Been there and done that. You are doing right by meeting and exceeding the expectations of the family. It is truly the most important part of life in the Philippines to maintain face of the family at all important family events such as Christmas, Christening, birthdays, weddings, etc. The expenses are small compared to the US, but your status within the family clan and community will remain large. King status indeed.

This might be the worst advice ever. Omg. Don't get involved with the family. Ffs. There's a reason these girls are dying to have a white guy twice their age... Unless you wanna live Filipino style, live your life the way you live.

her husband speaking age 80. In my first trips to the PH, my wife would leave me with a friend while she went shopping. Even today, 47 years later, when she
is trying to buy something anywhere, she does not want me near her. Prices will go up or will not come down. After all, American's especially are looked on as
being " rich " true or not. When we go to my wife's salon to get her hair and nails done and maybe a hair cut for me. We always tip 500 peso's - because we can.
Help the folks out when we can.

    # 3 very cute little puppy.- we have 3 dogs, unfortunately they eat better than many folks in the area. Two bowls a day of rice and fish or meat, personal vets
that come to the house for their shots, sleep inside on very hot or wet days, the maid walks them all twice a day around the resort. What a life, . I love my dogs.

I grew up in the Philippines but in the big city. Its good refresher to see life in the province is and how they celebrate a feast.
Goat in Filipino culture is only prepared for special occasions such as this event. The younger the goat the better since it doesn't have as much gamey smell. Kambing Pinapaitan is my favorite goat dish.
