On several cross-country moves, my wife and I carried both hand-held CBS and walkie-talkies like yours. She was driving a car behind me, and I was driving the 26 ft Penske truck. If I angled that big side-view mirror just right, comms were spot-on both ways! I find trucker banter amusing… she, not so much 😂. Made our trips much easier.

We communicate in the woods with those small radios. We have our own channel set for everyone. Ours have a sub channel so we can hear others on the main but they can’t hear us.
I sure don’t miss being tied to that damn police radio.

How could anyone talk for 25 minutes about not much and still be entertaining? Nice Vid Marko.
I think it would be a good idea to get regular LED flashlights. So everyone has a flashlight in their bag. And run them on rechargeable AA batteries. So no one feels the need to save on the batteries. You need 25-50 lumens to walk slowly on a trail, at least.
I have fallen off a 3m high cliff , I misjudged the distance to the edge in the dark.
Have stepped down in a small but deep hold in the trail, so the whole leg disappeared down below the ground . Could not walk for days. Have cut my hand, the wound became very infected, had to take antibiotics after that.
And many more accidents have happened to me in the dark.
All accidents could have been avoided if I had just use a ordinary flashlight.

Playing catch up here. I remember asking about that when i spied one on a backpack when you guys were doing some shopping. I could tell it was what we call a bubble pack radio, here in the states an FRS radio where no license is required. And your correct about real ham radios, in time of emergency, anyone can use any radio on any frequency to get help license or not. And yes they suit your purposes just fine there where you are, very handy.
Reason number ten,you like toys.
And they're great for little kids to have fun 🤗.

Back in the 80's I was driving Omaha to Monterey with a buddy in different cars... I picked up an early version of those at Radio Shack, they sucked only a 200 hundred meter s or so, but they were a lot smaller and better than a CB...
When those newer FRS radios came out it was a game changers.
In many ways Radios are way more useful...

I love watching my Filipina wife as she operates the lawnmower on our 1/8 acre home lot! Don't worry, though, I help out... I start the mower!

The home systems are easily hacked and most don't need to be hacked cuz the don't change access code after perchase,hand radios are great for any family out of city its smart in case injury or lost

Manok, manok, manok. You got the programming cable for those? Otherwise you're just on the manufacturer default frequencies but you can assign the channels to whatever you want within the radio's capabilities.

Are there any concerns with interference, crosstalk or signal blockages? Any conflicts with first responders, security that may be using walkie talkies too?
Carrying radios is an excellent idea. Congrats on not drinking. I quit in the year 2017. Things were getting way out of hand. Alright then...

Guy was alleged and I say allegedly for security reasons, arrested because of potential broken laws of philippines. Spent time in jail.
Yes, he spent 4 months in detention. Horrific conditions. He's back in America now.
