 2018 and have a four year old son together. I'm hoping that you will share how you dealt with in-laws and the language barrier. She wants to live in her family's village and I want to live close to the beach (a good 5 hour drive between there place and where we're staying). Whenever we visit her family, the language barrier is miserable. The younger family members know English but are afraid to speak it and most of the older ones might be able to read it but can't speak it (my southern accent doesn't help) lol. She likes to visit for 7 to 10 days when we go but I've reached the point that I stay one day and head back to the beach house by myself. I just can't stand sitting at her house with all of her family and relatives chatting and I can't understand a word. I've been trying to learn Tagalog but it's very slow going. I definitely have no desire to live there in her village and deal with that on a daily basis. This is majorly affecting our relationship and just wanted your 2 cents on how you dealt with it. Thanks and I really enjoy watching. On a side note, I was unable to be in the Philippines for my son's first 2 years because of Covid which really sucked and now it feels like they think I stole their grandson.
